To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury to persons, basic safety precautions should always be followed when using electrical appliances, including the following:

1. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USE.

2. To protect against risk of electrical shock, do not put mixer in water or other liquid.

3. This appliance should not be used by children. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used near children. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.

4. Turn the appliance OFF and unplug from outlet when not in use, before putting on or taking off parts and before cleaning. To unplug, grasp the plug and pull from the outlet. Never pull from the power cord. To disconnect, turn any control to OFF, then remove plug from wall outlet.

5. Avoid contacting moving parts.

6. Keep hands, hair, clothing, as well as spatulas and other utensils, away from beaters during operation to reduce the risk of injury to persons and/or damage to the mixer.

7. Remove beaters from mixer before washing.

8. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions, or has been dropped or damaged in any manner.

9. Do not use outdoors or for commercial purposes.

10. Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter or touch hot surfaces, including the stove.

11. Do not use appliance for other than intended use.

12. Do not leave mixer unattended while it is operating.

13. Do not use attachments not recommended or sold by the manufacturer; they may cause fire, electric shock or injury.

14. Beaters, dough hooks or other attachments must be fully inserted to the proper position and must be locked. Failure to do so may result in malfunction of the mixer and/or personal injury.

15. To avoid the possibility of the unit being accidentally pulled off the work area, which could result in damage to the mixer or in personal injury, DO NOT let the cord hang over the edge of a table or counter.

16. To avoid damage to the cord and possible fire or electrocution hazard, DO NOT let the cord contact any hot surfaces, including a stove.

17. If your mixer is provided with a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other), it will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the plug by modifying the plug in any way or by using an adapter.

18. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact an electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.

19. If your mixer is equipped with whisks, do not use the whisks for mixing heavy mixtures (e.g., creaming butter and sugar), as this may damage the whisks.

20. The use of extension cords is not recommended.

21. Never use accessories or parts from other manufacturers or that Sunbeam does not specifically recommend. This may cause fire, shock or injury.

22. THIS PRODUCT IS FOR HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY.

1. Maximum rating is based on the attachment that draws the greatest power. Other recommended attachments may draw significantly less power.

2. Never immerse the mixer head in water or any other liquid. This could result in electric shock, personal injury and/or damage to the product.

3. Your mixer is designed with a slow start feature on each speed. When you start mixing, or change speeds while mixing, the mixer will start slowly to prevent splashing.

4. Never use your mixer for mixing very hard ingredients as this can cause damage to the mixer.

A. Burst of Power Button – This feature provides an extra boost of power when needed for tough mixing tasks at any speed setting.

B. Mixer Head – Ergonomically designed for easy handling.

C. Eject Button – Located for easy access to release beaters or other attachments.

D. Head Locking/Unlocking Handle – Locks the mixer head into the upright, tilted position and releases it to be lowered into mixing position.

E. Mix-Finder™ Dial – Ergonomically designed to turn the mixer ON or OFF, select from 12 variable speed settings and to attach and release the attachments.

G. Two-Position Turntable Lever – Adjusts the bowl position for better mixing.

H. Two Glass Bowls – One large bowl (4.6 quarts/4.4 Liters) and one small bowl (2.2 quarts/2.1 Liters).

I. Heavy Duty Chrome Beaters – The special construction of these beaters allows for better mixing by thoroughly combining ingredients. Dishwasher safe.

J. Chrome Dough Hooks – Ideal for kneading yeast breads and other doughs. Dishwasher safe.

K. Whisks – For whipping air into mixtures like egg whites, yolks or cream. Dishwasher safe.

Before preparing the mixer for use, make sure the speed control dial is in the OFF position and the electrical cord is unplugged. Wash bowls and attachments in hot, soapy water, or in the dishwasher. Rinse and dry.

The turntable may be adjusted depending upon which bowl head is being used. Move the TURNTABLE LEVER to the rear for the large bowl and to the front for the small bowl.

To raise the mixer head, turn the head locking handle up to release the Mixer Head. While the handle is depressed, hold the handle in your hand at the rear of the Mixer Head back and up until the head is tilted back far enough that it will remain in that position without any support. The head must be in the locked back position to attach accessories or to remove the bowl. To lower the mixer head, gently lift up on the Mixer Head, while still in the locked position. Then push the locking handle down. The Mixer Head will unlock and can be returned to its down position.

The selection of which beater to place in which opening is critical for the proper operation of the mixer. See the Mix-Finder™ Dial on the mixer head for the correct attachment socket. The accessory with the circle on the stem is to be inserted in the socket marked with a circle, and the accessory with the triangle on the stem is to be inserted in the socket marked with a triangle. To insert attachments, turn the Mix-Finder™ Dial to the INSERT/EJECT position. Place the attachments one at a time into the proper sockets on the head. To insert each attachment, slightly twist it as you are pushing it up into the socket on the head of the mixer until the attachment clicks into place. You must hear the beater lock into place for the mixer to operate properly. You may need to turn the beater slightly to engage it. The mixer is in position to start mixing once the beaters or other attachments are locked in place.

To ensure proper mixing, set the turntable lever to the proper setting: the large bowl lever at rear and using the large bowl; and the small bowl lever at front and using the small bowl. Place the selected mixing bowl onto the turntable. The mixer is now ready to use.

Note: Mixing bowls should NEVER be used in a conventional oven, microwave oven, on a hot surface, or on a stove top. The bowls are freezer safe. These bowls are not recommended for use in the dishwasher.

After inserting the desired attachments, turn the speed control dial ON and OFF for selecting the desired speed setting from the mixing guide.

Rotate the speed control dial in either direction to increase or decrease mixing speed. Use the BURST OF POWER™ button for an extra surge of mixing power.

The speed settings work in conjunction with the power settings, as shown on the chart and the indicators on the top of the mixer head. The numbered indicators represent the speed setting the mixer is currently operating at.

When mixing is complete, turn the mixer off and unplug from the electrical outlet before you raise the head.

MIXING INFORMATION

Please keep in mind that the various mixing tasks and related speeds found in the following chart may vary from recipe to recipe.

When mixing most recipes, we recommend that you begin mixing on a slow speed, allowing the ingredients to begin combining, then move to the appropriate speed range called for in your particular recipe. When folding in ingredients, such as flour, nuts, or raisins to a batter, turn the dial to the OFF/PULSE position, and pulse the ingredients until combined.

When building a recipe that requires the addition of dry ingredients, such as flour, add them slowly while the mixer is operating at a low speed to avoid the flour “dusting” up. Continue adding dry ingredients until just combined, being careful not to over mix the batter, except at the speed for the particular mixing task.
