PENTAIR ICHLOR (02) PDF SUMMARY:

What should I do before starting the flow-temperature switch replacement?

Turn OFF power to the pool pump and Salt Chlorine Generator cell before starting.

What should I do with the switch cover?

Do NOT discard the switch cover; it will be reinstalled after installation of the new switch assembly.

What should I do with the flow-temperature switch cable before removing the switch?

Loosen the flow-temperature switch cable that is wrapped around the switch nut. Note the direction of the arrows on top of the switch nut.

How do I cut the cable for the flow-temperature switch?

Cut the cable close to the switch to allow enough wire for the new switch cable to be connected to.

How do I remove the flow-temperature switch assembly?

Using a 1-3/16” (30 mm) adjustable wrench, carefully unscrew the flow-temperature switch assembly until the switch can be removed from the cell. Be careful not to damage the cell plastic coupling with the edge of the wrench. Unscrew nut counterclockwise to remove flow-temperature switch assembly.

How do I install the new flow-temperature switch?

Insert the new flow-temperature switch into the threaded hole in the cell and hand tighten as much as possible. Using a flat 1-3/16” (30 mm) wrench, carefully tighten the new flow-temperature switch assembly one or two turns past hand tight. Ensure arrows on the top of the switch nut are pointing in the flow direction and the center arrow is aligned in the center position.

What do I do with the cut cable from the unit?

Strip back the cable that was cut from the unit. Do NOT strip the individual wires.

How do I connect the wires from the new switch?

Insert the RED switch-side wire into one side of a provided splice connector. Insert the RED cell-side wire into the other side of the same connector. Ensure both wires are fully inserted into the connector and then crimp using pliers. Repeat the same steps for the WHITE and BLACK wires. Insert the GREEN cell-side wire into one end of the final splice connector and crimp using pliers. For flow-temperature switches manufactured before September 2018, a grey cable contains a GREEN and WHITE wire. Insert these two wires into the same side of a splice connector and crimp using pliers. These switches are not compatible with cells manufactured after September 2018.

What should I do with the excess wire?

Wrap the excess wire around the flow-temperature switch.

What is the final step after installing the new flow-temperature switch?

Replace the switch cover. The Salt Chlorine Generator is now ready for operation. Return power to the pool pump and the Salt Chlorine Generator cell.
