What are the functions of the TOA SV-200MA Surveillance Board?
The TOA SV-200MA Surveillance Board provides the following functions when mounted in the system amplifier:
• Surveillance input and output connector [SURVEILLANCE I/O]: A 25-pin, female D-sub connector that features an input to activate the surveillance (failure detection) function and an output to indicate the result.
• Failure Monitoring: It monitors for failures in the unit’s power amplifier section and ground faults on the speaker line, outputting the result to the front panel Failure Indicator [FAULT].
• Speaker Line Surveillance: This function is performed by suspending a broadcast when activated from external equipment or the board’s internal timer. During this pause, all zone indicators flash. If a speaker line short is detected, the [FAULT] indicator lights, and the corresponding zone indicator flashes.
• Speaker line impedance setting key [SET]: Measures and sets each speaker line’s reference impedance value, which is used for surveillance criteria.
• Line check key [CHECK]: Checks each speaker line impedance for line failure detection.
How do I perform an Emergency Broadcast with the TOA SV-200MA system?
Follow this procedure for a typical emergency broadcast operation:
Step 1. Alert Broadcast
Open the RM-200 Remote Microphone’s Emergency broadcast switch cover and press the switch. A pre-recorded Alert signal tone and announcement will be alternately broadcast to the entire zone for a preset number of repetitions. The EMERGENCY indicators on the remote microphone and amplifier will light up. This action terminates all current general-purpose broadcasts. (This can also be activated by an external fire alarm system).
Step 2. Evacuation Broadcast
After the Alert broadcast repeats as programmed, the system automatically switches to the Evacuation broadcast. A pre-recorded Evacuation signal tone and announcement will be alternately broadcast to the entire zone. (This can also be activated directly by an external fire alarm system).
Step 3. Live Microphone Announcement
During either the Alert or Evacuation broadcast, you can make a live announcement.
3-1. Hold down the Remote Microphone’s Talk key. This interrupts the current emergency broadcast and allows you to speak to the entire zone.
3-2. When you release the Talk key, the announcement terminates, and the system reverts to the Evacuation broadcast.
Note: In Emergency Broadcast mode, the Talk key always operates in a “press-to-talk” manner, regardless of its setting.
How is an Emergency Broadcast terminated on the TOA SV-200MA system?
To terminate the Emergency broadcast, activate the Emergency Stop input via the corresponding connected external equipment. The unit will then return to the general-purpose broadcast mode it was in before the emergency began, and the EMERGENCY indicators on the remote microphone and amplifier will go out.
Please note the following:
• Emergency broadcasts are always at the maximum volume level; master and zone volume controls are disabled.
• The emergency broadcast cannot be terminated from the Remote Microphone.
• If the broadcast is stopped using the amplifier’s Reset key, the unit may not return to its previous mode.
• If the system is not equipped with the optional EV-200M board, you can still enter emergency mode and make live announcements from the Remote Microphone to the entire area.
