Please read all safety and operating instructions before using the TECHNIKA LCD32-256 television.

Warnings:

• To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock or damage, do not expose the television to dust, rain or moisture, or place any objects filled with liquids on or near it.

• Do not place the television in a confined space. Ensure nothing obstructs the ventilation openings at the rear of the television.

• To prevent the spread of fire, keep candles or other open flames away from this product at all times.

• Dispose of this television and any components including batteries in an environmentally friendly manner. If in doubt, please contact your local authority for details of recycling.

Safety:

• For your safety, this appliance is fitted with a fused moulded 3 pin mains plug. If the fuse needs to be replaced, ensure any replacement is of the same amperage and approved with the BSI mark.

• The television should be connected to a main socket outlet with a protective earthing connection.

• Never attempt to replace the mains plug unless you have adequate qualifications and are legally authorised to do so.

• Never use the television if it is damaged in any way.

• Always place the television on a flat, level surface, avoiding areas subject to strong vibration.

• Ensure the television is not placed on top of the power cable, as its weight may damage the cable and cause a safety hazard.

• Never place mobile phones, speakers, or any other device that may cause magnetic or radio interference near the television. If interference occurs, move the device away from the television.

• To disconnect the apparatus from the mains, use the all-pole mains switch located on the side, underside, or rear of the TV. The switch should remain readily operable.

• Batteries shall not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire, or the like.

• Install the product at least 5cm from the wall for ventilation.

Follow these maintenance instructions for cleaning your TECHNIKA LCD32-256:

• To clean the unit, wipe it with a soft, dry cloth. If the surfaces are extremely dirty, use a soft cloth dipped in a soap and water solution or a mild detergent solution.

• Use eyeglass cleaner to remove stubborn dirt from the LCD Screen.

• Never use alcohol, paint thinner, or benzene to clean this unit.

• Before using a chemically treated cloth, read the instructions that came with the cloth carefully.

CAUTION: If water or other liquid enters the television through the display panel surface or back cover, a malfunction may occur.

The extended use of fixed image program material can cause a permanent “shadow image” on the LCD panel. This type of irreversible LCD panel deterioration can be limited by observing the following steps:

1. Reduce the brightness/contrast setting to a minimum viewing level.

2. Do not display the fixed image for extended periods of time.

3. Turn the power off when not in actual use.

Examples of images to be cautious with include:

• TV Channel Logos: Especially bright and stationary ones like on shopping channels. Moving or low-contrast graphics are less likely to cause screen ageing.

• Time Displays

• Teletext: Do not view a stationary page for a long period of time.

• TV/DVD Menus: e.g., Listings of DVD disk content.

• Pause Mode: Do not leave the TV in pause mode for long periods of time, e.g., when watching DVDs or videos.

Important: Once ‘shadow image/screen burn’ occurs, it will never disappear and is not repairable under warranty.

Please save your packaging as you will need it in the event of warranty/service repair or support.

Attaching the Stand

1. Insert the stand into the neck of the TV.

2. Secure the stand using the screws provided.

Detaching the Stand

1. To remove the base, press close and rotate it 45 degrees.

2. Remove the 4 highlighted screws.

3. Remove the screw(s) in the neck of the stand (where fitted).

1. Remove the four screws from the mounting holes on the rear of the TV.

2. The wall mount can now be easily attached to these mounting holes.

Important: If wall mounting this TV, only use the screws already provided in the wall mounting holes. Using other screws which are longer could cause irreparable damage to internal parts.

For optimum viewing, if the TV is mounted higher than eye level, it should be tilted downwards so that the screen is ‘face on’.

IMPORTANT: Before drilling any holes in the wall, ensure you are not drilling where there could be any electric wires, water, or gas pipes. If in doubt, please contact a qualified tradesman.

1. Using the supplied RF cable, connect the TV to the TV Aerial wall socket.

2. Connect the power cable to the electrical outlet.

3. Switch on the television using the power on/off switch located on the side of the TV.

4. Insert the supplied batteries into the remote control and press the Standby button to power on the TV.

5. You will be welcomed with the initial set-up screen. Select ‘Ecohome’ mode for the most energy-efficient TV setup. If this screen does not appear, press [MENU] then 8-8-8-8 on the remote control. Press OK on the remote control to start tuning.

6. After tuning is complete, a confirmation screen will appear. Press OK to Exit.

If you are missing channels, the reason is likely to be signal strength. You should consider connecting a signal booster and re-tuning the TV.

The buttons on the side of the TV have the following functions:

• VOL+ / VOL-: Volume up/down and menu right/left.

• CH+ / CH-: Programme/Channel up/down and menu up/down.

• MENU: Displays Menu/OSD.

• SOURCE: Displays the input source menu.

• STANDBY: Power On/Off.

