The recommended hours of use per day for the SAMSUNG KIOSK KM24C-3 is under 16 hours. If the product is used for longer than 16 hours a day, the warranty may be void.

Please adhere to the following safety precautions:

• Do not touch the power plug with wet hands. Otherwise, an electric shock may result.

• Do not bend or pull the power cable with force. Be careful not to leave the power cable under a heavy object.

• Do not connect multiple products to a single power socket, as overheated power sockets may cause a fire.

• Insert the power plug all the way in so it is not loose. An unsecure connection may cause a fire.

• Clean any dust around the pins of the power plug or the power socket with a dry cloth.

• Connect the power plug to a grounded power socket (except for devices that do not provide grounding).

• Do not use a damaged power plug or a loose power socket.

• When connecting the power plug to the port, be sure to connect it completely. If not completely connected, it may become unexpectedly disconnected, or there is a risk of overheating due to overcurrent.

• Only use the power cable provided with your product by Samsung. Do not use the power cable with other products.

• Keep the power socket where the power cord is connected unobstructed.

• Do not disconnect the power cable while the product is being used.

• Before moving the product, turn off the power switch and disconnect the power cable and all other connected cables.

• When installing, keep it at a distance from the wall so that it is well ventilated. An increased internal temperature may cause a fire.

• Do not install the product in a poorly ventilated space such as a bookcase or closet.

• Keep the plastic packaging out of the reach of children.

• Do not install the power cable (DC power supply) and the product near heat sources (candles, cigarettes, heating devices, direct sunlight, etc.).

• When installing, fix it firmly so that it does not fall.

• Do not install the product in a kitchen or near a kitchen counter. Edible oil or oil vapor can damage or deform the product.

• Do not drop the product while moving.

• Do not lay down the product on its front, as the screen may become damaged.

• Have a technician install the wall-mount hanger. Installation by an unqualified person can result in an injury.

• If the product generates a strange noise, a burning smell, or smoke, unplug the power plug immediately and contact your Samsung Customer Service Centre.

• Keep remote control batteries and small accessories out of the reach of children.

• If the product is dropped or its appearance is damaged, turn off the power switch and disconnect the power cord.

• Do not move the product by pulling the power cord or any cable.

• Ensure the vents are not blocked by tablecloths or curtains.

• Do not apply an impact to the product.

• Do not insert metallic objects (chopsticks, coins, etc.) or flammable objects (paper, matches, etc.) into the product.

• Do not place objects containing liquid or metallic objects on top of the product.

• During a lightning or thunderstorm, power off the product and disconnect the power cord.

• Do not leave heavy objects or items that children like (toys, sweets, etc.) on top of the product.

• Do not hang on or climb on the product.

• Do not disassemble, repair, or modify the product yourself.

• If a gas leakage is found, do not touch the product or the power plug, and ventilate the room immediately.

• When you do not use the product for a long time, disconnect the power cord from the power socket.

• Rest your eyes for more than 5 minutes for every 1 hour of product use.

• Leaving the screen fixed on a stationary image for an extended period may cause afterimage burn-in. Activate power-saving mode or set a screen saver when not in use for a long time.

• Do not touch the screen when the product has been on for an extended period of time as it will become hot.

1. Before cleaning, be sure to disconnect the power plug.

2. Do not spray water or cleaner directly on the product.

3. Wipe the surface with a slightly wet, soft cloth (such as superfine fibers or cotton flannels), and then wipe with a dry cloth.

4. To clean the glass part of the touchscreen, apply IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol, 70% or less) on a smooth dry cloth and gently wipe with it. IPA can cause eye damage and is harmful to the human body, so please handle it with care. Do not use IPA on non-glass parts.

5. Do not scratch the screen with nails or sharp objects.

6. Do not apply chemicals containing alcohol, solvent, or surfactant such as wax, benzene, thinner, pesticide, air freshener, lubricant, or cleaner to the product.

The display buttons are accessible when the display is disassembled from the Connection Box or by removing the back cover.

To access the display ports, you must disassemble the display from the Connection Box.

Ventilation:

Do not block the ventilation openings at the top of the back of the display. Blocking the ventilation openings may cause overheating and lead to product malfunction.

