The recommended hours of use per day for the SAMSUNG KIOSK KM24C-C is under 16 hours. If the product is used for longer than 16 hours a day, the warranty may be void.

An administration fee may be charged in the following situations:

(a) An engineer is called out at your request, but it is found that the product has no defect (i.e., where the user manual has not been read).

(b) You bring the unit to a repair centre, but it is found that the product has no defect (i.e., where the user manual has not been read).

You will be informed of the administration fee amount before a technician visits.

Please follow these electricity and safety precautions:

Warning

– Do not touch the power plug with wet hands. Otherwise, an electric shock may result.

– Do not bend or pull the power cable with force. Be careful not to leave the power cable under a heavy object. Product failure, an electric shock or fire may result from a damaged cable.

– Do not connect multiple products to a single power socket. Overheated power sockets may cause a fire.

– Insert the power plug all the way in so it is not loose. An unsecure connection may cause a fire.

– Clean any dust around the pins of the power plug or the power socket with a dry cloth. A fire may result.

– Connect the power plug to a grounded power socket (except for devices that do not provide grounding). An electric shock or injury may result.

– Do not use a damaged power plug or a loose power socket. An electric shock or fire may result.

Caution

– Hold the plug when disconnecting the power cable from the power socket. An electric shock or fire may result.

– When connecting the power plug to the port, be sure to connect it completely. If the power plug is not completely connected, it may be unexpectedly disconnected, leading to a risk of overheating and safety accidents.

– Only use the power cable provided with your product by Samsung. Do not use the power cable with other products.

– Keep the power socket where the power cord is connected unobstructed. The power cord must be unplugged to completely cut off power when a problem occurs.

– Do not disconnect the power cable while the product is being used, as it may be damaged by an electric shock.

– You can only assemble the power strip provided with the kiosk. Using any other power strip cannot guarantee your safety.

– Plug the unused outlets in the power strip with the provided cover.

Warning

– Before moving the product, turn off the power switch and disconnect the power cable and all other connected cables. Damage to the cable may cause a fire or electric shock.

– When installing the product, keep it at a distance from the wall so that it is well ventilated. An increased internal temperature may cause a fire.

– Do not install the product in a poorly ventilated space such as a bookcase or closet. An increased internal temperature may cause a fire.

– Keep the plastic packaging out of the reach of children. Children’s misuse of the plastic packaging may cause suffocation.

Caution

– Do not install the power cable (DC power supply) and the product near heat sources (candles, cigarettes, heating devices, direct sunlight, etc.).

– When installing the product, fix it firmly so that it does not fall.

– Do not install the product in a kitchen or near a kitchen counter. Edible oil or oil vapor can damage or deform the product.

– Do not drop the product while moving. The product may fall, causing personal injury or product damage.

– Do not lay down the product on its front. The screen may become damaged.

– Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight may discolour the surface of the screen display.

– Have a technician install the wall-mount hanger. Installation by an unqualified person can result in an injury.

– If the product is installed in an unusual location (e.g., places with fine dust, chemicals, extreme temperatures, high moisture), the environment may cause a serious quality problem.

Warning

– If the product generates a strange noise, a burning smell, or smoke, unplug the power plug immediately.

– Keep remote control batteries and small accessories out of the reach of children.

– If the product is dropped or its appearance is damaged, turn off the power switch and disconnect the power cord.

– Do not move the product by pulling the power cord or any cable.

– Ensure the vents are not blocked by tablecloths or curtains to prevent increased internal temperature.

– Do not apply an impact to the product, as the screen may be damaged.

– Do not insert metallic or flammable objects into the product’s vents or ports.

– Do not place objects containing liquid or metallic objects on top of the product.

– During a lightning or thunderstorm, power off the product and disconnect the power cord.

Caution

– Do not leave heavy objects or items that children like (toys, sweets, etc.) on top of the product.

– Do not hang on or climb on the product.

– Do not insert conductors into a remaining power socket while the plug is connected.

– There is a high voltage inside the product. Never disassemble, repair or modify the product yourself.

– If a gas leakage is found, do not touch the product or power plug; ventilate the room immediately.

– Do not use humidifiers or stoves around the product.

– When not using the product for a long time, disconnect the power cord.

– Use the product at the recommended resolution and frequency.

– Rest your eyes for more than 5 minutes for every 1 hour of product use.

– Leaving a stationary image for an extended period may cause afterimage burn-in. Activate power-saving mode or a screen saver when not in use for long periods.

– Do not use or keep combustible spray or inflammable substances near the product.

– Do not watch the screen too closely and continuously for a long time.

– Do not lift or move the product when it is in operation.

– Do not touch the screen when the product has been on for an extended period as it will become hot.

Warning: Do not spray water or cleaner directly on the product. This can damage the surface, erase markings, or cause an electric shock or fire.

