The package for the VIZIO D50-E1 contains the following items:

It is recommended that two people take part in the stand installation.

1. Remove any plastic film from the TV and stands.

2. Place the TV screen-down on a clean, flat surface. To prevent scratches or damage, place the TV on a soft surface like a carpet, rug, or blanket. Ensure the top and bottom edges of the screen are supported by the surface to avoid damage.

3. Insert the stands into the base of the TV. The stands are identical.

4. Secure each stand to the TV with two (2) Phillips screws (included).

5. Insert the screws into the back of the TV and tighten them using a Phillips screwdriver.

6. When you are finished, place the TV on a stable, level surface.

1. Connect Devices: Connect all of your devices to the TV first. Choose one connection type (e.g., HDMI, Component) for each device.

2. Connect Power: Connect one end of the power cable to the back of the TV, ensuring the flat edge of the connector faces the outer edge of the TV. Plug the other end into an electrical outlet.

3. Connect to Internet (Optional but Recommended): For the best Smart TV experience, connect an Ethernet cable from your modem or router to the back of your TV. The TV also has built-in Wi-Fi if you prefer a wireless connection.

4. Power On and Guided Setup: Turn the TV on by pressing the POWER button on the remote. The Guided Setup will display.

5. Select Mode and Language: Use the Arrow buttons on the remote to select “Home Use” and press OK. Then, use the Arrow buttons to select your preferred language and press OK.

6. Follow On-Screen Instructions: Continue to follow the on-screen instructions to complete the first-time setup.

1. Remove the battery cover by pressing gently on the logo and sliding it away from the remote.

2. Insert the two included AAA batteries.

3. Be sure to align the + and – signs on the batteries with the signs inside the remote’s battery compartment.

4. Gently slide the battery cover back into place.

Warning: Keep the remote control batteries away from children. It may cause choking and/or lead to a fire or chemical burn if mishandled. Do not dispose of batteries in fire. Replace only with batteries of the correct type.

1. Press the MENU button on the remote control to display the TV SETTINGS menu.

2. Using the arrow buttons, highlight User Manual and press OK.

3. Use the Up and Down Arrow buttons to select the chapter you want to view.

4. Use the Left and Right Arrow buttons to browse through the pages in each chapter.

5. Press the EXIT button to exit the on-screen User Manual.

6. Press the BACK button to return to the Table of Contents page.

To access the Accessibility menu:

1. Press the Menu button on the remote control.

2. Use the Arrow and OK buttons to navigate and select System → Accessibility.

From here you can adjust the following settings:

• Talk Back: Turn Text-to-Speech Talk Back On or Off. This feature enables your TV to speak all settings changes and adjustments using the remote in English.

• Speech Rate: Adjusts the rate at which Text-to-Speech is spoken. Select Slow, Normal (Default), or Fast. (Only available when Talkback is turned On).

• Zoom Mode: Enlarges a section of the screen by 200%.

To access the Closed Caption menu:

• Press the Menu button on the remote control.

• Use the Arrow and OK buttons to navigate and select Closed Captions. (Input must be set to tuner for Closed Caption to appear in settings menu).

If you have not already set up a wireless connection during the first-time setup, follow these steps. You will need your wireless router, a high-speed internet connection, your SSID (wireless network name), and your network password.

1. Press the MENU button on the remote.

2. Highlight Network and press OK. The Network Setup guide is displayed.

3. Highlight the name of your wireless network (this is the network’s SSID) from the list of Wireless Access Points and press OK.

4. If you do not see your SSID, you will need to enter it manually by selecting Hidden Network.

5. Using the on-screen keyboard, enter your network’s password, then highlight Connect and press OK.

For best results, ensure your router is placed in a location with minimal interference. Walls, large metal objects, and other devices broadcasting at 2.4 or 5 GHz can interfere with the signal.

A high-speed Internet connection is required to receive product updates and to access online content.

• Launch an App: Press the OK button to launch the highlighted App in the dock.

• Scroll through Apps: Press the Left/Right Arrow buttons to scroll through the Apps on the dock. The highlighted App is in the center of the dock.

• Display the App Dock: Press the V Button to display the V.I.A. Plus App Dock at the bottom of the screen.

• Open the Fullscreen App Window: Press the V Button twice to launch the fullscreen V.I.A. Plus Apps window. This allows you to add and store apps. The apps on the first page are displayed in the Dock, and apps on additional pages can be moved to the Dock.

Your TV can output sound to an audio device, such as a receiver or sound bar. The following connection types can be used:

• HDMI Cable: Supports CEC 2-way communication and 2.0 – 5.1 Digital Audio (PCM, DTS, Dolby Audio™).

• DIGITAL OPTICAL Cable: Supports 2.0 – 5.1 Digital Audio (PCM, DTS, Dolby Audio™).

