Placement:

• Do not use this unit in places that are extremely hot, cold, dusty, or humid.

• Do not restrict the airflow of this unit by placing it somewhere with poor airflow, covering it with a cloth, or placing it on bedding or carpeting.

Safety Information:

• When connecting or disconnecting the AC power cord, grip the plug and not the cord itself. Pulling the cord may damage it and create a hazard.

• When you are not going to use the unit for a long period of time, disconnect the AC power cord.

Please follow these personal safety guidelines when setting up your RCA RT4038 TV:

• ALWAYS read and follow all instructions for the installation and use of the TV.

• Place the TV in a location that is level and sturdy.

• DO NOT place the TV on furniture with drawers that can be used as steps by small children.

• DO NOT allow children to pull the TV or climb on the furniture where the TV is placed.

• DO NOT allow children to play in front of or around the TV.

• ALWAYS route all the cables connecting to the TV so the cables cannot be easily pulled and grabbed by children.

• When installing the TV on a wall, please purchase a TV mount recommended by a professional TV installer, and follow the installation instructions that come with the TV mount.

• Before installing the TV on a wall, please check to make sure the wall structure can support the weight of the TV and the mount. If in doubt, please ask for advice from a professional TV installer.

To install the batteries in your remote control:

1. Open the battery door.

2. Insert 2 “AAA” batteries.

Battery Replacement:

When the batteries become weak, the operating distance of the remote control is greatly reduced and you will need to replace the batteries.

Notes on battery use:

• If the remote control is not going to be used for a long time, remove the batteries to avoid damage caused by battery leakage corrosion.

• Do not mix old and new batteries. Do not mix ALKALINE, standard (CARBON-ZINC) or rechargeable (NICKEL-CADMIUM) batteries.

• Always remove batteries as soon as they become weak.

• Weak batteries can leak and severely damage the remote control.

• Do not dispose of batteries in a fire. Batteries may explode or leak. Batteries shall not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire or the like.

The functions of the remote control buttons for the RCA RT4038 TV are as follows:

• POWER: Turns the TV on or off.

• MUTE: Reduces the TV volume to its minimum level. Press again to restore the volume.

• NUMBER BUTTONS (0-9): Select a TV channel directly when you are watching TV.

• —: To switch the channel digit.

• Recall: Returns to the previous channel.

• AUDIO: Switch the audio channel in TV mode.

• FAV-/FAV+: Scan up or down through the current favorite channel list.

• FAV: Adds the current channel to your favorite list, or erases the current channel from your favorite list.

• VOL+ / VOL-: Increases or decreases the TV volume.

• CH+ / CH-: Scans up or down through the current channel list.

• P.MODE: Switches between the preset picture modes.

• S.MODE: Switches between the preset sound modes.

• INPUT: Accesses the available input channels. Use the arrows to highlight options, and press OK to select.

• SLEEP: Selects the sleep timer, after which the TV will shut off automatically.

• ASPECT: Switches between the preset screen size modes.

• INFO: Press to display the current program information on the screen.

• Arrows (Up/Down/Left/Right): Uses the four arrows to highlight different items in the TV menu or change the value.

• OK: Enter and confirm button.

• MENU: Accesses the Main Menu, or returns to the upper level of a sub-menu.

• EXIT: Exits the current menu or function.

• CH.LIST: Lists channels.

• EPG: Shows Electronic Program Guide (use in the DTV mode).

• PLAY/PAUSE: Play or Pause media files.

• STOP: Stop playing media files.

• FR/FF: Fast review or fast forward.

• PREV/NEXT: Select the previous or next media file.

• CC: Selects the closed caption.

• MTS: Select the multi-channel television sound.

• FREEZE: Freeze the current screen frame, press again to return to normal.

• REPEAT: Select the previous or next media file.

• RED/GREEN/YELLOW/BLUE: These control functions do not apply to this model.

The control buttons located on the bottom of the RCA RT4038 TV have the following functions:

1. POWER/OK: In the off mode, a short press turns on the TV. In the on mode, a short press acts as the OK function, and a long press acts as the POWER function to turn the TV off.

2. VOL-: Decreases the volume. In the TV menu system, it acts like the left arrow on the remote control.

3. VOL+: Increases the volume. In the TV menu system, it acts like the right arrow on the remote control.

4. MENU/CH-: A short press scans down through channels (CH-). A long press opens the MENU.

5. INPUT/CH+: A short press scans up through channels (CH+). A long press opens the INPUT source select list.

The RCA RT4038 TV has the following ports on the back panel:

• EARPHONE: Connect a 3.5mm headphone for personal audio.

