The SCHEPPACH DS920X is designed for the large-scale sanding of drywalls to prepare surfaces for painting or wallpapering using suitable sanding sheets. This power tool is specifically intended for private household use and is not suitable for the preparation of small areas, corners, or edges. Additionally, it should not be used for the removal of wallpaper, wet grinding, or with attachments like wire brushes and polishing tools. It must not be used to treat materials containing asbestos.

Step 1: Fold the front sections of the SCHEPPACH DS920X together and tighten the locking screw to secure the main frame.

Step 2: If an extended reach is needed, insert the suction pipe extension into the connection for the suction tube extension and lock it into place. You can adjust the SCHEPPACH DS920X with the suction pipe extension to a position that allows you to work comfortably. Note that the machine can also be used without this extension.

Sandpaper Selection:

The grain of the sandpaper is indicated on the back; the smaller the number, the coarser the grain. Use coarse grain for rough sanding and fine grain for finishing. It is recommended to start with a coarse grain and finish with the finest grain available to achieve a smooth result.

Attachment and Replacement:

Step 1: Secure the sandpaper to the grinding plate of the SCHEPPACH DS920X using the Velcro backing.

Step 2: Align the sandpaper with the grinding plate and press it on evenly.

Step 3: To replace, pull the sandpaper off the grinding plate and attach a new sheet.

Because the SCHEPPACH DS920X generates a large amount of dust, a dust extraction device must be used. To set this up:

Step 1: Connect a vacuum cleaner or chip extraction system to the suction hose.

Step 2: Insert the hose adapter into the dust extraction connection on the SCHEPPACH DS920X and lock it.

Step 3: Ensure the vacuum cleaner is suitable for use with electric tools and always use a dust separator during operation.

Step 1: Attach a suitable sanding sheet and select the appropriate speed for your application.

Step 2: Hold the SCHEPPACH DS920X securely by the designated gripping surfaces and switch it on.

Step 3: Wait until the tool reaches its full working speed.

Step 4: Guide the grinding plate as parallel as possible to the wall, placing the brush edge against the surface first. This prevents the grinding wheel from creating crescent-shaped indentations.

Step 5: Apply slight pressure to the grinding head to bring the sandpaper into contact with the surface.

Step 6: Move the SCHEPPACH DS920X over the surface with even movements. Do not hold the tool in one place for too long to avoid uneven results.

Step 7: Lift the grinding plate from the surface before switching off the tool. Wait for the tool to come to a complete standstill before putting it down.

The speed of the SCHEPPACH DS920X can be adjusted before starting work to suit the specific task. Use a low speed for coarse grinding work and increase the speed for fine finishing work. The speed is adjusted by pressing the plus (+) button to increase it or the minus (-) button to reduce it.

When performing sanding work on a ceiling area, you should fix the grinding head of the SCHEPPACH DS920X in place using the split pin included in the scope of delivery. This provides more stability for overhead operations.

Cleaning:

Keep protective devices, ventilation openings, and the motor housing of the SCHEPPACH DS920X free of dust and dirt. Wipe the tool with a clean cloth or blow it off with low-pressure compressed air (maximum 3 bar) after each use. Do not use cleaning products or solvents as they may attack the plastic parts.

Maintenance:

Check the tool and accessories for wear and damage before and after each use. If the grinding plate or brush edge are damaged or badly worn, they must be replaced by a qualified specialist. The carbon brushes are also considered wearing parts and should be checked periodically.

When not in use, store the SCHEPPACH DS920X in a dry, well-ventilated location out of the reach of children. If possible, keep the tool, operating manual, and accessories together in the original packaging. Always carry the SCHEPPACH DS920X by its gripping surfaces. For transport, use the original packaging to prevent damage and protect the tool against vibrations and shocks.