• RCA Cable: Supports Analog Stereo Connection (2.0 Channel).

To connect your device:

1. Verify that your audio device has a port that matches an available output port on the TV.

2. Turn the TV and your audio device off.

3. Connect the appropriate cable (not included) to the TV and the device.

4. Turn the TV and your audio device on.

To reset the TV to factory defaults, which will return you to the initial Setup App, press MENU > System > Reset & Admin > Reset TV to Factory Defaults. If you have changed the default Parental Control Passcode, enter it now. Select Reset. Remember that all of your settings will be lost.

• Press the VOLUME UP button on the remote.

• Press the MUTE button on the remote to ensure that mute is off.

• Press MENU > Audio. Be sure TV Speakers is set to On.

• Be sure your connected devices are turned on.

• Press the INPUT button on the remote and select the input to which your device is connected (HDMI-1, HDMI-2, COMP, etc.).

• Note that some television channels and content sources add black bars to the picture.

• To change the screen format, press the WIDE button on the remote, highlight Wide or Zoom, and press OK.

• You may also need to adjust the video settings of your external device (e.g., cable box, Blu-ray player).

• Be sure the power cord is securely connected to the AC socket on the TV and to a working electrical outlet.

• Press the POWER button on the remote or on the side of the TV.

• If the above steps do not work, try plugging the power cord into a different outlet.

• Be sure your TV is connected to the Internet.

• Restart the App by pressing the EXIT button to close the App, then open the App again.

• Reboot your TV by pressing the POWER button on the remote to turn it off, then turn it back on.

• If you are using an Ethernet cable, ensure it is securely connected to your router/modem and the TV.

• If you are connecting wirelessly, try repositioning your router for the best connection. Avoid obstructions like walls and large metal objects.

• Turn off all devices. Restart your router/modem.

• Try to use another internet-connected device to check if your internet service is working. If it is not working, call your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

• Make sure the batteries are properly inserted, matching the – and + symbols.

• Replace the batteries with fresh ones.

If an outside antenna/satellite dish or cable system is to be connected to the TV, make sure that the antenna or cable system is electrically grounded to provide some protection against voltage surges and static charges.

• Lightning Protection: For added protection of the TV during a lightning storm or when it is left unattended or unused for long periods of time, unplug the TV from the wall outlet and disconnect the antenna or cable system.

• Power Lines: Do not locate the antenna near overhead light or power circuits, or where it could fall into such power lines or circuits. Remember, the screen of the coaxial cable is intended to be connected to earth in the building installation.

Article 810 of the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPSA 70, provides information with regard to proper grounding of the mast and supporting structure, grounding of the lead-in wire to an antenna discharge unit, size of the grounding conductors, location of antenna discharge unit, connection to grounding electrodes, and requirements of the grounding electrode.

Your TV is designed and manufactured to operate within defined design limits. Misuse may result in electric shock or fire. To prevent your TV from being damaged, the following instructions should be observed for the installation, use, and maintenance of your TV.

• Read these instructions.

• Keep these instructions.

• Heed all warnings.

• Follow all instructions.

• Do not use this apparatus near water.

• Clean only with dry cloth.

• Do not block any ventilation openings. Install in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.

• Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat.

• Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched.

• Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.

• Use only with the cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table specified by the manufacturer, or sold with the apparatus. When a cart is used, use caution when moving the cart/apparatus combination to avoid injury from tip-over.

• Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time.

• Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.

• Maintain a distance of at least three feet between your TV and any heat source.

• Never push any object into the slots and openings on your TV cabinet. Do not place any objects on top of your TV.

• The wall socket should be installed near your TV and be easily accessible.

• Do not touch the power cord during lightning. To avoid electric shock, avoid handling the power cord during electrical storms.

• WARNING: Never place a television set in an unstable location. A television set may fall, causing serious personal injury or death. Many injuries, particularly to children, can be avoided by taking simple precautions such as using cabinets or stands recommended by the manufacturer, only using furniture that can safely support the television set, and ensuring the television set is not overhanging the edge of the supporting furniture.

If you are traveling internationally, check the customs regulations for device use for each country you will visit. You should also check the power cord and adapter requirements for each location in which you plan to use the device as voltage, frequency, and plug configurations may vary.

Warning: To reduce risk of electric shock, fire or damage to your device or other property, do not attempt to power the device with a voltage converter kit sold for appliances.

Caution: Battery cells may explode. Do not dispose of the battery in a fire or with ordinary household waste. Dispose of batteries promptly. Replace the battery only with the same or equivalent type of battery recommended by VIZIO.

This product qualifies for ENERGY STAR in the “factory default” setting, and this is the setting in which power savings will be achieved. Changing the factory default picture setting or enabling other features will increase power consumption that could exceed the limits necessary to qualify for an ENERGY STAR rating.
