What are the general safety precautions for using the washing machine?

  • Please read the instruction manual and save it for future reference.
  • Do not use the washing machine if you have not read and understood these instructions for use first.
  • Failure to observe the instructions for use or inappropriate use of the washing machine may result in damage to the laundry or machine, or injury to the user. Keep the instruction manual handy, near the washing machine.
  • Your washing machine is intended solely for household use.
  • The appliance has to be connected to the water and power supply by a trained expert.
  • Any repair and maintenance pertaining to safety or performance should be done by trained experts.
  • To avoid hazard, damaged power cord may only be replaced by the manufacturer, authorized service technician, or other authorized person.
  • After installation, the washing machine should stand still for two hours before it is connected to the power mains.
  • The washing machine may not be connected to the power mains using an extension cord.
  • Do not connect the washing machine to an electrical outlet intended for an electric shaver or hair dryer.
  • To connect the washing machine to water supply, make sure to use the supplied water supply hose and gaskets. Water pressure has to be between 0.1 and 1 MPa (approximately 1–10 kp/cm², 1-10 bar, 10–100 N/cm²).
  • Always use a new water supply hose to connect the appliance to water supply; do not reuse an old water supply hose.
  • After the washing cycle, close the water tap and pull out the washing machine plug from the power socket.

  • Free-standing appliance: If stacking with a dryer of suitable dimensions (by another manufacturer), use vacuum feet or place it next to the washing machine. Ensure min. 50 mm clearance at the sides and back.

How do I stack an ASKO dryer on top of the washing machine?

To stack an ASKO dryer on top of a washing machine, use the extra vacuum feet and the tipping guard (A+B), supplied in the cardboard box in the ASKO dryer drum. If the washing machine and dryer are not of matching dimensions or if you have installed a hidden helper between the two appliances, then binding plates are available as optional accessories at the service unit.

What are the ventilation requirements for installation in a cabinet or closet?

Ensure there is clearance between appliances and cabinet or wall, and 25 mm minimum clearance between the rear edge of the appliance top panel and the cabinet or wall. If the closet or cabinet door is closed, louvered doors are recommended for proper ventilation. Otherwise, ventilation openings must be present on the door. Refer to the installation diagrams for specific dimensions. Ensure the dryer door can be opened without hindrance. The cool air intake panel at the front of the dryer must not be blocked or covered. Disregarding instructions influences appliance performance and may result in failure.

How do I adjust the feet to level the washing machine?

Place the washing machine so that it is stable.
  1. Level the washing machine in longitudinal and traverse direction by rotating the adjustable feet (using a No. 32 spanner). The feet allow levelling by +/- 1 cm.
  2. When the appropriate height of feet is set, use the wrench No. 17 to firmly fasten the counter-nuts towards the bottom of the appliance.
  3. Tighten the jam nuts (counter nuts) to the end position.
This will reduce washing machine noise, vibration, movement etc. to minimum.

How do I move the washing machine after installation?

If moving the washing machine without packaging, open the washing machine door and pull the appliance by holding the washing assembly as indicated in the manual’s figure. For any further moving, use the transport rods (reinstall transport protection) to block the drum.

The machine must be connected to the water supply by an adequately trained person.
  • Use the supplied water supply hose. Do not use old or other hoses.
  • Water pressure must be between 0.1 and 1 MPa (1-10 bar).
  • If hoses are newly installed, rinse them to remove impurities that could clog the filter.
  • Fasten the water intake hose firmly for a good seal.
  • Check the seal for leaks after connecting.
  • If the connection on the supply hose is different from the water tap (e.g., 3/4″ → 1/2″), use an adapter.

How do I connect to both hot and cold water supply (if applicable)?

(Only available in some models) If your appliance has connections for both hot and cold water:
  • Connect one hose to the cold water connection (COLD) and the other hose to the hot water connection (HOT) on the back of the appliance.
  • Hot water is supplied for programs operating at 40 °C or more.
  • Connecting to both hot and cold water saves time and energy.
  • If you only wish to connect cold water, ensure the protective cap is attached to the hot water connection.

How do I install the drain hose?

