To operate the moon roof, use the overhead switches.

Perform the following procedure:

1. Stop the vehicle.
2. Press and hold the “CLOSE” switch. The moon roof will close, reopen and pause for approximately 10 seconds. Then it will close again, tilt up and pause for approximately 1 second. Finally, it will tilt down, open and close.
3. Check to make sure that the moon roof is completely closed and then release the switch.

If the moon roof tilts down but then tilts back up:

1. Stop the vehicle.
2. Press and hold the “UP” switch until the moon roof moves into the tilt up position and stops.
3. Release the “UP” switch once and then press and hold the “UP” switch again. The moon roof will pause for approximately 10 seconds in the tilt up position. Then it will adjust slightly and pause for approximately 1 second. Finally, it will tilt down, open and close.
4. Check to make sure that the moon roof is completely closed and then release the switch.

If the moon roof does not fully close even after performing the above procedure correctly, have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota dealer.

The doors will lock automatically when the vehicle speed is approximately 12 mph (20 km/h) or higher.

In the following cases, depending on the situation, the door may automatically lock to prevent improper entry into the vehicle:

• When a person remaining in the vehicle unlocks the door and the alarm is activated.

Turn the engine off and ensure that there is adequate ventilation before performing maintenance checks.

The brake fluid level should be between the “MAX” and “MIN” lines on the tank.

Here are some general maintenance operations:

• Check the battery connections.
• Check the brake fluid level.
• Check the engine coolant level.
• Check the engine oil level.

Operating the lever operates the wipers or washer as follows:

1. OFF (U.S.A.) or (Canada): Off
2. INT (U.S.A.) or ■■■ (Canada): Intermittent windshield wiper operation
3. LO (U.S.A.) or (Canada): Low speed windshield wiper operation
4. HI (U.S.A.) or (Canada): High speed windshield wiper operation
5. MIST (U.S.A.) or ▲ (Canada): Temporary operation
6. (With Interval adjustment type only): Increase the intermittent windshield wiper frequency.
7. (With Interval adjustment type only): Decreases the intermittent windshield wiper frequency.
8. : Washer/wiper dual operation. Pulling the lever operates the wipers and washer.

To open the fuel tank cap, perform the following steps:

1. Pull up the opener to open the fuel filler door.
2. Turn the fuel tank cap slowly and remove it, then hang it on the back of the fuel filler door.

Before refueling the vehicle:

• Turn the engine switch off and ensure that all the doors and windows are closed.
• Confirm the type of fuel.

1. Push the seat belt shoulder anchor down while pressing the release button.
2. Push the seat belt shoulder anchor up while pressing the release button.

Move the height adjuster up and down as needed until you hear a click.

1. To fasten the seat belt, push the plate into the buckle until a click sound is heard.
2. To release the seat belt, press the release button.

• Slight abrasions, burns, bruising, etc., may be sustained from SRS airbags, due to the extremely high speed of deployment (inflation) by hot gases.
• A loud noise and white powder will be emitted.
• Parts of the airbag module (steering wheel hub, airbag cover and inflator) as well as the parts around the airbags may be hot for several minutes. The airbag itself may also be hot.
• The windshield may crack.
• All of the doors will be unlocked.
• The brakes and stop lights will be controlled automatically.
• The interior lights will turn on automatically.
• The emergency flashers will turn on automatically.
• Fuel supply to the engine will be stopped.

The engine immobilizer system may not have been deactivated, contact your Toyota dealer.

1. Set the parking brake.
2. Check that the shift lever is in P.
3. Turn the engine switch to ACC.
4. Press and hold the engine switch for about 15 seconds while depressing the brake pedal firmly.

Extend the shoulder belt so that it comes fully over the shoulder, but does not come into contact with the neck or slide off the shoulder.

The following SRS airbags will deploy in the event of an impact that exceeds a threshold level (level of force corresponding to an approximately 12 – 18 mph [20 – 30 km/h] frontal collision with a fixed wall that does not move or deform):

• SRS front airbags
• SRS knee airbag

1. Place the child restraint system on the rear seat facing the rear of the vehicle.
2. Run the seat belt through the child restraint system and insert the plate into the buckle. Make sure that the belt is not twisted.
3. Fully extend the shoulder belt and allow it to retract to put it in lock mode. In lock mode, the belt cannot be extended.
4. While pushing the child restraint system down into the rear seat, allow the shoulder belt to retract until the child restraint system is securely in place.
5. After installing the child restraint system, rock it back and forth to ensure that it is installed securely.

1. Select or of the multi-information display.
2. Press or to select “Vehicle Settings” and then press and hold OK .

With the headlights on, push the lever away from you to turn on the high beams. Pull the lever toward you to the center position to turn the high beams off. Pull the lever toward you and release it to flash the high beams once. You can flash the high beams with the headlights on or off.

1. To select a mirror to adjust, turn the switch.
2. To adjust the mirror, operate the switch.

1. Remove the tire valve cap.
2. Press the tip of the tire pressure gauge onto the tire valve.
3. Read the pressure using the gauge gradations.
4. If the tire inflation pressure is not at the recommended level, adjust the pressure. If you add too much air, press the center of the valve to deflate.
5. After completing the tire inflation pressure measurement and adjustment, apply soapy water to the valve and check for leakage.
6. Put the tire valve cap back on.

1. Locate the statement “The combined weight of occupants and cargo should never exceed XXX kg or XXX lbs.” on your vehicle’s placard.
2. Determine the combined weight of the driver and passengers that will be riding in your vehicle.
3. Subtract the combined weight of the driver and passengers from XXX kg or XXX lbs.
4. The resulting figure equals the available amount of cargo and luggage load capacity.

1. Steadily step on the brake pedal with both feet and firmly depress it. Do not pump the brake pedal repeatedly as this will increase the effort required to slow the vehicle.
2. Shift the shift lever to N.
3. After slowing down, stop the vehicle in a safe place by the road.
4. Stop the engine. If the shift lever cannot be shifted to N: Keep depressing the brake pedal with both feet to reduce vehicle speed as much as possible.

Vehicles without a smart key system: Stop the engine by turning the engine switch to ACC.

• Opening from inside the cabin:
1. Press and hold the switch.
2. Unlock the back door before operating.
3. Pressing the switch while the back door is opening/closing will stop the operation. Pressing and holding the switch again will operate the back door in the opposite direction.
• Opening from outside: Press the switch. Pressing the switch while the back door is opening/closing will stop the operation. Pressing the switch again will open the back door.

1. Remove dirt and dust using a vacuum cleaner.
2. Wipe dirty surfaces with a cloth dampened with lukewarm water.
3. If dirt cannot be removed, wipe it off with a soft cloth dampened with neutral detergent diluted to approximately 1%.
4. Wring out any excess water from the cloth and thoroughly wipe off remaining traces of detergent and water.

1. Working from top to bottom, liberally apply water to the vehicle body, wheel wells and underside of the vehicle to remove any dirt and dust.
2. Wash the vehicle body using a sponge or soft cloth, such as a chamois.
3. For hard-to-remove marks, use car wash soap and rinse thoroughly with water.
4. Wipe away any water.
5. Wax the vehicle when the waterproof coating deteriorates. If water does not bead on a clean surface, apply wax when the vehicle body is cool.
