Please adhere to the following safety instructions when using your SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC APC SRV2KL-IN:

Transportation:

• Please transport the UPS system only in the original package to protect against shock and impact.

Preparation:

• Do not disassemble the UPS system.

• Do not plug the UPS input into its own output.

• Do not attach a power strip or surge suppressor to the UPS.

• Do not attach non-computer-related items, such as medical equipment, life-support equipment, microwave ovens, or vacuum cleaners to the UPS.

• The UPS is designed for indoor use only. Do not operate the UPS in a location where there is standing water or excessive humidity, or in any of the following environments: Any area with combustible gas, corrosive substance or heavy dust; Any area with excessively high or low temperature (above 40°C or below 0°C) and humidity over 90%; Any area exposed to direct sunlight or near any heating apparatus; Any area with serious vibrations.

• The mains socket outlet that supplies the UPS shall be installed near the UPS and shall be easily accessible.

Installation:

• This UPS is designed for commercial use. It is intended for installation in a temperature-controlled, indoor area free of conductive contaminants.

• Be sure the AC utility outlet is correctly grounded.

• Do not use adapters to connect the UPS to the AC utility outlet.

Operation:

• Do not disconnect the mains cable on the UPS or the building wiring socket (wall socket) during operations since this would cancel the protective grounding of the UPS and of all connected loads.

• Do not block air vents in the vicinity of the UPS.

• The UPS has its own internal energy source (batteries). The output receptacles may be carrying live voltage even when the UPS is not connected to the AC utility outlet.

Maintenance, service and faults:

• The UPS operates with hazardous voltages. Repairs may be carried out only by qualified maintenance personnel.

• Caution – risk of electric shock. Even after the unit is disconnected from the mains, components inside the UPS are still connected to the battery and are electrically live and dangerous. Before carrying out any kind of service and/or maintenance, disconnect the batteries and verify that no current is present.

Battery:

• A battery can present a risk of electrical shock and high short circuit current. The following precautions should be observed when working on batteries: remove watches, rings or other metal objects; use tools with insulated handles; wear rubber gloves and boots.

• Do not dispose of batteries in a fire. The batteries may explode.

• Do not open or mutilate batteries. Released electrolyte is harmful to the skin and eyes. It may be toxic.

The front display panel of the SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC APC SRV2KL-IN includes the following components:

1. LCD Display: Shows the UPS status, input/output voltage and frequency, load and battery information.

2. Function button (SCROLL): Press this button to view the input/output voltage and frequency, load and battery information.

3. ON/Mute button: Press this button to turn on the UPS. Press and hold this button for more than 2 seconds to turn off the UPS. Press this button to enable or disable the beeper.

4. OFF button: Press this button to turn off the UPS.

5. LED Indicators: These indicators display the UPS working status.

The rear panel of the SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC APC SRV2KL-IN features the following components:

1. AC Input: Connects to utility power.

2. Input circuit breaker: Provides overload protection.

3. USB Port: Provides PC communication for UPS status monitoring.

4. RS-232 Port: Provides PC communication for UPS status monitoring.

5. Intelligent Slot: For optional SNMP card.

6. Cooling Fan: Prevents the UPS from overheating.

7. Output Receptacles: Connects to loads.

You should have received the following items inside the package:

• UPS Unit x 1

• User Manual x 1

• USB Cable x 1

• Power Cord x 1

• Stabilizing Stands x 2

• Rack Mount Ears x 2

Follow these steps for a tower installation:

Step 1: Install the stabilizing stands.

The UPS can be placed vertically on a desktop. Install the two stands on the bottom of the UPS.

Step 2: Rotate the LCD panel.

Pry the front panel out from the bottom. Rotate the LCD display panel 90 degrees clockwise. Replace the front panel.

Follow these steps to install the unit in a 19-inch rack cabinet:

Step 1: Attach the rack-mount ears.

Attach the two rack-mount ears to the sides of the UPS using the provided screws.

Step 2: Install in a 19-inch rack.

Mount the UPS in a standard 19-inch rack using four screws (not included).

Follow these steps to connect your equipment:

Step 1: Plug the loads into the UPS.

Plug the loads into the output receptacles on the rear panel of the UPS. Note: Make sure the total equipment rating of your connected loads does not exceed the capacity of the UPS to prevent an overload alarm.

Step 2: Connect the UPS to the utility.

Plug the AC input cord to the wall outlet.

Step 3: Connect communication port (optional).

Connect the communication cable to the USB or RS-232 communication port on the rear panel of the UPS. Plug the other end to the equipment which is to be monitored.

Step 4: Turn on the UPS.

Press the ON button on the front panel to turn on the UPS. The UPS will perform a self-test and the connected loads will be powered by the UPS.

Important Note: Before using the UPS, be sure to charge the battery for at least 4-6 hours.

Starting the UPS with utility power:

1. Confirm that all connections are correct and secure.

2. Press the ON/Mute button for more than 2 seconds to turn on the UPS. The fans will start and the UPS will perform a self-test. The LCD will display the UPS status. The connected loads will be powered by utility power through the UPS.

Cold Start (Starting the UPS on battery power):

1. Confirm that the battery is connected.

2. Press the ON/Mute button for more than 2 seconds to turn on the UPS. The UPS will turn on and the connected loads will be powered by the battery. Note: In Cold Start mode, the output voltage is set to 230V by default. This cannot be changed.

Turn Off Operation:

To turn off the UPS, press the OFF button for more than 2 seconds. The UPS will turn off.

The LCD display shows various indicators to inform you of the UPS status. Here is a guide to what each indicator means:

You can configure the UPS settings by following these steps:

Step 1: Press and hold the SCROLL button for 2 seconds to enter the setting mode. The first setting item will flash.

Step 2: Press the SCROLL button to select the setting items.

Step 3: Press the ON/Mute button to select the options for each item. The selected option will blink.

Step 4: Press the OFF button to confirm the selection. To exit, select “00” and press the OFF button, or wait for the system to automatically exit after 10 seconds of inactivity.

The SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC APC SRV2KL-IN has several operating modes:

• Online Mode: When the input voltage is within the acceptable range, the UPS will provide pure and stable AC power to the connected loads.

• ECO Mode: When the input voltage is within the voltage regulation range, the UPS will bypass power to the connected loads for energy saving. The inverter is shut down in this mode.

• Frequency Converter Mode: When the input frequency is 50 Hz and output is set to 60 Hz, or input is 60 Hz and output is 50 Hz, the UPS is working in frequency converter mode. In this mode, the bypass function is disabled.

• Battery Mode: When the input voltage is out of range or on power failure, the UPS will switch to battery mode and provide stable power from the battery to the connected loads.

• Bypass Mode: When the UPS is overloaded or has an internal fault, it will switch to bypass mode. The connected loads are powered directly by the utility. An alarm will sound.

• Standby Mode: The UPS is off and no output is supplied, but it can still charge the batteries.

If the UPS experiences a problem, use the following table to find a solution. The LCD will display a warning code and an icon.