The appliance comes with a drain hose attached.
  • Connect the drain hose to a drain or a wall drain with a properly installed trap (to allow cleaning).
  • The height of the drain should be 600-900 mm above the floor. The lower position (600 mm) is recommended.
  • Ensure the drain hose is not clipped or bent.
  • Alternatively, connect the drain hose directly to a washbasin drain via a siphon. The hose height should still be 600-900 mm above the floor.
  • The internal diameter of the connection point (siphon or drain pipe) should be at least 18 mm.

How do I connect the washing machine to the power mains?

  • After installation, let the machine stand still for two hours before connecting to power.

How should I prepare laundry before washing?

LAUNDRY SORTING
Sort laundry according to:
  • How soiled it is
  • Colour
  • Material (Observe laundry care symbols)
CLOTHING PREPARATION
  1. Close zips and hook-and-loop fasteners to prevent fabric damage.
  2. Wash new dyed items separately several times as they may contain excess dye.
  3. Turn delicate items inside out to reduce tear and colour fading risk.
  4. Place very sensitive clothes and small items in a special-purpose laundry washing bag.
  5. Empty pockets and turn them inside out. Use a washing net for underwire bras. Coins, nails etc. can damage the machine and fabric.

Are there any tips for washing specific fabrics like cotton, linen, wool, or synthetics?

  • Dyed Cotton: Wash first time at 60°C to remove excess dye if the item is rated for 60°C. To maintain colour, use bleach-free detergent.
  • Unbleached Linen: Wash at 60°C with detergent free of bleach/optical brighteners. Heavily soiled linen can occasionally be washed hotter, but this may damage the fabric over time.
  • Wool: Use the Wool/Hand Wash program, which is very gentle. Wool is sensitive; if you don’t want to spin, select a no-spin setting. Most items tolerate a short spin (max 800 rpm).
  • Viscose and Synthetic Fibres: These are sensitive and need space. Fill drum only half full. Choose a program with max 1200 rpm spin speed. Viscose and acetates are fragile when wet.

How can I reduce allergic reactions when washing?

(Only in some models) Use programs like Allergy Cotton or Allergy Synthetics, or the Allergy Mode setting, or the Super Rinse function. These options are designed for people with sensitive skin, allergies, or for washing baby clothes.

How can I save time and energy when washing?

  • Use the Everyday Wash/Universal Wash program for less soiled laundry; it has a shorter wash cycle than Standard Cotton/Cotton.
  • Avoid high-temperature programs unless necessary.
  • Use the Quick program for refreshing laundry or the Time program for specific durations.
  • Selecting the maximum spin speed reduces energy consumption if you plan to use a tumble dryer.
  • Wash full loads when using programs like Heavy, Everyday Wash/Universal, and Standard Cotton/Cotton.
  • Avoid prewash unless laundry is heavily soiled. Modern detergents are usually efficient without it. If needed, use the Prewash extra function.

What should I know about using detergents?

  • Follow manufacturer recommendations for dosage based on load size and water hardness.
  • Use less detergent for smaller loads. Too much detergent causes foaming and doesn’t improve results.
  • Use detergents with environmental labels if possible.
  • Only add detergents according to manufacturer recommendations.

How should I handle stains?

Treat stubborn stains (blood, eggs, coffee, grass, etc.) before washing. Then, use appropriate special programs if available. Use only stain-removing detergents, not chemical substances or agents, as they can cause corrosion. Avoid powerful chemicals to protect the environment.

Can I dye fabrics in the washing machine?

Yes. Select the Everyday Wash/Universal wash program with the Super Rinse extra function. Choose the temperature according to the dye manufacturer’s recommendations. For mixed fabrics (e.g., polyester/cotton), use a low spinning speed. Add the dye directly into the drum, not the detergent compartment. After dyeing, run the Drum Cleaning program with a standard amount of detergent.

What are the steps for a typical washing process?

Here is a step-by-step guide (1-8):
  1. STEP 1: SORT THE LAUNDRY: Sort by soil level, colour, and material. Prepare clothes (empty pockets, close zips etc.). See “TIPS BEFORE WASHING”.
  2. STEP 2: TURN ON THE MAIN SWITCH: Press the ON/OFF (Power) button. To turn off, press it again. If the machine doesn’t respond, wait 8 seconds before trying again.
  3. STEP 3: OPEN THE WASHING MACHINE DOOR AND INSERT THE LAUNDRY: Pull the handle to open. Place laundry in the drum. Ensure the drum is empty first. Do not overload; laundry won’t wash thoroughly.
  4. STEP 4: ADD THE DETERGENT AND THE CONDITIONER: Add detergent (powder or liquid) and conditioner to the correct compartments, following dosage recommendations. See details below.
  5. STEP 5: CHOOSE THE PROGRAM: Rotate the Program selector knob. The estimated duration appears. See program descriptions below.
  6. STEP 6: CHOOSE THE PROGRAM SETTINGS: Adjust mode, temperature, spin speed, and select extra functions or delay start if needed using buttons 1-6. See details below.
  7. STEP 7: START THE WASH: Close the door and press the Start/Pause button.
  8. STEP 8: END OF PROGRAM: The display indicates completion. Open the door, remove laundry. Close water tap and unplug the machine.

