How do I place the instrument on a stand?
If you want to place the GO:PIANO88 on a stand, use the Roland KS-13 or KS-11Z stands. Take sufficient care not to get your fingers or other body parts pinched when placing this instrument on the stand.
For KS-13 stand: Adjust the stand width so that the rubber feet on the keyboard side (front) of the piano fit into the holes on the stand.
For KS-11Z stand: Adjust the width of the stand so that the rubber feet on the front side of the piano are inside the stand. Align the front of the piano with the front of the stand.
NOTE: For your safety, do not use the stand at its highest adjustment position.
How do I attach the music rest?
1. Insert the music rest into the slits on the top of the GO:PIANO88.
How do I connect other devices?
To prevent malfunction and equipment failure, always turn down the volume, and turn off all the units before making any connections.
USB Computer port: Use a commercially available USB cable to connect this port to your computer. You can create, record and edit music with your computer to transfer performance data and audio signals between this instrument and DAW software (commercially available). Do not use a USB cable that is designed only for charging a device. Charge-only cables cannot transmit data.
DC In jack: Connect the included AC adaptor to this jack.
Pedal jack: Connect a pedal switch (DP-2, sold separately) or a damper pedal (DP-10, sold separately) here. This instrument detects the polarity of the pedal at startup, so don’t operate the pedal at this time. When the DP-10 is used with the “Continuous” setting, half-damper signals can be detected. When used with the “Switch” setting, half-damper signals are not detected.
Phones/Output jack: Connect a pair of stereo miniature phone type headphones or a speaker here.
How do I install batteries?
You can use eight AA-size Ni-MH or alkaline batteries to power this instrument, instead of an AC adaptor. The volume of sound from the speakers is reduced when this instrument is powered by batteries.
1. Remove the battery cover.
2. Insert the batteries, making sure they face the right way.
3. Close the battery cover.
• When turning the unit over, be careful so as to protect the buttons and knobs from damage. Also, handle the unit carefully; do not drop it.
• When replacing the batteries, the jacks and ports of the GO:PIANO88 may get damaged if you try to lift the GO:PIANO88 with the cables still connected. Unplug all cables and connected devices before you change the batteries.
• If you handle batteries improperly, you risk explosion and fluid leakage. Make sure that you carefully observe all of the items related to batteries that are listed in “USING THE UNIT SAFELY” and “IMPORTANT NOTES”.
How does the auto-off function work and how can I disable it?
The power to this unit turns off automatically to save energy after a certain amount of time (20 minutes by default) has passed since it was last used or since its buttons or controls were operated. The auto-off setting is saved automatically on this instrument.
If the power automatically turns off, any unsaved data is lost. Before the power turns off, save the data that you want to keep.
If you don’t want the unit to turn off automatically, turn this setting off. Note that when the setting is turned off, the unit may consume more power. You can simply turn the power back on after it has turned off automatically.

Why does the power turn off on its own?
With the factory settings, the unit’s power automatically switches off 20 minutes after you stop playing or operating the unit. If you don’t need the power to turn off automatically, turn the “auto-off” setting “Off”.
Why won’t the power turn on?
Is the AC adaptor connected correctly? Check the connection to the “DC In jack”.
Why doesn’t the pedal work, or why is it “stuck”?
• Is the pedal connected properly? Make sure that the pedal is securely connected to the Pedal jack.
• Did you switch on the power while pressing the pedal? This instrument detects the polarity of the pedal at startup. If you operate the pedal during startup, the polarity of the pedal may be detected incorrectly, and the pedal operation may be reversed.
Why is there no sound?
• The instrument’s volume might have been set to minimum.
• A pair of headphones might be connected. When headphones or similar equipment are plugged into the headphones jack, sound is not output from the speakers (by default).
Why is the pitch of the keyboard or song incorrect?
• You might have set the transpose feature.
• The master tuning setting might be inappropriate.
• The sound of the piano is tuned in a unique way that makes the high-frequency range higher and the low-frequency range lower (stretch tuning). As a result, you may feel that the pitches are a little off, but this is how an acoustic piano sounds.
Why are sounds heard twice (doubled) when the keyboard is played?
The instrument might be in dual play mode.
Why does the sound of the higher notes suddenly change from a certain key?
On an acoustic piano, the higher notes of the piano (from the highest key down around 1.5 octaves) fully sustain after you play them even if the damper pedal is not pressed. The sound is also different. In this way, this piano faithfully recreates the action of an acoustic piano. Also, the key range on this instrument that is unaffected by the damper pedal changes depending on the transpose settings.
Why is a high-pitched ringing sound heard?
If you can hear this in headphones:
Some piano tones that feature a brilliant and consistent sound include many high-frequency components, which may include some reverberations that could sound metallic. This is a faithful recreation of the original characteristics of a piano, and is not a malfunction. This kind of reverberation tends to be more audible when a deeper ambience effect is applied, so you might try reducing the ambience effect to help mitigate this issue.
If you can’t hear this through headphones:
There may be another issue causing this, such as the sound resonating with the piano unit. Contact either the dealer where you purchased your instrument, or Roland Support.
Why do low notes sound wrong, or are buzzy?
• If you raise the volume, the sound might be distorted depending on how you play the piano. If this happens, lower the volume.
• If you can’t hear this through headphones: If you play a loud sound, the speakers and other objects near the instrument may resonate. Fluorescent lights and glass doors in the room might also resonate. Playing lower notes in particular at louder volumes makes this more likely to occur. You can follow these steps to minimize resonance:
• Place the instrument at least 30 cm away from walls or other surfaces.
• Keep the volume down.
• Move away from the objects that are resonating.
• If you can hear this in headphones: This might be due to a different reason. Contact either the dealer where you purchased your instrument, or Roland Support.
Why are the even-numbered and odd-numbered volume indicators blinking alternately?
A system error has occurred. Turn the piano off and on again. If this doesn’t solve the problem, perform a factory reset.
