• Only use the power cable provided with your product by Samsung. Do not use the power cable with other products.

• Keep the power socket where the power cord is connected unobstructed.

Follow these guidelines for a safe installation:

• Before moving the product, turn off the power switch and disconnect the power cable and all other connected cables.

• When installing the product, keep it at a distance from the wall so that it is well ventilated. An increased internal temperature may cause a fire.

• Do not install the product in a poorly ventilated space such as a bookcase or closet.

• Keep the plastic packaging out of the reach of children.

• Do not install the power cable or the product near heat sources (candles, cigarettes, heating devices, etc.).

• When installing the product, fix it firmly so that it does not fall.

• Do not install the product in a kitchen or near a kitchen counter as edible oil or oil vapor can damage or deform the product.

• Have a technician install the wall-mount hanger. Installation by an unqualified person can result in an injury.

• Do not drop the product while moving.

• Do not lay down the product on its front, as the screen may become damaged.

• Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight may discolour the surface of the screen display.

• If the product generates a strange noise, a burning smell, or smoke, unplug the power plug immediately and contact your Samsung Customer Service Centre.

• Keep remote control batteries and small accessories out of the reach of children.

• If the product is dropped or its appearance is damaged, turn off the power switch and disconnect the power cord.

• Do not move the product by pulling the power cord or any cable.

• Ensure the vents are not blocked by tablecloths or curtains.

• Do not apply an impact to the product, as the screen display may be damaged.

• Do not insert metallic objects or flammable objects into the product’s vents or ports.

• Do not place objects containing liquid or metallic objects on top of the product.

• During a lightning or thunderstorm, power off the product and disconnect the power cord.

• Do not leave heavy objects or items that children like (toys, sweets, etc.) on top of the product.

• Do not hang on or climb on the product.

• There is a high voltage inside the product. Never disassemble, repair or modify the product yourself.

• If a gas leakage is found, do not touch the product or the power plug, and ventilate the room immediately.

• When you do not use the product for a long time, disconnect the power cord from the power socket.

• Rest your eyes for more than 5 minutes for every 1 hour of product use.

• Leaving the screen fixed on a stationary image for an extended period of time may cause afterimage burn-in or defective pixels. Activate power-saving mode or a screen saver when not in use for a long time.

• Do not use or keep combustible spray or an inflammable substance near the product.

• Do not touch the screen when the product has been turned on for an extended period of time as it will become hot.

For cleaning your SAMSUNG KIOSK KM24C-5, please follow these instructions:

1. Be sure to disconnect the power plug before cleaning.

2. Do not spray water or cleaner directly on the product. The product’s surface may be damaged, or the markings may be erased.

3. Wipe the surface with a slightly wet, soft cloth, and then wipe with a dry cloth.

4. Wipe gently with a soft and dry cloth such as superfine fibers or cotton flannels to prevent scratches. The product’s surface and screen display are vulnerable to scratches.

5. Do not scratch the screen with nails or sharp objects.

6. If you need to clean the glass part of the touchscreen, apply IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol, 70% or less) on a smooth dry cloth (such as superfine fibers or cotton flannels), and gently wipe with it. IPA is a colourless and flammable drug that can cause eye damage and is harmful to the human body; please handle with care.

7. Do not apply chemicals containing alcohol, solvent, or surfactant such as wax, benzene, thinner, pesticide, air freshener, lubricant, or cleaner to the product, as this may cause damage.

Storage Capacity Representation:

The capacity of the storage device (HDD, SSD) is calculated by the manufacturer assuming that 1 KB = 1,000 Bytes. However, the Windows operating system calculates storage device capacity assuming that 1 KB = 1,024 Bytes. This difference in calculation results in the available capacity in Windows being smaller than the actual capacity. For example, an 80 GB HDD will be reported by Windows as approximately 74.5 GB. Additionally, programs like Samsung Recovery may reside in a hidden area, further reducing the displayed capacity.

Memory Capacity Representation:

The available memory capacity in Windows is less than the actual physical memory installed. This is because some memory is required for regular system operations. For example, for 1 GB (1,024 MB) of installed memory, Windows may report the capacity as 1,022 MB or less.

