You can find your serial number or International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) on the packaging materials. Alternatively, on your ALCATEL PIXI 4 4034F, you can find it by going to Settings > About phone > Status.

You can update the software on your ALCATEL PIXI 4 4034F through the FOTA (Firmware Over The Air) Upgrade or by using the System updates app on your phone.

Keys and Connectors:

Power key

• Press: Lock the screen/Light up the screen.

• Press and hold: Show the popup menu to select from Restart, Power off, and Aeroplane mode.

• Press and hold for at least 10 seconds to force reboot.

• Press and hold the Power key and Volume up key under power off mode to enter recovery mode.

• Press and hold the Power key and Volume down key to make a screenshot.

Volume Keys

• Adjusts the earpiece or headset volume during a call.

• Adjusts the media volume in Music/Video/Streaming mode.

• Adjusts the ringtone volume in general mode.

• Mutes the ringtone of an incoming call.

Back key

• Touch to go back to the previous screen, or close a dialog box, options menu, the notification panel, etc.

Home key

• From any application or screen, touch to return to the Home screen.

• Long press to turn on Google Now.

Overview key

• Touch to switch between individual app activities and documents.

Setting Up Your Phone

1. Insert the SIM/microSD card: A micro-SIM card is required to make phone calls and use mobile networks. Power off your phone before inserting or removing the SIM/microSD card. Do not attempt to insert other SIM types like mini or nano cards, as you may damage your phone.

2. Charge the battery: You are advised to fully charge the battery. Charging status is indicated by a percentage displayed on screen while the phone is powered off.

3. Power on your phone: Hold down the Power key until the phone powers on. It will take a few seconds before the screen lights up. Unlock your phone with a swipe, PIN, password, or pattern if you’ve set a screen lock.

4. Power off your phone: Hold down the Power key until the Phone options appear, then select Power off.

• Touch: To open an application, touch it with your finger.

• Long press: To enter the available options for an item, long press the item. For example, selecting a contact in Contacts and long pressing this contact will show an options list.

• Drag: Place your finger on the screen to drag an object to another location.

• Slide/Swipe: Slide the screen to scroll up and down applications, images, and web pages. You can also slide the screen horizontally.

• Flick: Similar to swiping, but flicking makes the screen move quicker.

• Pinch/Spread: Place two fingers on the screen surface and draw them apart or together to scale an element on the screen.

• Rotate: The screen orientation will automatically change from portrait to landscape by turning the phone sideways for a better screen view.

To protect your phone and privacy, you can set a screen lock through Settings > Lock settings > Screen lock. You can choose from a pattern, PIN, or password.

To lock the phone screen:

Press the Power key once to lock the screen.

To unlock the phone screen:

Press the Power key once to light up the screen, then slide to draw the unlock pattern you have created or enter your PIN or password. If you have chosen “Swipe” as the screen lock, swipe the lock icon upward to unlock the screen, swipe left to open Camera, or swipe right to access the Phone.

Add an app or widget:

Long press a folder, application, or widget to activate the Move mode, then drag the item to your preferred Home screen.

Reposition an app or widget:

Long press the item to be repositioned, drag it to the desired position, and then release. You can move items on both the Home screen and the Favourite tray.

Remove an app or widget:

Long press the item to be removed, drag the item up to the top of the “Remove” icon, and release after the item turns red.

Create folders:

To organize items, you can add them to a folder by stacking one item on top of another. To rename a folder, open it and touch the folder’s title bar to input the new name.

Wallpaper customization:

Long press an empty area on the Home screen, then touch WALLPAPERS, or go to Settings > Display > Wallpaper to customize your wallpaper.

1. From the Home screen, touch the Phone icon.

2. Enter the number you want to call from the dial pad or select a contact from Call log or Contacts.

3. Touch the call icon to place the call.

International call:

To dial an international call, long press 0 to enter “+”, then enter the international country prefix followed by the full phone number and touch the call icon.

Emergency call:

If your phone has network coverage, dial the emergency number and touch the call icon to make an emergency call. This works even without a SIM card and without typing the PIN code.

Answering or rejecting a call:

When you receive a call:

• Swipe the call icon right to answer.

• Swipe the call icon left to reject.

• Swipe the message icon upwards to reject the call by sending a preset message.

During a call:

• Touch the speaker icon to activate/deactivate the speaker.

• Touch the mute icon to mute/unmute the current call.

• Touch the hold icon to hold/retrieve the call.

• Touch the dial pad icon to display the dial pad.

• Touch the end call icon to hang up.

• Touch the options menu (three dots) to access “Add call” or “Start recording”.

Adding a contact:

In the contact list, touch the “+” icon to create a new contact. Fill in the information and touch the save icon when finished.

Editing a contact:

To edit contact information, touch the pencil icon on the contact details screen. Touch the checkmark to save when finished.

Deleting contacts:

Long press the contact you want to delete until the contact photo is selected, then touch the trash icon and select Delete.

Importing/Exporting contacts:

From the Contacts screen, touch the options menu (three dots) and select Import/Export. You can then choose to import/export contacts from/to your accounts, SIM card, Phone, internal storage, SD card, etc.

Sharing contacts:

Touch a contact you want to share, touch the options icon, and select Share from the contact details screen. Then, select an application to send the contact’s vCard.

1. Go to the Home screen and touch the Messaging icon.

2. On the message list screen, touch the new message icon (+) to start a new message.

Sending a text message (SMS):

• Enter the recipient’s name or mobile number in the recipient bar.

• Touch the content bar to enter the text of the message.

• When finished, touch the send icon.