• OPTICAL: Connect to an external digital audio device.

• CVBS (AV): Connect an AV device that has composite video jacks (L: Left audio, R: Right audio, CVBS/Y: Video).

• YPbPr: Connect a device that has component video jacks, such as a DVD player.

• HDMI1/2/3: Connect devices with an HDMI output.

• VGA: Connect a computer to this jack.

• PC Audio In: Connect the audio output jack of a PC when using the VGA connection.

• RF: Connect an antenna or cable TV line.

• USB Media Player: Connect a USB device, such as a flash drive, to access media functions. It supports TXT for text, MP3 for music, and JPG/JPEG for photos. It cannot play video formats.

To attach the stand:

Step 1. Place a soft cushioned material on top of a flat surface to prevent damaging the screen panel. Then place the TV monitor flat on top, with the screen side facing down.

Step 2. Align the screw holes on the stand and the bottom of the TV.

Step 3. Tighten the screws (M4x16, supplied) with a screwdriver to affix the stand to the panel. Do not apply excessive force as this may damage the screw holes.

To remove the base stand:

1. Disconnect all cables or cords connected to the unit.

2. Lay the unit down on a flat surface with the back side facing up. Make sure to place a soft cushioned material (such as a pillow or thick piece of foam) beneath the screen.

3. To remove the base stand, loosen screws off the holes then pull downwards to release the base stand.

The RCA RT4038 TV is VESA-compliant and designed to be wall-mounted with a VESA-compliant mounting kit (not supplied).

• VESA Pattern: 8″ x 8″ (200mm x 200mm)

• Screw Type: M6 screw

• Screw Length: Should not exceed 8 mm.

Note: You must remove the base stand before mounting the unit on the wall.

When you turn on your RCA RT4038 TV for the first time:

1. Place the TV on a solid, stable surface. Do not expose it to water or heat sources, and do not obstruct the ventilation grid.

2. After connecting your antenna or cable, turn the television ON.

3. A “Setup Wizard” screen will appear. First, select the TV Location (Home mode is recommended for home use as it remembers your customized settings).

4. The next screen will ask you to run a Channel Auto Scan to search and receive available local digital channels. Select your antenna options and run the Channel Auto Scan.

1. Press the INPUT button on the remote control.

2. A “Source Select” list will appear on the screen.

3. Use the ▲ or ▼ buttons to select the desired source (TV, AV, Component, HDMI1, HDMI2, HDMI3, PC, USB Media Player).

4. Press the OK button to confirm your selection. The screen will change to your desired source.

The CHANNEL menu options are only available when the TV is your selected source. The options are:

• Air/Cable: Allows you to switch between air (antenna) and cable input.

• Auto Scan: Searches for channels automatically.

• Favorite: Shows the list of favorite channels you have added.

• Channel List: Shows the list of all stored channels.

• Show/Hide: Allows you to select a channel to be skipped when using CH+/CH- buttons.

• Channel Number: Tells you what channel you are currently on.

• Channel Label: Allows you to change the name of the channel.

You can adjust the picture settings in the PICTURE menu:

• Picture Mode: Changes various color modes for the TV.

• Brightness: Changes the picture’s detail in dark colors.

• Contrast: Changes the difference between dark and bright objects.

• Color: Changes the amount of color in the picture.

• Tint: (Only works in user mode) Adjusts the skin tone. -50 increases red, +50 increases green.

• Sharpness: Changes the picture quality.

• Color Temperature: Adjusts the color temperature, giving warm, normal, or cool tones.

• Advanced Settings:

– ASPECT RATIO: Changes the aspect of the TV’s video (e.g., wide, zoom, cinema, normal).

– NOISE REDUCTION: Reduces general pixilation by blurring them.

– DYNAMIC CONTRAST: Allows the TV to automatically adjust the contrast depending on the picture.

– HDMI MODE: Video Mode will perform overscan and use different aspect ratios; Graphic Mode does not overscan and displays 100% of the video.

You can adjust the sound settings in the SOUND menu:

• Sound Mode: Select an audio-enhancement technique: Standard/Music/Movie/User/Sports. You can also press the S.MODE button on the remote.

• Treble: (For User mode) Controls the intensity of higher-pitched sounds.

• Bass: (For User mode) Controls the intensity of lower-pitched sounds.

• Balance: Adjusts the relative volume of the left and right speakers.