If you change the product’s factory OS (Operating System) to another OS or if you install software which is not supported by the product’s original factory OS, you will not receive any technical support, product exchange or refund, and a fee will be charged when requesting a service.

Please use your product with the original factory OS. If you install an OS other than the factory OS, data may be deleted or the product may not start.

To access the display ports, you must disassemble the display from the Connection Box.

Proper ventilation is crucial for the SAMSUNG KIOSK KM24C-5. Do not block the ventilation openings at the top of the back of the display, as this may cause overheating and product malfunction.

Installation on a Perpendicular Wall:

• Allow at least 15 mm of space between the product and wall surface for ventilation.

• Ensure the ambient temperature is kept below 35 °C.

Installation on an Indented Wall:

• Allow minimum space between the product and walls as indicated: At least 15 mm from the back wall, and at least 25mm from the top and side walls.

• Ensure the ambient temperature is kept below 35 °C.

When installing a wall mount, follow these guidelines and specifications:

• The wall mount kit is sold separately.

• Install your wall mount on a solid wall perpendicular to the floor.

• It is recommended to contact a technician for assistance when installing the wall mount bracket.

• Do not use screws that are longer than the standard length or do not comply with VESA standard screw specifications.

• Do not fasten screws too firmly, as this may damage the product or cause it to fall.

• Do not mount the product at more than a 15-degree tilt.

• Always have at least two people mount the product on a wall.

• Do not install the Wall Mount Kit while the product is turned on.

Precautions:

• Do not subject the touchscreen to severe impacts or press it with sharp objects.

• Do not allow the touchscreen to come into contact with other electrical devices, as electrostatic discharges can cause it to malfunction.

• Do not expose the touchscreen to water.

• Do not spray liquid cleansing solutions directly onto the touchscreen.

• Do not damage the edges of the touchscreen.

• Leaving the touchscreen idle for extended periods may result in afterimages (screen burn-in). Turn off the touchscreen when not in use.

• Make sure your hands are clean and dry before using the touchscreen.

Tips:

• Very light touches on the touchscreen may not be recognized.

• Precisely tap items on the touchscreen for the best results.

• When used under some 3-wavelength lamps, the touchscreen could malfunction.

• The touchscreen sensors are located on the edges. Do not cover the edges with protective covers or accessories.

You can use the following gestures on the touchscreen:

• Tap: To select menus, options, or applications, tap the touch screen. This is similar to clicking a mouse.

• Double-tap: To open files or items, double-tap the touch screen. This is similar to double-clicking a mouse.

• Touch and hold (right-click): To use additional options of an item, touch and hold it on the touch screen.

• Drag: To move an item to another location, touch and hold it, and then drag it on the touch screen to the desired location. This is similar to dragging a mouse.

• Scrolling: To scroll up, down, left, or right, swipe on the touch screen.

You can use the on-screen keyboard to enter text.

1. To open the on-screen keyboard, select the keyboard icon on the taskbar.

2. The on-screen keyboard is only available in tablet mode. To change to tablet mode, select the notification icon in the taskbar and then select “Tablet mode”.

Changing the keyboard layout:

To change the keyboard layout, select the keyboard settings icon on the on-screen keyboard and select one of the following:

• Simplified QWERTY keyboard

• Mini keyboard (only available in the floating state)

• Split QWERTY keyboard for entering text with two hands

• Standard QWERTY keyboard

• Fixed keyboard

• Floating keyboard

Entering Uppercase:

Select the up-arrow key before entering a character. For all caps, tap it twice.

Copying and Pasting:

1. Drag your finger across text to select it.

2. Touch and hold the text to display the options.

3. Select Copy or Cut.

4. Touch and hold a text input field and then select Paste.

You need to connect a keyboard and a mouse to enter the BIOS screen. Incorrect settings may cause the system to malfunction or crash.

1. Turn on the product.

2. Before the Samsung logo appears, press the F2 key several times.

• If the product is password-protected, press the F2 key several times before the password screen appears.

• If the password screen or the Windows start screen appears, restart the product and try again.

You can change the boot priority from the BIOS setup.

