• If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.

• Before cleaning, turn off the power and unplug the unit.

• Disconnect the power if strange sounds, smell, or smoke comes from it.

• Do not operate or stop the unit by inserting or pulling out the power cord plug.

• Always transport your air conditioner in a vertical position and stand on a stable, level surface during use.

• Hold the plug by the head of the power plug when taking it out.

• Turn off the product when not in use.

WARNING: BEFORE PERFORMING ANY ELECTRICAL OR WIRING WORK, TURN OFF THE MAIN POWER TO THE SYSTEM.

• Installation must be performed according to the installation instructions. Improper installation can cause water leakage, electrical shock, or fire.

• Use only the included accessories and parts, and specified tools for the installation.

• Make sure that the outlet you are using is grounded and has the appropriate voltage. The power cord is equipped with a three-prong grounding plug to protect against shock.

• Your unit must be used in a properly grounded wall receptacle. If the wall receptacle you intend to use is not adequately grounded or protected by a time delay fuse or circuit breaker, have a qualified electrician install the proper receptacle.

• Do not touch the unit with wet or damp hands or when barefoot.

• In a thunderstorm, the power must be cut off to avoid damage to the machine due to lightning.

• Install the unit on a flat, sturdy surface. Failure to do so could result in damage or excessive noise and vibration.

• Do not modify the length of the power cord or use an extension cord to power the unit.

• Do not share a single outlet with other electrical appliances. Improper power supply can cause fire or electrical shock.

• Do not install the unit in a location that may be exposed to combustible gas, as this could cause fire.

• All wiring must be performed strictly in accordance with the wiring diagram located inside of the unit.

• The unit’s circuit board (PCB) is designed with a fuse to provide overcurrent protection. The specifications of the fuse are printed on the circuit board, such as: T 3.15A/250V.

• When the water drainage function is not in use, keep the upper and the lower drain plug firmly attached to the unit to prevent choking hazards for children.

The power supply cord contains a measurement current device that senses damage. Test your power supply cord as follows:

1. Plug in the air conditioner.

2. The power supply cord will have TWO buttons on the plug head. Press the TEST button. You will notice a click as the RESET button pops out.

3. Press the RESET Button. You will notice a click as the button engages.

4. The power supply cord is now supplying electricity to the unit. On some products, this is also indicated by a light on the plug head.

NOTICE:

• Do not use this device to turn the unit on or off.

• Always make sure the RESET button is pushed in for correct operation.

• The power supply must be replaced if it fails to reset when either the TEST button is pushed, or it cannot be reset. Please contact Customer Service.

• Do not, under any circumstances, cut, remove, or bypass the grounding prong on the power supply cord.

The TOSHIBA TAPX08W5HWT uses Flammable Refrigerant R32. Follow these instructions carefully to avoid any damage or hazard.

• Servicing shall only be performed as recommended by the equipment manufacturer. Maintenance and repair requiring the assistance of other skilled personnel shall be carried out under the supervision of the person competent in the use of flammable refrigerants.

• When maintaining or disposing of the appliance, the refrigerant (R32) must be recovered properly and not discharged directly to the air.

• Keep ventilation openings clear of obstruction.

• The appliance shall be stored in a well-ventilated area where the room size corresponds to the room area as specified for operation, and stored so as to prevent mechanical damage from occurring.

• Do not use means to accelerate the defrosting process or to clean, other than those recommended by the manufacturer.

• The appliance shall be stored in a room without continuously operating ignition sources (e.g., open flames, an operating gas appliance or an operating electric heater).

• Do not pierce or burn the appliance.

• Be aware that the refrigerants may not contain an odour.

• Any person working on a refrigerant circuit should hold a current valid certificate from an industry-accredited assessment authority, which authorizes their competence to handle refrigerants safely.

Federal regulations require manufacturers to calculate cooling capacity based on a specific test procedure that was changed for models produced after 2017. While the BTUs may appear lower, the actual cooling capacity of the air conditioners has not changed.

SACC is the representative value of Seasonally Adjusted Cooling Capacity, in Btu/h, as determined in accordance with the DOE test procedure at title 10 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 430, subpart B, appendix CC and applicable sampling plans.

Your installation location for the TOSHIBA TAPX08W5HWT should meet the following requirements:

• Install your unit on an even surface to minimize noise and vibration.

• The unit must be installed near a grounded plug, and the Collection Tray Drain (on the back of the unit) must be accessible.

• The unit should be located at least 30cm (12″) from the nearest wall to ensure proper air conditioning.

• The air outlet of the unit should be at least 50cm (19.7″) away from obstacles.

• DO NOT cover the Intakes, Outlets, or Remote Signal Receptor of the unit, as this could cause damage.

Tools Needed (Not Included):

• Screwdriver & wrench

1. Prepare the Exhaust Hose Assembly:

• Press the exhaust hose into the window slider adaptor and unit adaptor. It will clamp automatically by elastic buckles.