The following buttons are available on 26″ and 32″ DVD models only:

• Eject Disc

• Play/Pause Disc

• Stop Disc

You can switch between different input/connections using either the remote control or the buttons on the television.

A) Using the remote control:

1. Press [SOURCE/AV]. The source menu will appear.

2. Press the up or down arrow buttons to select the input you require.

3. Press [OK].

B) Using the buttons on the Television:

1. Press [SOURCE].

2. Scroll up/down using the CH+ / CH- buttons to the input/source you require.

3. Press Vol+ to change to the selected input/source.

The available sources are: FREEVIEW, ANALOGUE, SCART, COMPONENT, VGA/PC, HDMI1, HDMI2, HDMI3, VIDEO, USB MEDIA, DVD (only available on models with a DVD Player).

• STANDBY: Switch on TV when in standby or vice versa.

• MUTE: Mute the sound or vice versa.

• TV/RADIO: Switch between TV and radio in Freeview mode.

• TV GUIDE: Opens the 7 Day TV Guide (Freeview mode).

• ATV: Switch to analogue TV source.

• USB: Switch to USB source.

• DVD: Switch to DVD source (DVD models only).

• EJECT: Eject disc in DVD mode (DVD models only).

• S.MODE: Scrolls through sound mode options.

• P.MODE: Scrolls through picture mode options.

• Playback Controls (Rewind, Play/Pause, Forward, Previous, Stop, Next): Control media playback.

• SOURCE/AV: Display the input/source menu.

• INFO: Press once for now/next channel information; press twice for current programme information.

• Arrow Buttons / OK: Navigate on-screen menus and adjust settings.

• MENU: Display OSD menu.

• EXIT: Exit all menus.

• NUMBER BUTTONS (0-9): Select a TV channel directly.

• Return Button: Return to the previous channel viewed.

• FAV: Display favourites menu.

• VOL +/-: Increase/decrease the sound level.

• CH +/-: Increase/decrease the channel being watched.

• SUBTITLE: Switch the on-screen dialogue (subtitles) on/off.

• ASPECT: Switch the screen between different picture formats.

• AUDIO: Change the audio language (if available).

• SLEEP: Press repeatedly to cycle through the sleep timer options.

• DVD/Teletext Controls (D.DIS, ZOOM, SIZE, DISPLAY, D.SETUP, D.MENU, TITLE, TEXT, INDEX, REVEAL, HOLD): Various functions for DVD mode and Teletext mode.

• DVD Player/Recorder, VCR, or Cable/Satellite Box: Connect using a SCART cable. Set the TV’s Input/Source to SCART.

• Camcorder, Camera, or Games Console: Connect using a composite video cable (Yellow for video, White and Red for audio). Set the TV’s Input/Source to Video.

• High Definition (HD) Device:

– Option 1 (HDMI): Use an HDMI cable for both video and audio. Set the TV’s Input/Source to the corresponding HDMI port (HDMI1, HDMI2, or HDMI3).

– Option 2 (Component): Use a component cable (Red, Green, Blue for picture) and a phono cable (Red, White for sound). Set the TV’s Input/Source to Component.

To access the main menu, press the [MENU] button on the remote control. Use the arrow buttons to navigate and press [OK] to enter a sub-menu or confirm a setting. To exit at any time, press the [EXIT] button.

The main menu is divided into the following sections:

• CHANNEL MENU: For tuning and editing channels (Auto Tuning, Manual Tuning, Programme Edit).

• PICTURE MENU: Adjust picture settings like Picture Mode, Contrast, Brightness, Colour, etc.

• SOUND MENU: Adjust sound settings like Sound Mode, Treble, Bass, Balance, etc.

• TIME MENU: Set the clock, sleep timer, on/off timers, and auto standby.

• FEATURE MENU: Access Schedule List, CI Information, and System Lock.

• SETUP MENU: Change language, aspect ratio, blue screen, menu duration, and reset to default.

You can choose from the following presets in the Picture Menu:

You can choose from the following presets in the Sound Menu. Note that Treble and Bass levels can only be adjusted when the sound mode is set to ‘Personal’.

In the Setup Menu, you can select Aspect Ratio to change the picture format. The options are:

• Auto: Automatically displays the best picture format. The picture will be in the correct position, but may have black lines at the top/bottom and/or sides.

• Original: Will display the picture from the broadcaster without any change.

• Zoom: The picture is in the correct proportion but zoomed in to fill the screen.

• 4:3: Displays the 4:3 picture in its original size. Side bars are shown to fill the 16:9 screen.

• 16:9: Stretches a 4:3 picture to fill the 16:9 screen. Top and bottom bars are shown for some formats.

• 14:9: Displays the 14:9 picture in the correct proportion. As a result, side bars are shown on the screen.

To access the DVD setup menu, press the [MENU] button on the remote while in DVD mode. You can adjust the following settings:

• TV System: Choose between NTSC, PAL, or Auto.

