How do I prepare sound files for use with the AX-Edge?
If using a USB flash drive for the first time, format it using the AX-Edge. Prepare the sound file you want to add on the AX-Edge and place the file on your computer. Sound files such as SOUND PACK or WAVE EXPANSION can be obtained via the Roland Cloud.
Where should I save sound files on my USB flash drive?
Save SOUND PACK files (extension: .SDZ) in the ROLAND/SOUND folder and WAVE EXPANSION files (extension: .EXZ) in the root directory of your USB flash drive.
How do I import a SOUND PACK?
- Connect the USB flash drive containing the sound file to the AX-Edge.
- Press the [MENU/WRITE] button.
- Select “UTILITY” using the cursor [K] [J] buttons, and press the [ENTER] button.
- Select “IMPORT TONE” using the cursor [K] [J] buttons, and press the [ENTER] button.
- Select the file containing the tones you wish to import using the [-] [+] buttons and press [ENTER].
- Select the tone you want to import using the [-] [+] buttons and press [ENTER] to add a “+” symbol. To select or deselect all tones, hold down the [SHIFT] button and press the [ENTER] button.
- Press the cursor [J] button.
- Select the import-destination tone using the [-] [+] buttons and press [ENTER] to add a “+” symbol. Be aware that the import-destination tone you select will be overwritten. If there is a tone named “INIT TONE,” it is automatically selected as the import-destination tone (A “+” symbol is automatically added). If you want to keep that tone, clear the “+” symbol. An “*” symbol indicates tones that are used in a program. If the import-destination has fewer tones than the import-source, not all of the selected tones will be imported.
- Press the cursor [J] button. A confirmation screen appears. To cancel, press the [EXIT] button.
- The first time you import, the user license registration screen appears. To continue the import, press the [ENTER] button.
- To execute, press the [ENTER] button. When import is completed, the message “ImportCompleted!” appears. Never turn off the power or disconnect the USB flash drive during a process, such as while the “Processing…” display is shown.
How do I install a WAVE EXPANSION?
- While pressing the [ENTER] button, turn on the power. The EXPANSION top screen appears.
- Press the cursor [J] button to move to the installation screen.
- Use the [-] [+] buttons to select the file you want to install, and press the [ENTER] button. A confirmation screen appears. To cancel, press the [EXIT] button. The first time you install, the user license registration screen appears. To continue the installation, press the [ENTER] button.
- To execute, press the [ENTER] button.
How do I uninstall a WAVE EXPANSION?
- While pressing the [ENTER] button, turn on the power. The EXPANSION top screen appears.
- Use the [-] [+] buttons to select the file you want to uninstall, and then press the cursor [K] button to move to the uninstallation screen. A confirmation screen appears. To cancel, press the [EXIT] button.
- To execute, press the [ENTER] button.
What do I need to know about user licenses for sound packs and wave expansions?
SOUND PACK and WAVE EXPANSION are associated with the user licenses of the user who downloaded them. SOUND PACK or WAVE EXPANSION that have differing user licenses cannot be imported into the same AX-Edge. If you want to import or install SOUND PACK and WAVE EXPANSION that has a different user license than what is already registered to this AX-Edge unit, you must initialize the user licenses by performing the procedure described in “Initializing the User Licenses While Preserving the User Data”.
How do I initialize the user licenses while preserving the user data?
To initialize the user licenses, perform the steps described in “Initializing the user licenses (REMOVE LICENSE)”. NOTE: Installed WAVE EXPANSION are deleted. Never turn off the power or disconnect the USB flash drive during a process, such as while the “Processing…” display is shown.
How do I initialize user licenses (REMOVE LICENSE)?
- Press the [MENU/WRITE] button.
- Use the cursor [K] [J] buttons to select “UTILITY,” and then press the [ENTER] button.
- Use the cursor [K] [J] buttons to select “REMOVE LICENSE,” and then press the [ENTER] button. A confirmation message appears. To cancel, press the [EXIT] button.
- Press the [ENTER] button. A confirmation message appears once again.
- To execute, press the [ENTER] button once again.
- When the LCD display indicates “Completed.,” turn the power of the AX-Edge off and then on again.
What does the error message “File Not Found!” mean, and what should I do?
This appears if the USB flash drive does not contain a WAVE EXPANSION file. Check that the file is correctly saved, and that the file extension is “.exz”.
What does the error message “Incorrect File!” mean, and what should I do?
This appears if the selected sound file is not compatible with the AX-Edge, or if the file is damaged. Check the models that are listed as compatible for the file you downloaded, and try downloading again.
What does the error message “Incorrect License!” mean, and what should I do?
This appears if the selected sound file is associated with a different user license. To install, you must either obtain a file that has the same user license as the currently-installed sound file, or initialize the user licenses.
What does the error message “Expansion Memory Full!” mean, and what should I do?
This appears if there is insufficient free space for installation. To install, you must uninstall a currently-installed to create free space.
What does the error message “Already been installed” mean, and what should I do?
This appears if the selected file is already installed. There is no need to reinstall.
