To install the propeller on your SAXA 940900-090 trolling motor, follow these steps:

1. Install the drive pin and align the cross-shaped slots on the propeller with the corresponding parts on the motor. The two cross grooves allow the propeller to be reinstalled if one groove becomes worn or damaged.

2. Install the sacrificial anode, stainless steel washer, and self-locking nut onto the drive shaft in that order.

3. Hold the propeller to prevent it from rotating and use the provided propeller wrench to tighten the nut until it is firmly in place. Do not overtighten.

Warning: Tighten the nut no more than 1/4 turn after it is “snug.” Overtightening may damage the propeller. Only use the provided propeller wrench.

Fin Installation:

Align the fin with the bottom of the motor, ensuring the direction is correct. Use the provided nuts and bolts to tighten the fin into place. Make sure the motor is disconnected from the battery before installing any parts.

Motor Installation:

Warning: Ensure the battery is disconnected when installing the motor.

1. The SAXA 940900-090 motor can be bolted directly to the boat or attached using a quick-release plate (by attaching the plate to the boat first).

2. It is recommended to install the motor so it is aligned longitudinally with the boat or at a slight angle.

3. The motor should be installed as horizontally as possible for optimal performance. Positioning the motor closer to the boat’s keel line in the driving position allows it to move the boat more efficiently and hold its position better with the sky anchor.

Follow these steps for proper battery connection to your SAXA 940900-090:

• Use only a 12V deep-cycle battery (both lead-acid and lithium-based are suitable). Incorrect voltage or wiring can damage the motor’s electronics.

Warning: Always disconnect the motor from the battery when charging the battery. Charging without disconnecting may damage the motor’s electronics.

Lowering the Motor:

• Press the lift/lower pedal and gently lower the motor. Make sure the bottom of the depth adjustment ring aligns with the steering collar.

Raising the Motor:

• Press the foot pedal, grab the motor shaft, head, or body, and lift while pulling back horizontally until the motor clicks securely into the bracket.

Warning: Keep your fingers away from all hinges and joints during lifting and lowering. Do not let the motor drop freely; lower it in a controlled manner to avoid damage.

Motor Depth Adjustment:

• Hold the motor shaft, loosen the depth adjustment ring nut, and adjust the motor to the desired depth. Once the depth is correct, tighten the nut.

Warning: When transporting the boat on a trailer or driving through waves with the outboard engine, always lock the depth adjustment ring at the gearbox level (lower end of the shaft) and support the shaft near the top.

The remote control for the SAXA 940900-090 has the following functions:

• Power Off: Turns the remote control off.

• Power On: Turns the remote control on.

• Steer Left/Right: Turns the motor heading left or right.

• Speed Down: Click press to decrease speed. Long press for pairing.

To charge the remote control:

1. Remove the waterproof protective cap from the charging port on the remote.

2. Connect the provided USB charging cable.

3. The USB end of the cable has a charging status light:

• Red light = charging

• Green light = fully charged

Attention: When charging for the first time, the light may quickly turn green. Leave the device charging overnight or for several hours to ensure a full charge. Only use the provided charging cable. The remote can be used for an average of 48 hours continuously and can be used while charging if your boat has a USB port.

The SAXA 940900-090 motor features a battery status indicator with 3 LED lights that shows the charge level of the connected battery. The lights correspond to the approximate charge level:

• 3 lights: ~100%

• 2 lights: ~50%

• 1 light: ~20%

As the battery voltage drops, the indicated charge level will decrease. It is recommended to recharge the battery when the charge level drops to 20% (1 light), especially for lead-acid batteries. If a lithium battery reaches its maximum allowed depth of discharge (DoD), its Battery Management System (BMS) will automatically cut off power.

If your SAXA 940900-090 motor fails to start or seems underpowered, perform the following checks:

• Ensure that the power cable is properly connected.

• Check that the battery terminals are clean and free from corrosion.