• TV Type: Choose the picture format (4:3PS, 4:3 LB, 16:9).

• Default: Reset all DVD settings to factory settings.

• Tone: Increase treble (+) or bass (-).

• Dynamic Range: Adjust the difference between the quietest and loudest sounds (for Dolby Digital discs).

• Dual Mono: Select audio output (Stereo, Mono L, Mono R, Mix Mono).

IMPORTANT: Before connecting the computer to the television, you must ensure the computer settings are correct for the television. You MUST do this using your old monitor first.

Setup for Windows XP & Windows Vista (via VGA cable):

1. With your old monitor connected, switch on your computer.

2. Right-click your mouse anywhere on the screen and select Properties (XP) or Personalise (Vista).

3. Go to Settings (XP) or Display Settings (Vista).

4. Ensure the screen resolution is set to 1366 x 768 (as shown in the technical specifications).

5. Click on Advanced Settings and then the Monitor tab.

6. Set the Screen refresh rate to 60 Hertz. If you experience picture noise or ‘flickering’, try 50 Hertz or 70 Hertz.

7. Click Apply, then Yes to save the settings.

8. Now switch off your computer and connect the TECHNIKA LCD32-256 television using a VGA cable and a 3.5mm audio cable (for sound).

9. Switch on the TV, select the input/source to VGA/PC, and then restart your PC.

Connecting a Laptop:

In addition to the above, you will need to activate the VGA connection on the laptop. This is often done by pressing a function key combination, such as Fn + F5. This can vary by brand.

The TV Guide is available in Digital TV mode and provides information about forthcoming programmes for the next 7 days.

1. Press [TV GUIDE] on the remote control. The 7 Day TV Guide will appear.

2. Navigate through the menu using the arrow buttons.

You can perform the following actions:

• Set a reminder: Press GREEN.

• View a previous day: Press YELLOW.

• View the next day: Press BLUE.

3. Press [EXIT] to exit the 7 day TV Guide.

USB mode offers playback of content from a USB Memory Stick.

1. Switch the TV source to USB MEDIA. A menu will appear with categories: Photo, Music, Movie, and Text.

2. Navigate through the menus using the scroll buttons and press [OK] to confirm.

3. Select the drive you require. If your drive only has one partition, you will only see one item.

4. Navigate to the file you wish to play/view and press [OK].

5. While viewing, you can control the item using the playback buttons on the remote control or by pressing (i) and using the arrow keys and (OK).

Option 1: Connecting in the same room

Connect your Sky Box and TV using either a SCART or HDMI cable.

• If using SCART, select the ‘Input source’ on the TV as SCART.

• If using HDMI, select the ‘Input source’ on the TV as HDMI. Ensure you select the input source that matches the HDMI port number used on the back of the TV.

Option 2: Connecting as a second TV in a different room

This requires connecting the TV to the RF or RF2 output of the Sky box using an RF/COAX cable.

1. On the TECHNIKA LCD32-256, select the ‘Analogue’ input source.

2. Select the channel you wish to store the Sky box on (e.g., channel 6).

3. Press the corresponding number on the remote control.

4. On the TV remote, press Menu, then navigate to Analogue Manual tuning.

5. Manually tune in the channel. The Sky box is usually at a frequency between 800Mhz and 850Mhz. Once found, press ‘OK’ to store it.

Retuning your TV is a quick and simple process. It is recommended to retune every few months to ensure you are receiving the latest TV and radio channels.

1. On the remote control, press [MENU] followed by 8 – 8 – 8 – 8 (press the number 8 button four times).

2. The First Time Installation menu will appear. Press [OK] and the tuning will take place.

Some options are only available in certain sources, such as HDMI or PC/VGA. They are unavailable in the other sources where they have no effect.

1. Check that you are in an area that can receive Freeview.

2. Check that you are using an aerial capable of receiving a good digital signal. In most cases, you will need an outdoor digital high-gain/wideband aerial. It is highly likely you will also need to connect a booster between the back of the TV and the TV aerial wall socket. A portable/indoor type aerial is generally not sufficient for a good enough digital signal.

You need to perform a complete first-time installation. Please refer to the initial set-up section of the manual for instructions on how to do this.

1. Ensure you have inserted the disc facing the correct way forward.

2. Ensure the disc is clean and not scratched.

3. Some copied discs will not play.

4. Check the DVD is a region 2 disc.

1. Ensure the TV’s source is set to the correct HDMI input.

2. Check your settings on your PS3 are as per the PS3 instruction manual.

Component cables only provide HD Pictures. For the sound, you will need to connect the Red & White audio cables on the Xbox to the Red & White phono inputs on the rear of the TV.

Ensure the USB Memory Key is formatted to the FAT32 file system.

There is a master password of 4711. Use this to gain access to the TV menu and reset the normal password.