How do I add detergent and conditioner correctly (Step 4)?

Follow detergent packaging for recommended amounts based on load size, water hardness, and temperature. Reduce detergent for smaller loads.
  • Powder detergent: Add to the main wash compartment (II). If using Prewash function or Heavy/long Time program, add powder to the prewash compartment (I) as well. Add powder just before starting or ensure the compartment is dry to prevent caking.
  • Liquid detergent: Follow manufacturer recommendations. For thick liquids, use laundry balls. Use the foldable barrier (3) in the main wash compartment (II) and add liquid detergent to the front part (2).
  • Laundry ball or washing bag: Place directly into the drum. Choose a program without prewash.
  • Conditioner: Pour into the compartment with the flower symbol, observing the MAX level. Overfilling causes premature release.
Note: Excessive detergent leads to foaming and doesn’t improve results. Use less detergent and only increase if results are unsatisfactory.

What washing programs are available (Step 5)?

Choose the program by rotating the Program selector knob. Program availability depends on the model.

  3. Use a brush to clean the nozzles on the upper side of the detergent compartment housing (inside the machine). (Note: In some models, nozzles that clean the dispenser interior switch on automatically after a wash). Use a brush to clean the lower part of the compartment housing too.
  4. Replace the detergent compartment drawer back into its housing and ensure it is closed.
Important: Do not wash the detergent compartment in the dishwasher!

How should I maintain the door rubber gasket?

After every wash, wipe the rubber door seal with a soft cloth to remove moisture and any debris. This helps prevent mould growth and extends its useful life.

How do I clean the exterior of the washing machine?

Always disconnect the washing machine from the power mains before cleaning. Clean the appliance exterior and the display unit using a soft damp cotton cloth and water. Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners that could damage the appliance (observe recommendations from cleaning agent manufacturers). Do not clean the washing machine with a jet of water.

How can I prevent or remove odours from inside the washing machine?

Washing at low temperatures can lead to residue build-up (biofilm) which can cause odours. To prevent this, we recommend running the self-cleaning program (Drum-cleaning) once per month. The drum must be empty for this program.

How do I clean the area under the agitator ribs in the drum?

If you believe objects like nails or paper clips fell into the drum, check underneath the agitator (ribs). Such objects may rust and cause stains or damage fabric.
  1. Insert a screwdriver or a similar tool into the slot in the rib and carefully push the rib to the left.
  2. Hold the rib with the other hand and pull it towards you.
  3. Lift the drum rib out.
  4. Remove any objects found underneath.
  5. Place the rib back into the installation slot indicated with “F” towards you. Make sure all ribs are firmly in place in their respective slots in the drum. Push the rib inwards (as indicated by the arrow in the figure) until it snaps.

What should I do if I have hard water and see a film on the drum?

Washing with hard water can cause limescale build-up, appearing as a greyish-white film on the drum. To remove this film:
  • Add vinegar (approximately 2 dl) OR sodium bicarbonate “baking soda” (1 tablespoon or 15 g) directly into the washing machine drum.
  • Select any program with a temperature of 90 °C, or run the Drum Cleaning program.
  • Repeat the process as necessary.

What should I do if general errors occur or the machine behaves unexpectedly?

Disturbances from the environment (e.g., power grid issues) may result in various error reports. In such cases:
  1. Switch off the appliance.
  2. Wait for 1 minute.
  3. Switch the appliance back on.
  4. Repeat the washing program.
If the error persists, call an authorized service unit. Most common problems can be solved by following the troubleshooting table. Note that repairs should only be carried out by trained personnel, and issues from incorrect connection or use are not covered by warranty. Failures due to environmental factors (lightning, power surges, natural disasters) are also not covered.