Installation on a Perpendicular Wall:

• A: Minimum 15 mm of space between the product and wall surface for ventilation.

• B: Ambient temperature must be 35 °C or less.

Installation on an Indented Wall:

• A: Minimum 15 mm

• B: Minimum 25 mm

• C: Minimum 25 mm

• D: Minimum 0 mm

• E: Ambient temperature must be 35 °C or less.

Wall Mount Installation Precautions:

• Do not use screws that are longer than the standard length or do not comply with the VESA standard screw specifications.

• Do not fasten the screws too firmly.

• Do not mount the product at more than a 15-degree tilt.

• Always have at least two people mount the product on a wall.

• Do not install your Wall Mount Kit while your product is turned on.

Precautions when using the touchscreen:

• Do not subject the touchscreen to severe impacts or press it with sharp objects.

• Do not allow the touchscreen to come into contact with other electrical devices.

• Do not expose the touchscreen to water.

• Do not spray liquid cleansing solutions directly onto the touchscreen.

• Do not damage the edges of the touchscreen.

• Leaving the touchscreen idle for extended periods may result in afterimages (screen burn-in) or ghosting.

• Make sure your hands are clean and dry before using the touchscreen.

Tips on using the touchscreen:

• Very light touches on the touchscreen may not be recognized.

• Precisely tap items on the touchscreen for the best results.

• The touchscreen sensors are located on the edges of the touchscreen. Do not cover the edges with protective covers or accessories.

• Tap: To select menus, options, or applications, tap the touch screen. It is similar to clicking on a mouse.

• Double-tap: To open files or items, double-tap the touch screen. It is similar to double-clicking on a mouse.

• Touch and hold (right-click): To use additional options of an item, touch and hold it on the touch screen.

• Drag: To move an item to another location, touch and hold it, and then drag it on the touch screen to the desired location. It is similar to dragging a mouse.

• Scrolling: To scroll up, down, left, or right, swipe on the touch screen.

1. To open the on-screen keyboard, select the keyboard icon on the taskbar. The on-screen keyboard is only available in tablet mode.

2. To change the keyboard layout, select the layout icon and select one of the following:

• Simplified QWERTY keyboard

• Mini keyboard (only available in the floating state)

• Split QWERTY keyboard

• Standard QWERTY keyboard

• Fixed keyboard

• Floating keyboard

Entering Uppercase:

Select the Up Arrow key before entering a character. For all caps, tap it twice.

Copying and Pasting:

1. Drag your finger across text to select it.

2. Touch and hold the text to display the options.

3. Select Copy or Cut.

4. Touch and hold a text input field and then select Paste.

About Windows Activation:

When you turn the product on for the first time, the Windows activation screen appears. Follow the on-screen instructions. The product’s date and time may be incorrect. To set it, go to the desktop taskbar, touch and hold the date/clock area, then select ‘Adjust date/time’.

Configuring Windows Settings:

Select the Windows START button → Settings icon. You can also configure settings from the Control Panel by selecting the Windows START button → Windows System → Control Panel.

Checking Notifications (Action Center):

1. Select the Action Center icon on the taskbar.

2. When the panel appears, select a message to check it.

Unlocking the screen:

To unlock the lock screen, tap the screen and swipe upwards from the bottom. If the account has a password, enter it to log in.

Controlling volume using the taskbar:

1. Select the speaker icon on the taskbar.

2. Drag the adjustment bar to the desired volume.

Entering the BIOS:

You need to connect a keyboard and a mouse to enter the BIOS screen.

1. Turn on the product.

2. Before the Samsung logo appears, press the F2 key several times.

3. If the password screen or the Windows start screen appears, restart the product and try again.

Changing Boot Priority in BIOS:

1. Turn on the product and press F2 several times to enter BIOS.

2. Access the Boot menu.

3. Select Boot Device Priority.

4. Select an option menu to open the list.

5. Select an option.

6. Select Save → OK to save and restart.

7. Select Exit → OK to restart without saving the changes.

Self Diagnosis:

Perform this test when you experience a problem with your monitor’s picture. Do not turn off the product while the diagnosis is in progress.

Software Update:

1. Save the update file (in .bin format) to a USB device formatted to FAT32. Ensure only one .bin file is in the root directory.

