The keys on your ALCATEL PIXI 4 4034D have the following functions:

Inserting or removing the SIM/microSD card

Your phone requires a micro-SIM card to make phone calls. Power off your phone before inserting or removing the SIM or microSD card. Do not attempt to insert other SIM types like mini or nano cards, as you may damage your phone.

Charging the battery

You are advised to fully charge the battery. Charging status is indicated by a percentage displayed on the screen while the phone is powered off.

Power on your phone

Hold down the Power key until the phone powers on. It will take a few seconds before the screen lights up. Unlock your phone with a swipe, PIN, password, or pattern if you’ve set a screen lock.

Power off your phone

Hold down the Power key until the Phone options appear, then select Power off.

You can use the following gestures on the touchscreen of your ALCATEL PIXI 4 4034D:

Touch: To open an application, touch it with your finger.

Status Bar:

From the status bar at the top of the screen, you can see both phone status (on the right side) and notification information (on the left side).

Notification Panel:

Drag down the status bar to view notifications. Drag down again to open the Quick settings panel. To close it, touch and drag up. From the Notification panel, you can open items and other reminders indicated by notification icons or view wireless service information.

– Touch a notification and slide it sideways to delete it.

– Touch the clear icon to clear all event-based notifications.

Quick Settings Panel:

Touch and drag the Notification panel downwards twice to open the Quick settings panel. Here you can:

– Touch icons to enable/disable functions or to change modes.

– Long press icons to show their respective settings.

– Touch the settings gear icon to open the main Settings menu.

To protect your phone and privacy, you can set a screen lock.

To create a screen unlock pattern, PIN, or password:

1. Go to Settings > Lock settings > Screen lock.

2. Choose Pattern, PIN, or Password and follow the onscreen instructions.

To lock the phone screen:

Press the Power key once to lock the screen.

To unlock the phone screen:

Press the Power key once to light up the screen. Slide to draw the unlock pattern you have created, or enter your PIN or password to unlock the screen. If you have chosen “Swipe” as the screen lock, swipe the lock icon upward to unlock the screen.

You can personalize your Home screen in several ways:

Add an app or widget: Long press a folder, an application, or a widget to activate the Move mode, then drag the item to your preferred Home screen.

Reposition an app or widget: Long press the item to be repositioned to activate the Move mode. Drag the item to the desired position and then release. You can move items both on the Home screen and the Favourite tray.

Remove an app or widget: Long press the item to be removed to activate the Move mode. Drag the item up to the top of the “Remove” icon and release after the item turns red.

Create folders: To improve the organization of items on the Home screen, you can add them to a folder by stacking one item on top of another. To rename a folder, open it and touch the folder’s title bar to input the new name.

Wallpaper customization: Long press an empty area on the Home screen, then touch WALLPAPERS, or go to Settings > Display > Wallpaper to customize your wallpaper.

Consult widgets and recently-used applications:

– To view all widgets, long press an empty area on the Home screen and touch WIDGETS.

– To view recently-used apps, touch the Overview key. You can open an app by touching its thumbnail or remove it by swiping it left or right.

Using the volume key:

Using the Android Keyboard:

– Touch a text field to bring up the keyboard.

– Switch between “abc/Abc” mode by tapping the shift key. Long press the shift key to switch to “abc/ABC” mode.

– Switch between the symbol and numeric keyboard by tapping the symbol key.

– Long press symbols to see more options.

Editing Text:

You can edit the texts you have entered. Long press the text you want to edit. Drag the tabs to change the highlighted selection. The following options will appear: SELECT ALL, CUT, COPY, and SHARE.

To insert new text, touch where you want to type. The cursor will blink, and a tab will show. You can drag the tab to move the cursor. If you have cut or copied any text, touch the tab to show the PASTE icon, which allows you to paste the previously copied text.

Making a call:

1. From the Home screen, touch the Phone icon.

2. Enter the number you want from the dial pad or select a contact from Call log or Contacts.

3. Touch the call icon to place the call.

To make an international call, long press 0 to enter “+”, then enter the international country prefix followed by the full phone number and touch the call icon.