2. Prepare the Adjustable Window Slider:

• Choose the window sliders according to the size of your window. You may need to cut them to fit.

• Use the provided bolts to fasten the window sliders once they are adjusted to the proper length.

3. Complete Sealing of Window:

• Cut the adhesive foam seal A and B strips to the proper lengths and attach them to the window sash and frame.

4. Install in Hung or Sliding Window:

• Step 1: Insert the window slider assembly into the window opening.

• Step 2: Cut the non-adhesive foam seal C strip to match the width/height of the window. Insert the seal between the glass and the window frame to prevent air and insects from getting into the room.

• Step 3: If desired, install the security bracket with 2 screws.

5. Install the Exhaust Hose Assembly to the Unit:

• Push the exhaust hose into the air outlet opening of the unit. Ensure the adaptor is inserted into the lower groove of the air outlet.

6. Connect to the Window:

• Insert the window slider adapter into the hole of the window slider.

IMPORTANT: To ensure proper function, DO NOT overextend or bend the hose. Make sure there is no obstacle around the air outlet of the exhaust hose (in the range of 500mm).

1. POWER Button: Powers the unit on/off. Also used to initiate the Wireless function.

2. MODE Function: Selects the operating mode. Each press cycles through AUTO, COOL, DRY, FAN.

3. UP (+/∧) and DOWN (-/✓) Buttons: Adjust temperature settings in 1°C/2°F (or 1°F) increments, from 16°C/60°F to 30°C/88°F. Also sets the timer from 0-24 hours. To switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit, press and hold the Up and Down buttons at the same time for 3 seconds.

4. DISPLAY: Shows the set temperature, Auto-timer settings, and error codes. In DRY and FAN modes, it shows the room temperature.

5. TIMER Button: Initiates the AUTO ON and AUTO OFF timer program.

6. SWING Mode: Starts or stops the auto swing feature for the louver.

7. FAN SPEED Button: In COOL or FAN mode, press to choose the fan speed (LOW, MED, HIGH, AUTO).

8. CONSTANT FAN Function: In COOL or DRY mode, press and hold for 3 seconds to turn the constant fan function on or off.

9. SLEEP Mode: Press to initiate sleep mode. The temperature will adjust slightly for 7 hours for energy-efficient comfort, then return to the original setting. Press and hold for 3 seconds to reset the filter clean reminder.

The display shows the following error and protection codes:

• EH60: Room temperature sensor error.

• EH61: Evaporator temperature sensor error.

• EC52: Condenser temperature sensor error (on some models).

• EHOB: Display panel communication error.

• ELOC: Refrigerant leakage detection malfunction (on some models).

• P1: Bottom tray is full. Connect the drain hose and drain the collected water. If the P1 code does not erase, call for service.

Continuous Drainage (During Dehumidifying or Heat Pump Mode):

1. Remove the upper drain plug from the back of the unit.

2. Install the drain connector (5/8″ universal female mender) with a 3/4″ hose (not included).

3. Direct the hose toward a drain, making sure there are no kinks. Place the end of the hose into the drain, ensuring it is positioned downwards to let water flow smoothly.

Manual Drainage (When “P1” Error Appears):

When the water level of the bottom tray is full, the unit beeps 8 times and the display shows “P1”.

1. Carefully move the unit to a drain location.

2. Remove the bottom drain plug and let the water drain away.

3. Reinstall the bottom drain plug firmly to prevent leakage.

4. Restart the machine. The “P1” symbol should disappear. If the error repeats, call for service.

CAUTION: Always unplug the unit before cleaning or servicing.

Air Filter & Cabinet Cleaning:

1. Take the filter out by pulling it in the direction of the arrow.

2. Wash the air filter by gently immersing it in warm water (about 40°C/104°F) with a neutral detergent.

3. Rinse the filter and let it dry completely in a shady place.

4. Reinstall the air filter after cleaning.

5. Clean the unit’s cabinet using a damp, lint-free cloth and mild detergent. Dry with a dry, lint-free cloth.

Maintenance Tips:

• Clean the air filter every 2 weeks for optimal performance.

• The water collection tray should be drained immediately after a P1 error occurs and before storage to prevent mold.

• In households with animals, periodically wipe down the grill to prevent blocked airflow due to animal hair.

• DO NOT operate the unit without a filter, as dirt and lint will clog it and reduce performance.

Step 1: Drain the unit’s water collection tray and reinstall the bottom drain plug.

Step 2: Run the appliance on FAN mode for 12 hours in a warm room to dry it and prevent mold.

Step 3: Turn off the appliance and unplug it.

Step 4: Clean the machine cabinet.

Step 5: Clean the air filter and reinstall the clean, dry filter before storing.

Step 6: Remove the batteries from the remote control.

