| YS-4CM | XLR-4-32-F77 | XLR-4-11C | 10 A |
Applicable plate (common to all above models): YP-1AF Plate (optional)
XLM type and XLR type connectors are the products of ITT Corporation.
What are the required dimensions for the mounting opening for the TOA YM-1J?
To fit the electrical box for the TOA YM-1J in the wall or ceiling, make an opening according to the following dimensions:
Width: 46 – 50 mm (1.81 – 1.97 in)
Height: 83.5 mm (3.29 in)
The overall height required for fitting is 90 – 98 mm (3.54 – 3.86 in).
Note: When a low-voltage circuit and a low-power circuit are housed in the same box, provide a partition to isolate them from each other.
What types of cables are compatible with the TOA YM-1J series connectors?
| YM-1J, YM-3CF, YM-3CM | Microphone vinyl cable, Cross-sectional area: 0.75 – 2.0 mm² (AWG 18 – 14) |
| YS-4CF, YS-4CM | 600 V vinyl-insulated cable or equivalent, Diameter: 0.8 – 1.6 mm (AWG 20 – 14) or Cross-sectional area: 0.9 – 2.0 mm² (AWG 17 – 14) |
Notes on cable installation:
• For cables with a sectional area of under 0.75 mm², fold back their cores to increase the sectional area before connection.
• If a thick cable is used, the circuit board can be damaged when mounting the connector in an electrical box. Take care that excessive force is not applied to the circuit board when mounting.
How do I wire the different connectors in the TOA YM-1J series?
The wiring connections vary by model. The terminals are defined as H: Hot, C: Cold, and E: Shield.
[YM-1J]
• Connection of balanced double pole plug:
Pin 5: H (+)
Pin 4: Connects to Pin 5
Pin 7: C (-)
Pin 8: Connects to Pin 7
Pin 1: E (Shield)
• Connection of unbalanced single pole plug:
Pin 5: H (+)
Pin 4: Connects to Pin 5
Pin 7: C (-)
Pin 8: Connects to Pin 7
Pin 1: E (Shield) (-)
For this connection, short terminals C and E.
[YS-4CF]
The 4-pin female connector is wired as follows:
Pin 1 to Terminal ①
Pin 2 to Terminal ②
Pin 3 to Terminal ③
Pin 4 to Terminal ④
[YS-4CM]
The 4-pin male connector is wired as follows:
Pin 1 to Terminal ①
Pin 2 to Terminal ②
Pin 3 to Terminal ③
Pin 4 to Terminal ④
[YM-3CF]
The 3-pin female connector is wired as follows:
Pin 1 to Terminal ①: E (Shield)
Pin 2 to Terminal ②: H [USA type: – (C)]
Pin 3 to Terminal ③: C [USA type: + (H)]
[YM-3CM]
The 3-pin male connector is wired as follows:
Pin 1 to Terminal ①: E (Shield)
Pin 2 to Terminal ②: H [USA type: – (C)]
Pin 3 to Terminal ③: C [USA type: + (H)]
Can I use mixers or amplifiers with phantom power with the TOA YM-1J connector?
No. For the YM-1J model, as terminals H, C, and E are shorted when not used, mixers or amplifiers using phantom power cannot be used.