Answering or rejecting a call:

When you receive a call:

– Swipe the call icon right to answer.

– Swipe the call icon left to reject.

– Swipe the message icon upwards to reject the call by sending a preset message.

During a call:

You can use these options during a call:

– Touch the speaker icon to activate the speakerphone.

– Touch the mute icon to mute the current call.

– Touch the hold icon to place the call on hold.

– Touch the dial pad icon to display the dial pad.

Managing multiple calls (Conference calls):

1. Place a call to the first participant.

2. Touch the “Add call” icon.

3. Enter the phone number of the next person and place the call.

4. Touch the “Merge calls” icon to start the conference call.

5. Touch the end call icon to end the conference call and disconnect all callers.

You can view and create contacts on your phone and synchronize them with your accounts.

Consult your Contacts:

To see your contacts, touch the Application tab on the Home screen, then select Contacts.

Adding a contact:

1. Touch the add icon in the contact list.

2. Enter the contact’s information.

3. When finished, touch the save icon.

Editing your contacts:

1. Open the contact you wish to edit.

2. Touch the edit icon on the contact details screen.

3. Make your changes and touch the save icon.

Deleting contacts:

Long press the contact you want to delete until the contact photo changes, then touch the delete icon and select Delete.

Importing, exporting and sharing contacts:

From the Contacts screen, touch the menu icon and select Import/Export. Choose to import/export contacts from/to your accounts, SIM card, Phone, internal storage, or SD card.

Write a new message:

1. On the message list screen, touch the new message icon.

2. Enter the name or mobile phone number of the recipient in the recipient’s bar or touch the add recipient icon.

3. Touch the content bar to enter the text of the message.

4. When finished, touch the send icon.

Sending a multimedia message (MMS):

An SMS will be converted to MMS automatically when media files (image, video, audio, etc.) are attached, or when a subject or email addresses are added. To attach a file, touch the attachment icon and choose from options like Capture picture, Videos, Audio, etc.

Manage messages:

When a new message comes, an icon will appear in the status bar. Drag down the status bar to open the Notification panel and touch the new message to open it. Messages are displayed as a conversation. Inside a message thread, you can:

– Touch the phone icon to call the number.

– Touch the contact icon to save the number to Contacts.

– To reply, type your text and touch send.

– Long press a message for options like copy text, forward, or delete.

To open the Calendar:

Touch the Application tab from the Home screen, then touch Calendar.

To change the view:

To change your Calendar view, touch the menu icon and select Schedule, Day, 3 Day, Week, or Month.

To create new events:

1. Touch the add icon.

2. Fill in all required information for the new event. If it is a whole-day event, you can turn on the ALL DAY switch.

3. When finished, touch SAVE from the top of the screen.

To delete or edit an event:

Touch an event to open its details screen. Then touch the edit icon to edit the event, or touch the DELETE option to delete it.

To access the clock features, touch the Application tab from the Home screen, then touch Clock.

Alarm:

1. From the Time screen, touch the alarm icon to enter the Alarms screen.

2. Touch the add icon to add a new alarm.

3. Set the time, repeat days, ringtone, and other options.

World clock:

To view the world clock, touch the world clock icon on the Time screen. Touch the add icon to add a time zone from the list.

Countdown:

1. From the Time screen, touch the countdown icon.

2. Touch the digits to set the countdown time.

3. Touch the start icon to begin the countdown.

Timer (Stopwatch):

1. From the Time screen, touch the timer icon.

2. Touch the start icon to start the timer.

You can connect your ALCATEL PIXI 4 4034D to the internet using mobile data or Wi-Fi.

Connecting via Mobile Data (GPRS/EDGE/3G):

Connecting to a computer via USB:

3. Touch the notification to open a dialog, then choose the way in which you want to transfer files (e.g., Media device (MTP)).