2. Connect the USB device to the (SERVICE) port.

3. Select Menu → Support → Software Update.

4. Follow the on-screen instructions. The product will turn off and on automatically after completing the update.

5. Remove the power cord from the power outlet and then reconnect the cord after turning it off.

Reset All:

Return all the settings for the product to the default factory settings.

The screen does not display anything.

• Make sure that the power cord is connected.

• Press the Main power button and check if the product has turned on.

“No Signal” message appears and then disappears.

• Check that products (including source device) are connected correctly with a cable.

• Check that the source device connected to the product is powered on.

The screen is too bright or too dark.

• Go to Picture and adjust the Brightness and Contrast settings.

The screen display does not look normal.

• A cell phone within a one-meter radius may cause static on analog and digital products.

The brightness and colour do not look normal.

• Go to Picture and adjust the screen settings such as Colour, Brightness and Sharpness.

• Reset the screen settings to the default settings.

I see red, green, and blue.

• This issue may happen when the panel of the product is defective. Contact a Samsung Service Centre to resolve the issue.

The screen cannot be displayed in full screen.

• A scaled SD (4:3) content file can cause black bars on both sides of an HD channel screen.

• A video with an aspect ratio different from the product can cause black bars at the top and bottom of the screen.

The screen is landscape oriented.

• In Windows display settings, change the display orientation to “Portrait”. You can access this by touching and holding the desktop, then tapping Display Settings, or by selecting the Windows START button → Settings → System → Display.

Sound Issues (For models with built-in speakers)

• There is no sound: Check the volume.

• The volume is too low: Adjust the volume. If it is still low after turning it up to the maximum, adjust the volume on the Windows or software program.

Touch Function Issues

• Touches break, reaction speed gets slow, etc.: Make sure that there are no foreign substances on the screen surface. Check whether the screen is broken. Place the product at least 3 m away from any devices that use high voltage.

Other Issues

• The product smells like plastic: The plastic smell is normal and disappears over time.

• The monitor appears tilted: Remove and then attach the stand again to the product.

• Small particles are found on the edges of the product: The particles are part of the product design. The product is not defective.

Printer is not working.

• Make sure there is enough receipt paper in the printer.

• Make sure the receipt paper is properly inserted into the printer.

• Make sure the cover of the receipt paper is closed.

• Check the power and signal cable connection status, and restart the product.

• Press the Self Test button to check if the printer works. It is not the problem of the printer if it works.

QR code/bar code sensor is not working well.

• Check the power and signal cable connection status, and restart the product.

• If the recognition results are poor, clean the sensor with a smooth, damp cloth, and then wipe out the moisture and try again.

The printer is not working or COM port operation is abnormal.

• Check the Baud-rate settings and the port numbers of the device and your product.

• Check the USB Driver on the Device Manager menu. Check if USB-Serial Adapter exists under the Device Manager – Universal Serial Bus controllers menu. If it exists, right-click the device and select Update Driver to update it.

If the Samsung Recovery application is not supported, you can reinstall Windows using the built-in recovery function. Reinstalling Windows will erase all data saved on the product, so back up your applications and personal data to an external storage device first.

1. Select the Windows START button → Settings → Update & Security → Recovery.

2. Select Reset this PC → Get started.

3. Select Keep my files or Remove everything.

After the system is recovered, select the Windows START button → Samsung Update to install the required Samsung applications.

What is afterimage burn-in?

Afterimage burn-in should not occur when the panel is operating normally with a continuously changing video pattern. However, if the panel displays a fixed pattern for an extended period of time, a slight voltage difference may occur between the electrodes in pixels that control the liquid crystals. This can cause a previous image to remain on the screen when the pattern changes. Viewing a fixed screen for an extended period may cause afterimage burn-in, which is not included in the warranty.

Recommended prevention practices:

If the SAMSUNG KIOSK KM24C-3 is not to be used for a long time, turn it off, or activate the Power Saving mode or Screen Saver with a moving image.

• Change the colours regularly.

• Avoid combinations of a text colour and background colour of contrasting brightness.

• Avoid using colours of contrasting brightness (e.g., black and white; gray and black).