1. Turn on the product.

2. Before the Samsung logo appears, press the F2 key several times to enter the BIOS.

3. Access the Boot menu.

4. Select Boot Device Priority.

5. Select an option menu to open the list.

6. Select an option.

7. Select Save -> OK to save and restart.

8. Select Exit -> OK to restart without saving the changes.

You can update software using an update file on a USB device. The USB device should be connected to the USB port labelled SERVICE.

1. Save the update file (in .bin format) that you downloaded from the Samsung website to a USB device.

2. Connect the USB device to the (SERVICE) port.

3. Select Menu -> Support -> Software Update.

4. Follow the instructions on the screen to proceed with the update.

5. Your product will turn itself off and on again automatically after completing the update and then turn off. Remove the power cord from the power outlet and then reconnect the cord after turning it off.

Important Notes:

• To perform software updates, first format the USB device to FAT32.

• When updating, be sure to use a device whose version of USB is 3.0 or lower.

• Make sure that only one BIN file (.bin) is saved in the root directory of the USB device.

• Do not turn off the product until the update is complete.

The screen does not display anything.

• Make sure that the power cord is connected.

• Press the Main power button and check if the product has turned on.

“No Signal” message appears.

• Check that products (including source device) are connected correctly with a cable.

• Check that the source device connected to the product is powered on.

The screen is too bright or too dark.

• Go to Picture and adjust the Brightness and Contrast settings.

The screen display does not look normal.

• A cell phone within a distance of a one-meter radius may cause static on analog and digital products.

The brightness and colour do not look normal.

• Go to Picture and adjust the screen settings such as Colour, Brightness and Sharpness.

• Reset the screen settings to the default settings (Go to Menu -> Support -> Reset All).

The screen cannot be displayed in full screen.

• A scaled SD (4:3) content file can cause black bars on both sides of an HD channel screen.

• A video with an aspect ratio different from the product can cause black bars at the top and bottom of the screen.

The screen is landscape oriented.

• In Windows display settings, change the display orientation to “Portrait”. You can access the display settings by touching and holding the desktop, then tapping Display Settings, or by selecting the Windows START button -> Settings -> System -> Display.

There is no sound.

• Check the volume.

The volume is too low.

• Adjust the volume.

• If the volume is still low after turning it up to the maximum level, adjust the volume on the Windows or software program.

If touches break, reaction speed gets slow, or you experience other touch issues:

• Make sure that there are no foreign substances on the screen surface.

• Check whether the screen is broken.

• Place the product at least 3 m away from any devices that use high voltage.

If the printer is not working, please check the following:

• Make sure there is enough receipt paper in the printer.

• Make sure the receipt paper is properly inserted into the printer.

• Make sure the cover of the receipt paper is closed.

• Check the power and signal cable connection status, and restart the product.

• Press the Self Test button to check if the printer works. If it works, the issue is not with the printer itself.

If the printer is not working and the COM port operation is abnormal:

• Check the Baud-rate settings and the port numbers of the device and your product.

• Check the USB Driver on the Device Manager menu.

1. Select the Windows START button -> Settings -> Apps -> Apps & features.

2. On the list, select an app to delete, and then select Uninstall.

If the Samsung Recovery application is not supported, you can reinstall Windows using its built-in recovery function. Be aware that reinstalling Windows will erase all data saved on the product. Back up your applications and personal data to an external storage device before proceeding.

1. Select the Windows START button -> Settings -> Update & Security -> Recovery.

2. Select Reset this PC -> Get started.

3. Select Keep my files or Remove everything.

After the system is recovered, select the Windows START button -> Samsung Update to install the required Samsung applications.

What is afterimage burn-in?

Afterimage burn-in should not occur during normal operation, which involves continuously changing video patterns. However, if the panel displays a fixed pattern for an extended period, a slight voltage difference may occur between the electrodes in the pixels. This can cause a previous image to remain on the screen when the pattern changes.

Recommended prevention practices:

Viewing a fixed screen for an extended period of time may cause afterimage burn-ins or smudges. If the product is not to be used for a long time, turn it off, or activate the Power Saving mode or Screen Saver with a moving image.

• Change the colours regularly.

• Avoid combinations of a text colour and background colour of contrasting brightness.

• Avoid using colours of contrasting brightness (black and white; gray and black).
