The following symbols and conventions are used throughout the user’s guide for your BROTHER MFC-L3750CDW:

To operate the power on your BROTHER MFC-L3750CDW, follow these steps:

To Turn On:

Press the Power On/Off button.

To Turn Off:

Press and hold down the Power On/Off button. The LCD will display [Shutting Down] for a few seconds before going off. If you have an external telephone or TAD connected, it remains available.

To navigate the touchscreen LCD on your BROTHER MFC-L3750CDW, press your finger on the LCD to operate it. To display and access all options, swipe left, right, up, down or press the directional arrows on the LCD to scroll through them.

The following is an example of how to change a machine setting (changing LCD Backlight from [Light] to [Med]):

1. Press [Settings].

2. Press [All Settings].

3. Swipe up or down or press the up or down arrow to display the [General Setup] option, and then press [General Setup].

4. Swipe up or down or press the up or down arrow to display the [LCD Settings] option, and then press [LCD Settings].

5. Press [Backlight].

6. Press [Med].

7. Press the Home button.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT press the LCD with a sharp object, such as a pen or stylus. It may damage the machine.

NOTE: DO NOT touch the LCD immediately after plugging in the power cord or turning on the machine, as this may cause an error.

To load paper into the standard paper tray of your BROTHER MFC-L3750CDW, follow these steps:

1. Pull the paper tray completely out of the machine.

2. Press the green release levers to slide the paper guides to fit the paper size you are loading.

3. Fan the stack of paper well.

4. Load paper in the paper tray with the printing surface face down.

5. Make sure the paper is below the maximum paper mark (▼▼▼). Overfilling the paper tray will cause paper jams.

6. Slowly push the paper tray completely into the machine.

7. Lift the support flap to prevent paper from sliding off the output tray.

Use the ADF on your BROTHER MFC-L3750CDW when copying or scanning multiple-page, standard-sized documents. The ADF can hold up to 50 pages of standard 80 g/m² paper.

1. Unfold the ADF document output support flap.

2. Fan the pages of your document well.

3. Stagger the pages and load your document face up, top edge first, into the ADF.

4. Adjust the paper guides to fit the width of your document.

IMPORTANT:

• Do not leave thick documents on the scanner glass, as this may cause the ADF to jam.

• Do not use paper that is curled, wrinkled, folded, ripped, stapled, paper-clipped, pasted, or taped.

• Do not use cardboard, newspaper, or fabric.

• To avoid damage, do not pull on the document while it is feeding through the ADF.

To use the scanner glass for faxing, copying, or scanning one page at a time, follow these steps. Note that the ADF must be empty to use the scanner glass.

1. Lift the document cover.

2. Place the document on the scanner glass face down.

3. Align the corner of the page with the upper left corner of the scanner glass.

4. Close the document cover. If the document is a book or is thick, press gently on the document cover.

Follow these steps to make a copy using your BROTHER MFC-L3750CDW:

1. Make sure you have loaded the correct size paper in the paper tray.

2. Place the document you want to copy either face up in the ADF (for multiple pages) or face down on the scanner glass.

3. Press [Copy] on the control panel. The copy screen appears on the LCD.

4. Change the copy settings if needed. You can enter the number of copies using the touchscreen or the numeric keypad. You can also press [Options] to change settings like density, enlargement/reduction, and 2-sided copy for the next copy only.

5. Press [Colour Start] or [Mono Start] to begin copying.

To make 2-sided copies and reduce paper usage with your BROTHER MFC-L3750CDW, follow these instructions:

1. Load your document. For automatic 2-sided scanning, you must load your 2-sided document in the ADF. If you use the scanner glass, you can only make 2-sided copies from 1-sided documents.

2. Press [Copy].

3. Enter the number of copies.

4. Press [Options] > [2-sided Copy].

5. Choose one of the following options:

• To make 2-sided copies of a 2-sided document, press [2-sided⇒2-sided].

• To make 2-sided copies from a 1-sided document, press [1-sided⇒2-sided]. You may also press [Layout] to change the binding edge (Long Edge Flip or Short Edge Flip).

6. When finished, press [OK].

7. Press [Colour Start] or [Mono Start].

• If you placed the document in the ADF, the machine scans the pages and starts printing.

• If you are using the scanner glass for a 1-sided to 2-sided copy, place the next page on the scanner glass and press [Continue]. After all pages are scanned, press [Finish].

To send a fax from your BROTHER MFC-L3750CDW:

1. Place the document face up in the ADF or face down on the scanner glass.

2. Press [Fax] on the control panel.

3. Enter the fax number using one of these methods:

• Dial Pad: Press the digits to enter the fax number.

• Address Book: Press [Address Book], then swipe or use the arrows to find the number you want, and press it.

• Call History: Press [Call History], press [Outgoing Call], find the number, and press it.

4. Press [Fax Start]. The machine will scan and send the document.

If you used the scanner glass, the machine will ask if you want to scan another page. To scan the next page, press the [Yes] option, place the next page on the scanner glass, and press [OK]. After you have scanned the last page, press the [No] option to send the document.

The BROTHER MFC-L3750CDW has several receive modes to manage incoming calls:

• Fax Only Mode: Automatically answers every call as a fax.