Sending a multimedia message (MMS):

• An SMS is automatically converted to an MMS when media files (images, videos, audio, etc.) are attached, or when a subject or email address is added.

• To attach a file, touch the paperclip icon and select the type of file you want to attach (e.g., Capture picture, Capture video, Pictures, Videos).

• When finished, touch the send icon to send the multimedia message.

To take a picture:

The screen acts as the viewfinder. First, position the object or landscape in the viewfinder. Touch the shutter icon to take the picture, which will be automatically saved. You can also long press the shutter icon to take burst shots.

To shoot a video:

Touch the video icon on the screen to start video recording. You can also touch the shutter icon to take a picture during video recording. Touch the stop icon to stop recording. The video will be automatically saved.

Shooting Modes:

Swipe on the navigation menu to switch modes. Available modes include:

• QR code: Open QR code scanning.

• PANO: Take panoramic photos by moving the phone steadily along the onscreen line.

• Normal: Default shooting mode.

• Polaroid: Stitch multiple shots into one picture.

• Face beauty: Enable face beauty while shooting.

• HDR: Touch HDR on the top of the screen to turn on High-Dynamic Range function for photos with a greater range of shadow and brightness.

Using Mobile Data:

The first time you turn on your phone with a SIM card inserted, it will automatically configure a mobile network service. If the network is not connected, you can turn on mobile data in Settings > Data usage.

Using Wi-Fi:

1. Go to Settings, then touch Wi-Fi.

2. Touch the switch to turn Wi-Fi on.

3. Detailed information of all detected Wi-Fi networks is displayed. Touch a network to connect to it.

4. If the network is secured, you’ll need to enter a password or other credentials. When finished, touch CONNECT.

1. Go to Settings > Bluetooth.

2. Touch the switch to turn Bluetooth on.

3. Touch the options menu and select Refresh to search for available devices.

4. Touch a desired Bluetooth device in the list to begin pairing.

5. A dialog will pop up; touch PAIR to confirm.

6. If the pairing is successful, your phone connects to the device.

1. Use the USB cable that came with your phone to connect it to a USB port on your computer. You will receive a notification “Connected as a media device” or “USB for charging”.

2. Touch the notification to open it, then in the next dialog, choose the way you want to transfer files (e.g., Media device (MTP)).

Once connected, you can locate data you have transferred or downloaded in the internal storage by opening the File Manager app on your phone.

You can share your phone’s mobile data connection with other devices via USB tethering, a portable Wi-Fi hotspot, or Bluetooth tethering. Go to Settings > More > Tethering & portable hotspot.

• USB tethering: Connect your phone to a computer via USB cable, then touch the switch next to USB tethering to activate it.

• Wi-Fi hotspot: Touch the switch to activate the function. You can also touch “Set up Wi-Fi hotspot” to change the network name (SSID) and set a password.

• Bluetooth tethering: Turn on the switch next to Bluetooth tethering to activate this function.

A factory data reset will erase all of your personal data from the internal phone storage. This includes your Google account, system and application settings, and any downloaded applications. It does not erase system software updates or files on your microSD card.

IMPORTANT: After a factory reset, you may be required to enter the original Google account credentials that were used on the device before the reset. If you cannot provide them, you will not be able to use the device. It is strongly advised to back up your data before proceeding.

To reset via settings:

1. Go to Settings > Backup & reset > Factory data reset.

To reset via hardware keys (if unable to power on):

1. Ensure the phone is powered off.

2. Press and hold the Volume up key and the Power key at the same time until the screen lights up to enter recovery mode.

3. Follow the on-screen instructions to perform the factory reset.

• If the phone can’t be switched on, charge it for at least 20 minutes to ensure minimum battery power, then try to switch it on again.

• If the phone is stuck in a loop during power-on animation, press and hold the Power key to reset it. This can eliminate abnormal OS booting issues.

• If neither method is effective, reset the phone using the hardware keys (holding Power key and Volume up key together) or upgrade the software.

• Restart your phone by pressing and holding the Power key.

• If it still does not work, use the Factory data reset to reset the phone or use Mobile Upgrade to upgrade the software.

• Check that your screen is locked when you are not using your phone, and make sure the Power key is not being accidentally pressed.

• Check the battery charge level.

• If the problem persists, perform a Factory data reset or upgrade the software.

• Make sure you are using an ALCATEL battery and the charger from the box.

• Ensure the battery is inserted properly and clean the battery contact if it’s dirty.

• If the battery is completely discharged, it may take around 20 minutes for the battery charger indicator to appear on the screen.

• Make sure charging is carried out under normal conditions (0°C to +40°C).

• When abroad, check that the voltage input is compatible.

• Try connecting in another location.

• Verify the network coverage with your operator.

• Check with your operator that your SIM card is valid.

• Try selecting the available network(s) manually.

• Try connecting at a later time if the network is overloaded.

• Make sure the SIM card has been correctly inserted.

• Make sure the chip on your SIM card is not damaged or scratched.

• Make sure the service of your SIM card is available.

• Make sure you have dialed a valid number and have touched the Call button.

• For international calls, check the country and area codes.

• Ensure your phone is connected to a network that is not overloaded or unavailable.

• Check your subscription status with your operator (credit, SIM card valid, etc.).

• Make sure you have not barred outgoing calls.

• Make sure your phone is not in Aeroplane mode.

• Make sure you follow the complete charge time (minimum 2.5 hours).

• Adjust the screen brightness as appropriate.

• Extend the email auto-check interval for as long as possible.

• Update news and weather information on manual demand, or increase their auto-check interval.

• Exit background-running applications if they are not being used for a long time.

• Deactivate Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or GPS when not in use.