You can share your phone’s mobile data connection with other devices via USB tethering, a portable Wi-Fi hotspot, or Bluetooth tethering.

To share data via USB Tethering:

1. Connect your phone to a computer with a USB cable.

2. Go to Settings > More > Tethering & portable hotspot.

3. Touch the switch next to USB tethering to activate it.

To share data as a portable Wi-Fi Hotspot:

1. Go to Settings > More > Tethering & portable hotspot > Wi-Fi hotspot.

2. Touch the switch to activate the hotspot.

3. To change the network name (SSID) or password, touch Set up Wi-Fi hotspot.

To share data via Bluetooth Tethering:

1. Go to Settings > More > Tethering & portable hotspot.

Using the Camera:

– To take a picture: Open the Camera app and touch the shutter icon. The screen acts as the viewfinder.

Using the Gallery:

– Working with pictures: In the full-screen view, you can touch the share icon to share the picture or the edit icon to rotate, crop, or apply effects. Touch the menu icon and select “Set as…” to set the picture as a contact photo or wallpaper.

– Batch operation: On the main Gallery screen, touch the menu icon and then “Select item” to work with multiple pictures or videos at once for sharing or deleting.

Music:

You can play music files stored on your phone or microSD card. To play your music, touch Music from the Home screen. Your songs will be classified into Artists, Albums, Songs, and Playlists. Touch a song to play it.

Radio:

1. Insert a headset, which is used as the antenna for the radio.

2. Touch the Application tab from the Home screen, then select Radio.

3. You can scan for channels, save favorites, and manually enter frequencies.

Back up my data:

1. Go to Settings > Backup & reset.

2. Turn on the switch for “Back up my data” to back up your phone’s settings and other application data to Google servers with your Google account.

Factory data reset:

This will erase all of your personal data from internal phone storage, including your Google account, system and application settings, and any downloaded applications. It does not erase system software updates or files on your microSD card.

1. Go to Settings > Backup & reset > Factory data reset.

2. Follow the on-screen instructions to reset the phone.

Factory reset using hardware keys:

If you are unable to power on your phone, you can perform a factory data reset by pressing the Volume up key and the Power key at the same time until the screen lights up. Use the volume keys to navigate the menu and the power key to select.

You can update your phone’s software using the FOTA (Firmware Over The Air) Upgrade tool.

1. Go to Settings > About phone > System updates. Alternatively, you can touch the Application tab from the Home screen and select the System updates application.

2. Touch the check for updates icon, and the phone will search for the latest software.

3. If an update is available, touch DOWNLOAD. When the download is finished, touch INSTALL to complete the upgrade.

It is recommended to turn on a data connection before searching for updates. Do not change your default storage location while FOTA is downloading or updating to avoid errors.

– If the phone can’t be switched on, charge it for at least 20 minutes to ensure minimum battery power, then try to switch it on again.

– If the phone loops during the power-on animation, press and hold the Power key to reset it.

– If neither method is effective, reset the phone by pressing and holding the Power key and the Volume up key together to enter recovery mode, or use the Mobile Upgrade tool.

– Restart your phone by pressing and holding the Power key.

– If it still does not work, use the Factory data reset option to reset the phone or use the Mobile Upgrade tool to upgrade the software.

– Check that your screen is locked when you are not using your phone, and make sure the Power key is not accidentally being pressed.

The phone may become warm following prolonged calls, game playing, internet surfing, or running other complex applications. This heating is a normal consequence of the CPU handling excessive data. Ending these actions will make your phone return to normal temperatures.

After a Factory reset is performed, you need to enter the original Google account credentials that were used on this device before the reset. Otherwise, you will not be able to use the device. If you don’t remember your Google account credentials, please complete the Google account recovery procedure. If you cannot succeed, you must apply to an authorized repair center, but note that this will not be regarded as a warranty case. This is applicable for Android OS versions starting from 5.1.

Please check if Do not disturb mode is activated on your device. If it is activated, you will see a specific icon (e.g., a star) on the notification panel.