Caution: When cleaning, be sure to disconnect the power plug.

Cleaning Steps:

1. Wipe the surface with a slightly wet, soft cloth.

2. Then wipe with a dry cloth.

General Cleaning Tips:

– Wipe gently with a soft and dry cloth like superfine fibers or cotton flannels to prevent scratches on the product surface and screen.

– Do not scratch the screen with nails or sharp objects.

– If you need to clean the glass part of the touchscreen, apply IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol, 70% or less) on a smooth dry cloth and gently wipe with it. Handle IPA with care as it is flammable and can cause eye damage.

– Do not apply chemicals containing alcohol, solvent, or surfactant such as wax, benzene, thinner, pesticide, air freshener, lubricant, or cleaner to the product. The product’s exterior may be discoloured or cracked.

– Using a UV humidifier nearby may create white-coloured stains on high-glossy products.

You should only use Windows 10 IOT Enterprise 64-bit for this model. If you change the product’s factory OS or install unsupported software, you will not receive technical support, product exchange, or a refund, and a fee will be charged for service requests. Installing a different OS may cause data deletion or prevent the product from starting.

The display buttons are accessible on the back of the unit. You may need to remove the back cover to use the display jog button.

To access the display ports, you must disassemble the display from the Connection Box.

Ventilation

Do not block the ventilation openings at the top of the back of the display. Blocking the ventilation openings may cause overheating and lead to product malfunction.

Installation on a Perpendicular Wall

– Minimum space between product and wall: 15 mm

– Ambient temperature: 35 °C or less

Installation on an Indented Wall

– Minimum space from back wall (A): 15 mm

– Minimum space from top wall (B): 25 mm

– Minimum space from side wall (C): 25 mm

– Minimum space from bottom wall (D): 0 mm

– Ambient temperature: 35 °C or less

Note: This product can be installed with an exclusive Samsung stand (sold separately) or be wall-mounted. Do not install this model on a ceiling, floor, or table.

When installing a wall mount, follow these guidelines:

– Install your wall mount on a solid wall perpendicular to the floor.

– If installing on a slanted wall, it may fall and result in severe personal injury.

– Do not use screws longer than the standard length or that do not comply with VESA standards.

– Do not fasten screws too firmly, as this may damage the product or cause it to fall.

– Do not mount the product at more than a 15-degree tilt.

– Always have at least two people mount the product on a wall.

– Do not install your Wall Mount Kit while the product is turned on to avoid personal injury due to electric shock.

Precautions:

– Do not subject the touchscreen to severe impacts or press it with sharp objects.

– Do not allow the touchscreen to come into contact with other electrical devices, as electrostatic discharges can cause it to malfunction.

– Do not expose the touchscreen to water or humid conditions.

– Do not spray liquid cleansing solutions directly onto the touchscreen.

– Do not damage the edges of the touchscreen.

– Leaving the touchscreen idle for extended periods may result in afterimages (screen burn-in). Turn off the touchscreen when not in use.

– Make sure your hands are clean and dry before using the touchscreen.

– Do not expose the product to foreign substances.

Tips:

– Very light touches on the touchscreen may not be recognized.

– Precisely tap items on the touchscreen for the best results.

– When used under some 3-wavelength lamps, the touchscreen could malfunction.

– The touchscreen sensors are located on the edges. Do not cover the edges with protective covers or accessories.

You can use the following gestures on the touchscreen:

– Tap: Tap the touch screen to select menus, options, or applications. This is similar to clicking a mouse.

– Double-tap: Double-tap the touch screen to open files or items. This is similar to double-clicking a mouse.

– Touch and hold (right-click): To use additional options of an item, touch and hold it on the touch screen.

– Drag: To move an item, touch and hold it, and then drag it on the touch screen to the desired location. This is similar to dragging a mouse.

– Scrolling: To scroll up, down, left, or right, swipe on the touch screen.

To enter text, use the on-screen keyboard. Open it by selecting the keyboard icon on the taskbar. The on-screen keyboard is only available in tablet mode. To change to tablet mode, select the action center icon, then select ‘Tablet mode’ in the taskbar.

Changing the keyboard layout:

To change the keyboard layout, select the settings icon on the keyboard and choose one of the following:

– Simplified QWERTY keyboard

– Mini keyboard (only available in the floating state)

– Split QWERTY keyboard for entering text with two hands

– Standard QWERTY keyboard

– Fixed keyboard

– Floating keyboard

Entering uppercase:

Select the up arrow key before entering a character. For all caps, tap it twice.

Copying and pasting:

1. Drag your finger across text to select it.

2. Touch and hold the text to display the options.

3. Select Copy or Cut.

4. Touch and hold a text input field and then select Paste.

Windows Activation: When you turn the product on for the first time, the Windows activation screen appears. Follow the on-screen instructions. If the date and time are incorrect, go to the desktop taskbar, touch and hold the date/clock area, and select ‘Adjust date/time’ to set it correctly.

