When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:

1. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USE.

2. To protect against risk of electrical shock, do not put mixer in water or other liquid.

3. Close supervision is necessary when this appliance is used by or near children or invalids.

4. Unplug from outlet when not in use, before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning.

5. Avoid contacting moving parts.

6. Keep hands, hair, clothing, as well as spatulas and other utensils away from beaters during operation to reduce the risk of injury to persons and/or damage to the mixer.

7. Remove beaters from mixer before washing.

8. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions, or is dropped or damaged in any manner.

9. The use of attachments not recommended or sold by the manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock or injury.

10. Do not use outdoors.

11. Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter or touch hot surfaces, including the stove.

12. Do not place appliance on or near a hot gas or electric burner or in a heated oven.

13. Check that control is OFF before plugging cord into outlet.

14. Do not use appliance for other than intended use.

15. To disconnect, turn control to OFF, then remove plug from wall outlet.

16. Do not leave mixer unattended while it is operating.

17. When mixing liquids, especially hot liquids, use a tall container or make small quantities at a time to reduce spillage, spattering and possibility of injury from burning.

1. Before first use, remove any labels from the mixer and wash the bowls and beaters in warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly.

2. Be sure countertop surface is protected with a heat-resistant pad under the mixer where you plan to use it.

3. Do not store beater/attachment in the mixer sockets.

4. Make sure the beater sockets are clean before inserting attachments.

5. When using dough hooks, always use both dough hooks.

6. Do not operate the mixer continuously for more than 10 minutes. After 10 minutes of use, allow the mixer to cool for several minutes before using again.

7. After 3 minutes of continuous heavy-duty mixing (bread dough), let the mixer cool for 10 minutes before next use.

8. Never put the mixer, cord or plug in water or any other liquid.

9. Do not use abrasive cleaners on any part of the mixer.

10. Before plugging in your mixer, make sure the speed selector dial is in the OFF position.

11. Be certain the mixing head is locked down into position before you begin mixing.

12. To protect your motor, your mixer is designed with a timed shut-off. If your mixer has been operating continuously for 10 minutes, it will automatically shut-off. To reset, turn the Speed Control Dial to OFF. Wait a few seconds, then turn the speed dial to desired setting and resume mixing.

13. Before you leave the appliance, turn it off and unplug it.

A. Mixing Head – Tilts back and locks into position to allow for easy removal of mixing bowls and attachments.

B. Tilt-Release Lever – Located at the base of the Head Support. Releases the Mixing Head to allow it to tilt back.

C. Eject Button – Located at the rear of the Mixer Head. Releases beaters or dough hooks for easy clean up.

D. 12 Variable Speeds – Allow for mixing versatility.

E. On/Off and Speed Control Dial – Turns the mixer on and off and adjusts the speed.

F. Mixer Head – Contains the heavy-duty motor.

G. Beater Shafts/Sockets – This is where the beaters or dough hooks are inserted.

H. Bowl Selector – The turntable has 2 positions so you can select the small bowl position or the large bowl position.

I. Turntable – Rotates to provide complete mixing.

J. Beaters – Designed for maximum mixing performance. The V-groove in the beaters allows ingredients to be mixed from the side of the bowl to the center.

K. Dough Hooks – Ideal for kneading bread doughs, heavy batters and other yeast doughs.

L. Two Glass Bowls – 2 quart and 4 quart bowls fit snugly onto turntable. Bowl rings must be used with bowls during operation.

Before preparing the mixer for use, be sure the speed control dial is in the OFF position and the electrical cord is unplugged from outlet. Be sure to wash bowls and attachments before initial use.

The turntable may be adjusted depending on which bowl is used (large or small). The turntable has two operating positions for small and large bowls. To adjust the turntable, simply lift and slide into the proper position.

To raise the mixing head, locate the Tilt-Release Lever at the base of the Head Support. While the lever is depressed, hold the handle of the head and tilt the head of the Stand Mixer back. The mixing head will lock into position. Lowering the mixing head is a simple matter of lifting the head slightly to disengage the locking mechanism and pressing the mixing head downward. A “click” sound will be heard which will indicate the mixer head has locked into position.

Adjust the turntable to the proper setting: the large bowl for off-center use and the small bowl for center use. Place the mixing bowl on the turntable. A bowl ring is provided for each glass bowl and must be used whenever mixing.

Note: Mixing bowls should not be used in a conventional oven, microwave oven, or on a stovetop. Glass is breakable. Handle with care. Avoid sudden temperature changes. Do not place hot bowl on wet or cold surface.

Make sure the mixer is OFF and unplugged.

Insert attachments into sockets located under the mixer head. The beater with the “Circle with a Dot” on the stem fits the socket with the “Circle with a Dot” on the mixer head. Insert the beater into this socket first. The attachment will turn clockwise. Insert the remaining attachment into the other socket. This attachment will turn counter-clockwise. To engage attachments, slightly turn attachment as you push upward until the attachment clicks into place. You can test to make sure the attachment is engaged by gently pulling on the attachment. The attachment should be locked into position and should not come out of the socket. To remove beaters/dough hooks from the mixer, simply push the ejector button on the rear of the mixer head. Be sure mixer is unplugged when removing attachments.

Turn the speed control dial to ON and OFF and for selecting mixing speeds (1 through 12).

Rotate the speed control dial in a clockwise direction to increase mixing speed, and counter-clockwise to decrease mixing speed.

Your MIXMASTER mixer is equipped with a soft start feature. When you turn on the mixer, it will start on a slow speed and then increase to the speed indicated on the top of the mixer head. This feature is intended to minimize splattering of ingredients from the mixing bowl.

For more control, you may select one of the numbered speeds that appear around the speed control knob.

When starting a mix, begin at a low speed and gradually increase to the desired speed. This prevents splattering.

Please keep in mind that the various mixing tasks and related speeds listed in the following guide may vary slightly from recipe to recipe.

When adding dry ingredients to a liquid/cream mixture, we recommend a low mixing speed. Then, building up to the appropriate speed range for the particular task. For most mixing tasks, it is best to begin on a lower speed until ingredients begin to combine, then move to the appropriate speed range for a particular task.

When folding in a recipe that requires the addition of dry ingredients, such as flour, followed by adding a liquid, you should alternate these additions. Start and finish with the dry ingredients. Set the speed dial between 1 (STIR) and 4 (BLEND), depending on the amount of ingredients. Do not overbeat. Mix until all ingredients are just blended. The guide is a suggestion for mixing. Begin on Speed 1 and increase to desired speed for the particular mixing task.