What should I do if the washing machine door does not open?

This could be due to:
  • Water level too high: Drain the water using the Drain or Spinning program. See “Step 5: Choose the program”.
  • Water temperature too high: Wait for the water temperature to drop and the machine to pump out the water. If you still cannot open the door, use the emergency door opening tool (see the section “Manual opening of washing machine door”).

Why is the washing program not starting?

Check the following:
  • Door not properly closed: Firmly press on the washing machine door until you hear two clicks when it is closed.
  • No power: Check if the plug is connected to the power outlet and whether there is electric current (or voltage) in the outlet.
  • Delayed start function has been selected: To cancel the delayed start function, press the Start/Pause button and hold it for three seconds.

Why is the washing time longer than initially displayed?

The displayed time is an estimate and can be regularly updated during the cycle. Reasons for longer times include:
  • Low inlet water temperature: Program duration can be up to 60% longer than initially anticipated.
  • Unbalance System (UKS): The stability system engaged due to unevenly distributed laundry. Program time is extended due to the need to redistribute the laundry in the drum.
  • Low mains voltage: The washing machine needs more time because the power mains voltage is too low.
  • Power supply failure: Program time is extended by the duration of the power supply failure.

Why does the display not light up?

Check if the plug is connected to the power outlet and whether there is electric current (or voltage) in the outlet.

Why is the text on the display not in my preferred language?

You have not selected your preferred language yet. Choose the preferred language (see “System Settings / Choosing the language”).

Why is the laundry still wet after the cycle, or why does “unbalance” appear on the display?

A small amount of laundry will often be unevenly distributed.
  • Loosen and redistribute the laundry manually and select the Drain or Spinning program.
  • Increase the amount of laundry in the washing machine and restart the program (see “STEP 7: Start the wash / Adding or removing laundry after the start of the program”).

What should I do if there are traces of grease on the clothes?

The laundry was very greasy. Wash the laundry again. When your laundry is this heavily soiled, add more washing powder or use a liquid detergent in combination with a more powerful (longer) program.

Why are there still stains on the laundry after washing?

Possible reasons:
  • You used bleach-free liquid detergent or powder detergent for coloured laundry on items needing bleach: Use a detergent that contains bleach when appropriate.
  • You selected an unsuitable program: Use special stain removers prior to washing if needed.

Why are there white residues of washing powder on the laundry?

This is not due to poor rinsing, but rather due to phosphate-free detergents which contain ingredients (zeolites) for water softening. These ingredients may be deposited on the laundry.
  • Immediately rinse the laundry again.
  • Use liquid detergents that do not contain zeolites.
  • Try removing any residues with a brush.

Why is there powder detergent left in the main wash compartment?

  • Water pressure not high enough: Clean the net on the water supply hose.
  • Powder sticking: Some washing powders may stick strongly to the detergent compartment if it is empty or damp. Wipe the detergent compartment dry before adding the powder detergent.
  • Program settings: Choose higher water level or extra rinse (see “Step 6 / Choose program settings”).

Why is conditioner left in the conditioner compartment?

The plug cap in the conditioner compartment of the detergent compartment is not positioned correctly or it is clogged.
  • Make sure the plug cap is positioned correctly.
  • Clean the plug cap (see chapter “CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE / Cleaning the detergent compartment”).

Why is there an odour in the washing machine drum?

This can be caused by:
  • Residues of fabric, washing detergent, and conditioner in the filter: Check if the filter is clean.
  • Development of germs and bacteria: Choose a self-cleaning (Drum Cleaning) program (see “STEP 5: Choose the program”) and run it monthly with an empty drum.

Why is the machine moving during operation?

  • Feet not adjusted correctly: Level the feet (see chapter “INSTALLATION AND CONNECTION / Adjusting the feet”).
  • Transport bolts not removed: Remove the transport bolts (see chapter “BEFORE USING THE APPLIANCE FOR THE FIRST TIME / Transport protection”).

Why is the machine moving during spinning?

This is likely due to unevenly distributed laundry or not enough laundry.
  • The washing machine will automatically decrease the spin speed if vibration is too strong.
  • Increase the amount of laundry in the washing machine and restart the program (see “STEP 7: Start the wash / Adding or removing laundry after the start of the program”).

Why is the drain pump noisy (loud)?

