To prevent damage to the battery terminal clamps and battery terminals, the following should be observed: The battery terminal clamps should only be fitted by hand and without using force. Battery terminals should not be coated with grease. The battery terminal clamps should be fitted so that the battery terminal is either flush with the clamp or protruding from it. Once the battery terminal clamps have been tightened to the specified torque, the threaded connections should not be tightened any further.

It is essential to first check the external condition of the battery and that the battery is seated securely. Points to check include: Damage to the housing of the battery. If the housing is damaged, electrolyte can leak out, which can cause serious damage to the vehicle. If leaked acid is found, treat the affected areas immediately with acid neutraliser or a soap solution. Check for damage to battery terminals, as necessary contact cannot be guaranteed if the terminals are damaged.

For 3-colour displays: Green indicates the battery is charged sufficiently. Black indicates the battery is partly discharged, charge level less than 65 percent or completely discharged. Colourless or light yellow indicates the battery must be renewed. For 2-colour displays: Black indicates the electrolyte level is okay. Colourless or light yellow indicates the electrolyte level is too low and the battery must be renewed. Note that air bubbles can form below the magic eye, especially after recharging, which can falsify the display. Tapping the magic eye lightly with the handle of a screwdriver can help dissipate these bubbles for a more accurate reading.

Ensure the battery temperature is at least 10 degrees Celsius. Switch off the ignition and all electrical consumers. Connect the red terminal clamp to the positive terminal and the black terminal clamp to the negative terminal. Select the point of connection of the test terminals, then press the start test button. The test program runs automatically and the result is printed by the printer. Perform the test once only, as repeating it falsifies results.

Cut the damaged section at right angles out of the smooth pipe. Select the appropriate EPDM hose and cable ties. Cut the EPDM hose to size so that the smooth-type pipe ends can be inserted approximately 10 mm into the EPDM hose. Secure the repair joints with cable ties.

Remove any accessories from the socket. Push the puller into the socket so that the locking lugs engage in the recesses. Pull the grip to release the locking lugs of the retaining sleeve. Pull the socket out of the retaining sleeve using the puller. Disconnect the electrical connector. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

Place the wire to be repaired to the side, about 20 cm on both sides of the repair position. Unbind the wiring harness if necessary. Cut out the damaged piece of wiring using wire strippers. Strip the wire ends of insulation by 6 to 7 mm. Push the crimp connector onto both stripped wire ends and crimp it using the crimping pliers. Shrink the connector using a hot air blower, working from the middle outwards until it is sealed completely and adhesive escapes from the ends.

It is absolutely necessary to disconnect the battery before working on parts of the gas discharge headlights marked with yellow high-voltage symbols. Switch the dipped beam on and off again to eliminate any possible residual voltage. The gas discharge bulb must only be operated in the headlight housing. Always wear safety goggles and gloves when removing or installing bulbs.

Disconnect the battery. Loosen the cap nut and remove the ring terminal. Check for corrosion and dirt. Select a suitable adapter and sanding pad. Insert the adapter into the ring terminal or onto the threaded connection and grind off corrosion and dirt with circular movements. After cleaning, check the connection, tighten to the specified torque, and apply an anti-corrosion treatment.