• Fax/Tel Mode: Recognises whether incoming calls are faxes or voice calls. It receives faxes automatically. For voice calls, it produces a special fast double-ring (F/T ring) to alert you to pick up the call.

• Manual Mode: Turns off all automatic answering. To receive a fax, you must lift the handset of an external telephone. When you hear fax tones, you press the appropriate buttons on the machine to receive the fax.

• External TAD Mode: Allows an external Telephone Answering Device (TAD) to manage calls. The machine “listens” for fax tones after the TAD answers. If it hears fax tones, it takes over the call to receive the fax. If not, the TAD can record a voice message.

Cleaning the corona wires can resolve print quality issues like vertical streaks.

1. Open the top cover of the machine until it locks in the open position.

2. Remove all of the toner cartridge and drum unit assemblies.

3. Clean the corona wire inside each drum unit by gently sliding the green tab from left to right and right to left several times.

4. Be sure to return the green tab to the Home position (▲). The arrow on the tab must be aligned with the arrow on the drum unit. If it is not, printed pages may have a vertical stripe.

5. Slide all toner cartridge and drum unit assemblies back into the machine, matching the toner cartridge colour to the same colour label.

6. Close the machine’s top cover.

When the LCD indicates you need to replace a toner cartridge, follow these steps:

1. Make sure the machine is turned on.

2. Open the top cover until it locks in the open position.

3. Remove the toner cartridge and drum unit assembly for the colour shown on the LCD.

4. Push down the green lock lever on the drum unit and take the old toner cartridge out.

5. Unpack the new toner cartridge and remove its protective cover.

6. Insert the new toner cartridge firmly into the drum unit until you hear it lock into place.

7. Clean the corona wire inside the drum unit by sliding the green tab from left to right and back several times. Ensure the tab is returned to the home position (▲).

8. Slide the toner cartridge and drum unit assembly back into the machine, matching the colour to the corresponding label.

9. Repeat for any other cartridges that need replacing.

10. Close the machine’s top cover. Do not turn the machine off until it returns to Ready Mode.

Follow these instructions to replace a drum unit:

1. Make sure the machine is turned on and open the top cover until it locks.

2. Remove the toner cartridge and drum unit assembly for the colour indicated on the LCD.

3. Push down the green lock lever and remove the toner cartridge from the drum unit.

4. Unpack the new drum unit and remove its protective cover.

5. Reinsert the toner cartridge firmly into the new drum unit until it locks into place.

6. Slide the combined assembly back into the machine, matching the colour label.

7. Close the top cover.

8. After replacing the drum, you must reset the drum counter. The steps are as follows:

• Press and hold the toner icon for about five seconds.

• Press [Drum].

• Select the toner colour for the drum unit you just replaced.

• Press [Yes].

The steps to clear a paper jam depend on where the jam is located. Always remove the remaining paper from the tray and straighten the stack before reloading to prevent further jams.

• Jam in the Paper Tray: Pull the paper tray completely out, slowly pull out the jammed paper, fan the paper stack, and reload it correctly. Push the tray firmly back in.

• Jam in the Output Paper Tray: Use both hands to open the scanner unit, remove the jammed paper, and then push the scanner down to close it.

• Jam in the Back of the Machine: Let the machine cool for 10 minutes. Open the back cover. Pull the green tabs to release the fuser cover. Gently pull the jammed paper out of the fuser unit. Close the fuser cover and the back cover.

• Jam Inside the Machine: Let the machine cool for 10 minutes. Open the top cover. Remove all toner cartridge and drum unit assemblies. Gently remove the jammed paper. Reinsert all assemblies and close the top cover.

Always refer to the specific jam message on the LCD for guidance.

If you are experiencing print quality problems, try the following solutions:

If the “Cover is Open” message appears on your BROTHER MFC-L3750CDW, it can refer to a few different covers. Check the following:

• Top Cover: Open and then firmly close the top cover of the machine.

• Fuser Cover: This cover is located inside the back cover of the machine. Open the back cover, ensure the fuser cover is securely closed, and then close the back cover.

• ADF Cover: Open and then firmly close the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) cover.

If the error message remains after checking these covers, press the Stop/Exit button.

The “No Toner” error message indicates that a toner cartridge or the toner cartridge and drum unit assembly is not installed correctly.

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

1. Open the top cover of the machine.

2. Remove the toner cartridge and drum unit assembly for the colour indicated on the LCD.

3. Remove the toner cartridge from the drum unit, and then reinstall the toner cartridge back into the drum unit until it clicks into place.

4. Reinstall the complete toner cartridge and drum unit assembly back into the machine.

5. Close the top cover.

If the problem continues, the toner cartridge may be empty or defective and require replacement.

You can reset the print server to its default factory settings, which will reset all network information such as the password and IP address.

1. Press [Settings] > [All Settings] > [Network] > [Network Reset].

2. A confirmation message “[Machine will reboot after resetting. Press [OK] for 2 seconds to confirm.]” will appear.

3. Press and hold [OK] for two seconds to confirm.

The machine will restart, and the network settings will be restored to their factory defaults.