The drain pump filter is clogged, or the filter housing and drain pump impeller are clogged.
  • Make sure the drain pump filter is clean.
  • Make sure the filter housing is clean. (See chapter “CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE / Cleaning the filter”).

How can I open the washing machine door manually if it won’t open electronically?

The washing machine door may be opened manually if the appliance is not connected to the power mains and if the water has been pumped out of the machine.
  1. First, try choosing the Spinning or Drain program to pump the water out. If this does not work, water has to be drained from the washing machine drum manually. See chapter “CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE / Cleaning the filter”.
  2. Make sure the main switch is off and that the plug is disconnected from the power outlet.
  3. Take the emergency door opening tool (found at the back of the detergent compartment) and insert it into the upper part of the slot on the right-hand side of the washing machine door latch.
  4. Press the key (emergency door opening tool) downwards (all the way, until you hear a click) to unlock the washing machine door. When the door is unlocked, open it by pulling towards you.
If the washing machine door still cannot be opened, call a service technician.

What do the ‘UNBALANCE’, ‘UNABLE TO LOCK DOOR’, ‘STERIL TUB ALERT’, ‘Preparing to door unlocking’, and ‘DRAIN SYSTEM ALERT’ messages mean?

  • UNBALANCE: Unevenly distributed laundry. Manually distribute the laundry inside the drum and run the spinning program again. The machine has a UKS (*unbalance system) that tries to redistribute loads automatically, which can extend program time or even skip the spin cycle in extreme cases with small or difficult items.
  • UNABLE TO LOCK DOOR: Open and firmly close the door again to its final position. If the error reoccurs, call a service technician.
  • STERIL TUB ALERT: This warning – Self-cleaning program reminder – is displayed every 40 completed wash cycles. Use the self-cleaning program (DRUM CLEANING); see STEP 5 in the quick guide or program table.
  • Preparing to door unlocking. (press INFO): Draining must be performed. Wait for door unlocking.: The machine is performing necessary draining before the door can be unlocked. Wait until the process is finished. If no error is shown after this process, a new cycle can be run.
  • DRAIN SYSTEM ALERT: Alert about reduced water flow in the pumping stage. Please check user manuals for potential causes like a clogged filter or drain hose.

Why does the displayed washing time change during the cycle?

Advanced technology allows the appliance to sense the amount of laundry and add the required amount of water during the washing process. Depending on the washing load, washing time can be longer or shorter and the time displayed will be adjusted accordingly.

Moreover, displayed washing time may change due to differences in inlet water temperature. At low inlet water temperatures, washing time can be longer; at higher temperatures, it can be shorter.

Unevenly distributed laundry or lumps of laundry in the washing machine drum can cause problems such as vibration and noisy operation. The appliance can sense such lumps and will try to redistribute the laundry. Smaller loads (e.g. one towel, one sweater, one bathrobe etc.) or clothes made of materials with special geometrical properties are virtually impossible to distribute evenly across the washing machine drum (slippers, large items etc.). This results in several attempts to redistribute the laundry, which in turn leads to longer program duration.

Can you provide a quick guide to using the washing machine?

  1. SORT THE LAUNDRY: Close zippers and fasteners. Empty pockets and turn them inside out. Check the laundry care symbols. Sort the laundry based on how heavily soiled it is, by colour, and by material.
  2. SWITCH ON: Switch on the main ON/OFF switch (ON/OFF).
  3. LOAD LAUNDRY: Open the washing machine door and insert the laundry. Before doing so, make sure the drum is empty.
  4. ADD DETERGENT AND CONDITIONER: Add the recommended detergent amount (usually indicated on the packaging). For smaller wash loads, use a smaller amount of detergent. Add conditioner to the correct compartment if desired.
  5. CHOOSE THE WASHING PROGRAM: Turn the program selector knob to the desired washing program. The selected program will be indicated on the display unit.
  6. CHOOSE THE PROGRAM SETTING: Choose the settings (like temperature, spin speed, options) by pressing the relevant buttons.
  7. START WASH: Close the washing machine door firmly and press the “START” button. The anticipated washing time, in hours and minutes, will be indicated on the display.
  8. END OF PROGRAM: Open the door and remove the laundry from the washing machine. Close the door. Switch off the main on/off switch. Close the water tap and remove the power plug from the power socket. Remember to perform regular cleaning as described in the “CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE” chapter.
