Perform the visual check as follows:

Check the engine and its components in the engine compartment for leaks and damage.

Check lines, hoses, and connections of the fuel system, the cooling and heating system, and the brake system for leaks, abrasions, porosity, and brittleness.

Before driving onto a lifting platform, ensure that there is sufficient clearance between low-lying vehicle components and the lifting platform.

Before driving the vehicle onto a lifting platform, it must be ensured that the vehicle weight does not exceed the permissible lifting capacity of the platform.

The vehicle may be lifted only at points indicated in the figure to avoid damaging the vehicle floor pan or tipping the vehicle.

Never start the engine and engage a gear with the vehicle lifted as long as even one driven wheel has contact with the floor. Disregarding these warnings risks the danger of an accident.

If work is to be performed under the vehicle, it must be supported by suitable stands.

There are two methods to set the clock:

Using buttons below the rev. counter:

Press the left button to set the hours. Press the button only briefly to advance the time by one hour.

Press the right button to set the minutes. Press the button only briefly to advance the time by one minute.

Using buttons on the windscreen wiper lever:

Switch on the ignition.

Press the button for 2 seconds to open the main menu.

Press the button to select the menu Settings and confirm using the button.

Press the button to select the menu Time and confirm using the button.

Now mark the menu option Hours by pressing the button, set the correct hour using the button and confirm with the button.

Follow the same procedure for the menu option Minutes.

The menu Settings can be closed via the menu option back.

Now select MFI for the actual display and confirm this using the button.

Switch off the ignition.

At delivery inspection, the fluid level must be at the MAX. marking.

During inspection service, the fluid level should be judged in conjunction with lining/pad wear. When the vehicle is in use, the fluid level tends to drop slightly due to lining/pad wear and automatic adjustment.

Recommended brake fluid level if brake pads are new or well within wear limit: Between MIN. and MAX. marking.

If the fluid level is below the MIN. marking, the brake system must be checked before fluid is topped up.

Removing:

Loosen the oil filter using a combination spanner, AF 30 or a ring spanner, 30x32mm, and remove the oil filter.

Clean the engine sealing surface.

Installing:

Oil the rubber seal lightly on the new filter.

Screw in the filter and tighten hand-tight.

Connect the fault reader, switch on the ignition, and touch the field or button on the screen for GUIDED FUNCTIONS.

Confirm with the > button and select the following one after the other: Brand, Type, Model year, Engine code. Confirm vehicle identification.

When Select vehicle system or function is shown on the display, select vehicle system Engine.

Select Read measured value block and confirm with the > button (press twice).

Mark Measured value block 68, field 2 to read the ash mass. Determine the actual value using the Reading button.

If the specification of less than 60 grams is exceeded, the diesel particulate filter must be renewed.

For engine oil capacities, refer to the Power unit section, Rep. Gr. 17, Lubrication, Oil capacities or the Maintenance tables.

Check the tyre tread depth using a gauge. The minimum tread depth is 1.6 mm.

The minimum tread depth is reached when the tyres have worn down level with the 1.6 mm high tread wear indicators positioned at intervals around the tyre.

If both spray fields are not at the same height, adjust the spray direction upwards or downwards using the setting tool T10127 equipped with a needle 3125/5 A.

Adjust the spray direction at the adjuster using a screwdriver. Clockwise moves the spray lower, and anti-clockwise moves the spray higher.