NOTICE: Be sure to store the unit in a cool, dark place. Exposure to direct sunshine or extreme heat can shorten the lifespan of the unit.

The following problems are not a malfunction and in most situations will not require repairs. Please check the following before calling for service:

• ON/OFF: Turns the unit on or off.

• MODE: Scrolls through operation modes: AUTO → COOL → DRY → HEAT → FAN. (Note: Do not select HEAT mode if your model is cool-only).

• TEMP ▲/▼: Increases or decreases temperature in 1° increments. Pressing and holding both together for 3 seconds will alternate the temperature display between °C & °F scale.

• FAN SPEED: Selects fan speeds in the following order: AUTO → LOW → MED → HIGH.

• TIMER ON: Sets timer to turn unit on.

• TIMER OFF: Sets timer to turn unit off.

• SLEEP: Saves energy during sleeping hours.

• SWING: Starts and stops louver movement.

• SHORT CUT: Sets and activates your favorite pre-settings.

• LED: Turns the AC’s LED display on and off.

• MyTemp: Turns the MyTemp feature on and off, which measures temperature at the remote’s location.

Inserting and Replacing Batteries:

Your unit comes with two AAA batteries. Insert them before use.

1. Slide the back cover of the remote control downward, exposing the battery compartment.

2. Insert the batteries, paying attention to align the (+) and (-) ends of the batteries with the symbols inside the battery compartment.

3. Slide the battery cover back into place.

Battery Notes:

• For optimum performance, do not mix old and new batteries, or batteries of different types.

• Do not leave batteries in the remote control if you don’t plan on using the device for more than 2 months.

Tips for Using Remote Control:

• The remote control must be used within 26 feet / 8 meters of the unit.

• The unit will beep when it receives a signal from the remote.

• Curtains, other materials, and direct sunlight can interfere with the IR signal receiver.

Your air conditioner has two timer-related functions: TIMER ON and TIMER OFF.

TIMER ON Function:

1. Press the TIMER ON button. The last time period you set and an “h” (indicating hours) will appear on the display.

2. Press the TIMER ON button repeatedly to set the time you want the unit to turn on. For example, if you set TIMER ON for 2 hours, “2.0h” will appear.

3. Wait 2 seconds for the function to activate. The remote display will return to the temperature display.

TIMER OFF Function:

1. Press the TIMER OFF button. The last time period you set and an “h” will appear on the display.

2. Press the TIMER OFF button repeatedly to set the time you want the unit to turn off.

Setting Both TIMER ON and TIMER OFF:

Keep in mind that the time periods you set for both functions refer to hours after the current time. For example, if it’s 1:00 PM and you want the unit to turn on at 7:00 PM (6 hours later) and turn off at 9:00 PM (8 hours later), you would set TIMER ON to “6.0h” and TIMER OFF to “8.0h”.

Note: When setting the timer, up to 10 hours, the time will increase in 30-minute increments. After 10 hours and up to 24, it will increase in 1-hour increments. You can turn off a function by setting the timer to “0.0h”.

• SLEEP Function: Used to decrease energy use while you sleep. The temperature settings adjust for comfort and efficiency. This function is not available in FAN or DRY mode.

• SWING Function: Used to stop or start louver movement and set the desired up/down air flow direction. The louver angle changes in 6-degree increments with each press. Pressing for more than 2 seconds activates the auto swing feature.

• MyTemp Function: Enables the remote control to measure the temperature at its current location instead of at the indoor unit. This helps optimize the temperature around you. The remote sends a temperature signal to the unit every three minutes. Press the button to activate and press again to turn off.

• SHORTCUT Function: Push this button to restore the previous settings (operating mode, temperature, fan speed, sleep feature). By pressing for more than 2 seconds, the system will automatically store the current operation settings.

Yes, please consider the following before using the smart functions:

• Supported OS: iOS 7+ or Android 4+.

• Encryption: The Smart AC only supports WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK (recommended) encryption.

• Camera: To ensure proper scanning of the QR code, your smartphone must have at least a 5-megapixel camera.

• Network Connectivity: Due to unstable network connectivity, requests or commands may time out. If this happens, re-run the network configuration or refresh the app to re-sync. Toshiba is not responsible for problems caused by incompatibility or network issues with your wireless router and mobile phone.

System Requirements:

1. Smart Phone with a compatible iOS or Android system.

2. Wireless Router (a 2.4GHz network is required to connect).

3. Smart Air Conditioner.

Make sure your smartphone is connected to your wireless router and your router has a working 2.4GHz internet connection.

6.1: Open the app and press “Sign Up”.

6.2: Enter your email address and create a password.

6.3: Press “Register”.

6.4: If you forget your password, press “Forgot password?” on the main menu, enter your email address, and then press “Reset Password”.

NOTICE: Make sure your smartphone is able to connect to the wireless network which will be used. Make sure also that the device is not connecting to other networks in range.