• MTS: Adjusts the second audio programming in analog channels.

• Audio Language: Adjusts the digital second audio programming in digital channels.

• Digital Audio Output: Adjusts the digital audio output (Raw, PCM, or Off).

• Surround Sound: Adjusts the dimensional surround effect on or off (for built-in speakers only).

• AVL (Auto Volume Leveler): Enables volume protection from overly loud commercials.

You can adjust time-related settings in the TIME menu:

• Sleep Timer: Automatically turns off the TV at a designated time.

• Time Zone: Adjusts the global time zone for the TV.

• Daylight Saving Time: Toggles the daylight saving time feature.

• Time Format: Adjusts the display format for the time (e.g., 12-hour or 24-hour).

• Auto Clock: Enables the TV to sync time with the antenna signal. (Turn this off if using Cable or Satellite).

• Clock: Manually adjusts the time and date of the TV. You need to disable AUTO CLOCK to use this function.

The SETUP menu provides access to the following options:

• Menu Language: Changes the language of the TV’s OSD menu.

• Transparent: Changes the transparency of the menu.

• OSD Timeout: Changes the time before the OSD menu automatically goes off.

• Closed Caption: Displays words on the TV.

• Over Scan: Select On / Off.

• Source Label: Changes the source names to your personal preference.

• Other Settings (AUDIO ONLY): This option turns off the screen while the audio is still playing.

• Restore Default: Restores all OSD menu changes back to the default factory settings.

• Setup Wizard: Enables you to show the setup wizard of the TV again.

• CEC: Lets you control HDMI CEC-compatible devices.

• Voice Guidance: Sets the auto voice guidance control.

• Video Description: Changes from the main audio to the secondary audio stream that contains video description.

To access the LOCK menu, press MENU, select LOCK, and enter the password “0000”. The options are:

• Change Password: Allows you to change the LOCK menu password.

• Key Lock: Select On/Off. When Key lock mode is On, you can’t use the key panel buttons on the TV.

• System Lock: Enables parental locking and filtering for the TV.

• Input Block: Block or unblock the input sources.

• US Rating: Filters US TV programming and movies based on ratings.

• Canada Rating: Filters CANADA TV ratings.

• RRT Setting: A downloadable rating filter based on TV broadcasts.

• Reset RRT: Resets the RRT settings.

1. Plug your USB device into the USB port on the TV.

2. Press the INPUT button and select USB Media Player from the source menu.

3. Select the type of media you want to access: PHOTO, MUSIC, or TEXT.

For Photos:

• Select PHOTO, then select your drive disk.

• Navigate to the file you want to view and press the media button to display the picture.

For Music:

• Select MUSIC, then select your drive disk.

• Select the file you want to play. Press the media button to display and operate file details.

For Text:

• Select TEXT, then select your drive disk.

• When reading text books, use the FF and FR buttons on the remote to go to the next or previous page. Use Next and PREV for next or previous part/chapter.

Supported formats: TXT for Text, MP3 for music, JPG and JPEG for photo. This TV model cannot play video formats from a USB device.

The following Component / HDMI input modes are supported on the RCA RT4038 TV:

• Check the location of the antenna and adjust it if necessary.

• Make sure the antenna cable is firmly connected.

• Make sure all input cables are firmly connected.

• Increase the volume.

• Check whether the mute function has been activated on the Remote Control.

• Check the PICTURE setting within the PICTURE menu.

• Check to make sure the program you are watching is broadcast in Color and not Black & White.

• Make sure the unit is plugged in and turned on.

• Make sure that the TV mode is selected.

• Try a new channel to check for possible station trouble.

• Make sure the antenna is connected properly.

• Increase the volume.

• Make sure the antenna or audio/video source device is working properly.

• Make sure all cables are firmly connected.

• Check for local interference.

• Make sure there are no unshielded electrical devices nearby that are causing interference.

• Turn the TV off for 30 minutes, then try it again.

• Under the influence of electrostatic phenomenon, the product may malfunction and require a power reset. Unplug and re-plug the AC power cord.

Yes, the LED TV uses internal lighten phosphor which may increase the temperature of the screen in some occasions. This is not a defect.

Black dots and Bright points may appear on the LED screen. This is a structural property of the LED panel and is not a defect.

The channel may be skipped (hidden in the channel menu). Choose this channel by directly selecting the number buttons from the remote control.

This may be caused by a very short interval between powering OFF and ON. Unplug the power cord and restart the TV.
