The ASKO CMB64BS coffee machine can be used by the following individuals:

• Children aged from 8 years and above, provided they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.

• Persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.

Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance should not be performed by children unless they are supervised.

The ASKO CMB64BS is intended for domestic use only, for approximately 3000 cups a year. It is designed to “make espresso coffee” and “heat drinks.” Use it with care to avoid scalds from water and steam jets. The appliance is made to prepare beverages based on coffee, milk, and hot water. Only use drinking water in the tank. Any other use is considered improper and dangerous. To prevent damage, do not clean with alkaline detergents; use a soft cloth and, where applicable, a neutral detergent.

The maintenance set includes:

Before the first use, remove all packaging and check that the product and all accessories are complete and undamaged. Do not use the appliance if it is visibly damaged. It is normal to find traces of coffee in the mill, as the appliance was tested in the factory. You should customise the water hardness as soon as possible. It is also recommended to install a water softener filter to improve performance.

• Always use clean and cold tap water, bottled water without added minerals, or distilled water suitable for consumption.

• The first time you use the appliance, the water circuit is empty, and it may be very noisy. The noise will lessen as the circuit fills with water.

• You may need to make 4-5 cups of coffee before the results are satisfactory.

• It is normal to hear the noise of boiling water when making the first 5-6 beverages. This noise will decrease with use.

• To access the main switch and other components, pull the appliance forward. Pull the coffee spouts forward to open the service door.

The appliance goes to standby automatically after the initial setup and is then ready for normal use. Follow the instructions on the display.

To set your appliance to ‘On’, press the On/Standby button. The appliance is ready to use once it has reached the correct temperature and the primary screen is shown. Each time the appliance is set to ‘On’, it performs an automatic preheat and rinse cycle which cannot be interrupted. The appliance is ready for use only after this cycle is complete. A tip is to place a cup under the spouts to collect the hot water from the rinse cycle to warm the cup. Do not push the main switch while the appliance is set to ‘On’.

During the rinsing cycle, a little hot water flows out of the coffee spouts. Avoid contact with splashes of water and do not leave the appliance unattended.

To put the machine in ‘Standby’ mode, press the On/Standby button. Each time the appliance is set to ‘Standby’ after making coffee, it performs an automatic rinse cycle.

If you do not plan to use the appliance for a long period, set it to ‘Off’. To disconnect the appliance completely, place the main switch on the side of the appliance in the 0 (off) position.

Here are some helpful tips for making coffee:

• The coffee supply can be stopped at any moment.

• You can increase the quantity of water as soon as the initial supply has ended.

• You can customise beverages to your liking.

• If the coffee is supplied a drop at a time or is too weak and not creamy, adjust the grind level.

• To make hotter coffee, you can perform a rinse cycle to warm the cups, supply hot water to warm the cups, use the cup warmer setting, or increase the coffee temperature setting.

• Lower the spouts as close to the cup as possible for a creamier coffee.

• After each coffee is made, the aroma and quantity settings are reset to the ‘original recipe’.

• Once a beverage is made, the appliance is ready for the next one.

To make coffee using coffee beans, follow the pictorial instructions in the manual. The process generally involves filling the bean container with coffee beans, placing a cup under the coffee spouts, selecting your desired beverage from the control panel, and starting the brewing process. Do not use green, caramelised, or candied coffee beans as they could make the coffee mill unusable.

To use pre-ground coffee, follow these important rules:

• Only add pre-ground coffee when the appliance is set to ‘On’. Adding it at other times could cause the coffee to spread inside the appliance and damage it.

• Only make one cup of coffee at a time.

• Do not use more than 1 measuring spoon of pre-ground coffee.

• Ensure the funnel is not blocked before adding the coffee.

The process involves adding the pre-ground coffee to the specific funnel, placing a cup under the spouts, selecting the pre-ground coffee option, and starting the brew.

Please observe the following safety instructions for installation:

• After unpacking, ensure the product is complete and undamaged. If in doubt, contact a qualified professional.

• Installation must be carried out by a qualified technician in compliance with current regulations.

• Keep packing elements like plastic bags away from children.

• Do not install the appliance where temperatures may reach 0 °C or lower, as freezing water can cause damage.

• Ensure the mains voltage matches the voltage on the appliance’s rating plate and connect it to an efficiently earthed socket.

• The socket must be freely accessible at all times to unplug the appliance when necessary.

• This appliance can be installed over a built-in oven if the oven is fitted with a cooling fan.

• Do not use multiple plug adapters or extension leads.

• The power cable must not be replaced by the user. If damaged, contact an authorised service centre.

• For fixed wiring, an omnipolar switch with a contact separation of at least 3 mm must be incorporated to allow for disconnection.
