The tp-link tapo P300 Smart Wi-Fi Power Strip offers independent control of 3 smart outlets and always-on USB ports to charge 3 other devices. Its features include:

The System LED on the tp-link tapo P300 indicates the device’s status:

• Blinking white and orange: Ready for setup; resetting

• Blinking white: Connecting to Wi-Fi

• Solid white: Connected to server and working properly

• Solid orange: Connected to Wi-Fi, but not to the server

• Blinking orange: Disconnected from Wi-Fi

There is also an LED for each of the 3 smart outlets, which lights up when the corresponding smart outlet is on.

The Power Button on the tp-link tapo P300 has multiple functions:

• Press once: Turn on or off the smart power strip.

• Press and hold for 5 seconds: Reset Wi-Fi settings while keeping other existing settings.

• Press and hold for 10 seconds: Restore the whole power strip to factory default settings.

The tp-link tapo P300 has three USB ports for charging your devices:

Put your power strip within the Wi-Fi range of your home Wi-Fi network. Generally, the power strip is placed on a horizontal surface, such as a shelf or desktop. The device can also be mounted on the wall.

For wall mounting, use screws with the following dimensions:

• The distance between the centers of the two mounting holes is 188mm.

• Screw Head Diameter (D): 4mm < D ≤ 7mm

• Screw Head Height (H): H < 2.5mm

• Screw Length (L): 3.5mm < L ≤ 4.5mm

Follow the steps below to set up your smart power strip via the Tapo app.

Step 1. Download Tapo App
Get the Tapo app from the App Store or Google Play.

Step 2. Log In
Open the app, and log in with your TP-Link ID. If you don’t have an account, create one first.

Step 3. Add Your Device
Tap the ‘+’ button in the Tapo app, choose Plugs, and select your model (Tapo P300). Follow the instructions in the Tapo app to complete the setup.

The tp-link tapo P300 is a HomeKit-enabled device. You can add it to the Home app for easy control from your iPhone or iPad.

Before you start:

1. Your iPhone should be connected to a stable 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.

2. HomeKit will be disabled after 10 minutes since the power strip is powered on. You can unplug the power strip and plug it back to restart your power strip, and then try again.

Add to Home:

1. Open the Home app. Or if you have already added the power strip to the Tapo app, you can tap Add to Home in the Device Settings page within the Tapo app.

2. Scan the HomeKit QR code on the bottom of the power strip. It will be added to Home automatically.

If you fail to add the device to the Home app, try the following:

1. Press and hold the Power button for at least 10 seconds to factory reset the power strip, and restart your phone. Then try again.

Amazon Frustration-Free Setup can help connect and set up Tapo smart devices in fewer steps, without having to remember and re-enter your Wi-Fi password on each device.

To use this feature, confirm the following:

• The new Tapo device supports Amazon FFS (short for Amazon Frustration-Free Setup).

• You have an Amazon FFS enabled Alexa device or router.

• You have saved your Wi-Fi information to Amazon by using Alexa echo.

• Your Tapo device and router are on the same network as your Alexa echo.

If the LED does not turn solid white after a long time, you can try to add the Tapo device manually.

1. Open the Amazon Alexa app. Then tap More and select Skills & Games.

2. Enter Tapo in the search bar and choose Tapo.

3. Tap the ENABLE TO USE button.

4. Log in with your TP-Link ID that has bound to your Tapo device, and tap Authorize. After authorized successfully, the message “Tapo has been successfully linked” will come up.

5. Plug in your Tapo device and the setup will complete automatically in two minutes.

Done!
If this device displays on the Home page in the Tapo app, it indicates this device has been successfully associated with your Amazon account and joined your Wi-Fi network automatically. If this device does not display on the Home page in the Tapo app, try setting it up manually. (Tap the + button on the page, select your device model, and then follow the app instructions to complete setup.)

After successfully setting up your smart power strip, you will see the home page of the Tapo app. Here you can view and manage all your added devices.

• Home Page: You can view the status of all your devices. You can turn on/off each outlet of your power strip any time anywhere and tap the outlet card to enter the status page.

• Device Status Page: Here you can turn on/off each outlet with one tap, customize Schedule, enable Away Mode, set a timer, and more.

• Device Settings Page: Tap the gear icon on the Device Status Page to view the Device Settings page. You can edit the basic information, control the LED, update firmware and more.

On the Device Status page in the Tapo app, tap “Schedule” to set schedules for each outlet of your power strip to automatically turn on/off, simplifying your daily routine.

On the Device Status page in the Tapo app, tap “Away” to preset the Away Mode. Set the start and end time, and the specific outlet of your power strip will be randomly turned on/off during this period to make it seem like someone is home.

On the Device Status page in the Tapo app, tap “Timer” to set a countdown timer. The specific outlet of your power strip will automatically turn on/off after the timer ends.

On the Device Status page for your power strip in the Tapo app, slide up to check the runtime for today, the past 7 days, or the past 30 days for each outlet.

Smart Actions automate repetitive tasks. Set everything up once and never have to worry about it again. A Shortcut lets you perform an action with a simple tap. Automation allows you to automate tasks to be performed at a set time, for example, the lamp plugged into your smart power strip will light on at 7 PM.

1. Go to the Smart Actions page in the Tapo app and you will see the Routine Actions (Shortcut or Automation).

2. Tap on a routine action. Tap EDIT to change the settings as needed and tap APPLY to save changes.

1. Go to the Smart Actions page and select the Shortcuts tab. Tap + on the top right to add a simple and smart action.

2. Add an action and choose whether to delay the action.

3. Name your shortcut and choose an icon. Tap Done to save all the settings.

1. Go to the Smart Actions page and select the Automation tab. Tap + on the top right to add a simple and smart action.

2. Name the new action. Tap + to add conditions (When) like the trigger time, and tap + to add tasks (Then) like turning on a switch.

3. Name your automation and set the effective time for the automation. Tap Done to save all the settings.

You can invite your family members to manage your Tapo devices together by entering the TP-Link ID (email) you want to share the devices with. There are three methods:

Method 1: On the home page of the Tapo app, long press an outlet card and tap Share. The three outlets will be shared altogether.

Method 2: Go to the Device Status page for the power strip, slide up and tap Device Sharing.

Method 3: Go to the Me page in the Tapo app and tap Device Sharing to view your shared devices and devices shared from others.

You can control your smart devices through third-party services, including voice control. Go to the “Me” page in the Tapo app and tap “Third-Party Services”. Select either Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant and follow the app instructions to link your account and control your device via voice.

Go to the “Me” page in the Tapo app, tap “Third-Party Services,” and select “Add to Siri.” Follow the app instructions to create a new, custom shortcut using the Shortcuts app for iPhone or iPad, and use Siri to control your devices.

Before You Start:

• Ensure your Tapo device is set up successfully and the remote control is working.

• Ensure the name of your Tapo device is easy to be recognized. Each Tapo device should have a unique name.

• Ensure you have updated your iOS devices to iOS 12 or above to use the Shortcuts app.

Go to the “Me” page in the Tapo app, tap “Third-Party Services,” and select “IFTTT.” Follow the app instructions to set up IFTTT. Before you begin, you need to use unique names like “Bedroom Lamp” or “Aquarium” when controlling devices with your IFTTT Applets.