Configuring Windows Settings: You can configure basic system settings, install/uninstall apps, and manage accounts on the Windows Settings screen. Select the Windows START button → Settings icon.

Action Center and Notifications: The Windows 10 action centre shows system and push notifications. To check notifications, select the action center icon on the taskbar. When the panel appears, select a message to check it. You can also adjust settings like network options or volume from the quick actions in the action centre.

Unlocking the Screen: To unlock the lock screen, tap the screen and swipe upwards from the bottom. If the account has a password, enter it to log in.

You need to connect a keyboard and a mouse to enter the BIOS screen. Incorrect settings may cause the system to malfunction or crash.

1. Turn on the product.

2. Before the Samsung logo appears, press the F2 key several times.

– If the product is password-protected, press the F2 key several times before the password screen appears.

– If the password screen or the Windows start screen appears, restart the product and try again.

You can change the boot priority from the BIOS setup.

1. Turn on the product.

2. Before the Samsung logo appears, press the F2 key several times to enter the BIOS.

3. Access the Boot menu.

4. Select Boot Device Priority.

5. Select an option menu to open the list.

6. Select an option.

7. Select Save → OK to save and restart.

8. Select Exit → OK to restart without saving the changes.

You can update the software using an update file on a USB device connected to the SERVICE port.

1. Save the update file (in .bin format) from the Samsung website to a USB device. First, format the USB device to FAT32. Ensure only one .bin file is saved in the root directory and use a USB 3.0 or lower version device.

2. Connect the USB device to the (SERVICE) port.

3. From the on-screen menu, select Menu → Support → Software Update.

4. Follow the instructions on the screen to proceed with the update.

Your product will turn off and on again automatically after completing the update. Do not turn off the product until the update is complete. If the ‘No update files found’ message is displayed, check if the USB is in the correct SERVICE port, if the files are compatible, or if the file names are correct.

Sound issue (For models with built-in speakers)

– There is no sound: Check the volume.

– The volume is too low: Adjust the volume. If it is still low after turning it to the maximum level, adjust the volume on the Windows or software program.

Touch function issues

– Touches break, reaction speed gets slow, and so on: Make sure that there are no foreign substances on the screen surface. Check whether the screen is broken. Place the product at least 3 m away from any devices that use high voltage.

Other issues

– The product smells like plastic: The plastic smell is normal and disappears over time.

– The monitor appears tilted: Remove and then attach the stand again to the product.

– Small particles are found on the edges of the product: The particles are part of the product design. The product is not defective.

Printer is not working:

– Make sure there is enough receipt paper in the printer.

– Make sure the receipt paper is properly inserted into the printer.

– Make sure the cover of the receipt paper is closed.

– Check the power and signal cable connection status, and restart the product.

– Press the Self Test button to check if the printer works. It is not the problem of the printer if it works.

QR code/bar code sensor:

– Check the power and signal cable connection status, and restart the product.

– If the recognition results are poor, clean the sensor with a smooth, damp cloth, and then wipe out the moisture and try again.

The printer is not working / COM port operation is abnormal:

– Check the Baud-rate settings and the port numbers of the device and your product.

– Check the USB Driver on the Device Manager menu.

– Check if USB-Serial Adapter exists under the Device Manager – Universal Serial Bus controllers menu.

– If USB-Serial Adapter exists, follow the instructions to update the driver by right-clicking the device, selecting Update Driver, and following the on-screen prompts.

1. Select the Windows START button → Settings → Apps → Apps & features.

2. On the list, select an app to delete, and then select Uninstall.

Reinstalling Windows will erase all data saved on the product. Back up applications and personal data to an external storage device before reinstalling Windows.

1. Select the Windows START button → Settings → Update & Security → Recovery.

2. Select Reset this PC → Get started.

3. Select Keep my files or Remove everything.

After the system is recovered, select the Windows START button → Samsung Update to install the required Samsung applications.

What is afterimage burn-in?

Afterimage burn-in should not occur during normal operation, which involves continuously changing video patterns. If the panel displays a fixed pattern for an extended period, a slight voltage difference may occur between the electrodes in pixels that control the liquid crystals. This can cause a previous image to remain on the screen when the pattern changes. Viewing a fixed screen for an extended period of time may cause afterimage burn-in. This problem is not included in warranty.

Recommended prevention practices:

If the product is not to be used for a long time, turn it off, or activate the Power Saving mode or Screen Saver with a moving image.

– Change the colours regularly.

– Avoid combinations of a text colour and background colour of contrasting brightness.

– Avoid using colours of contrasting brightness (black and white; gray and black).
