What are the safety precautions for the OMRON FZ-SF?

WARNING

This product is not designed or rated for ensuring the safety of persons. Do not use it for such purposes.

It is likely to lose one’s sight unusually. Please do not look at the sun light directly with the lens unit.

CAUTION

Please do not put it on the place where direct sunshine tries the lens with the lens removed from the camera. A fire might occur unusually.

What are the precautions for the safe use of the OMRON FZ-SF?

Be sure to respect the following items for safety:

(1) Installation Site

Do not install the OMRON FZ-SF in locations subjected to the following conditions:

• Ambient temperature outside the rating

• Rapid temperature fluctuations (causing condensation)

• Relative humidity outside the range of 35 to 85%

• Presence of corrosive or flammable gases

• Presence of dust, salt, or metallic particles

• Direct vibration or shock

• Reflection of intense light (such as other laser beams or electric arc-welding machines)

• Direct sunlight or near heaters

• Water, oil, or chemical fumes or spray

• Strong magnetic or electric field

• Near high-voltage equipment or power equipment

(2) Handling the Camera

• In the installation, tighten the screw, the lens, and the photograph ring surely.

• The Camera amplifier case is connected to the 0V line in the internal circuits. Observe the following precautions to prevent noise interference:

– Do not ground the Camera.

– Please use the plinth and the mounting bracket when you set it up.

(3) Others

• Do not use unspecified camera cable and a strobe controller other than those that specified in this manual with the FZ controller. Connection with unspecified camera cable and/or strobe controller may malfunction at the worst case.

• If you do not use the enhancing connector on the back of the camera amplifier, do not remove the cap that is attached to the connector.

• Do not attempt to dismantle, repair, or modify the main body. If you suspect an error or malfunction, stop using the Controller immediately, turn OFF the power supply, and consult your OMRON representative.

• Dispose of FZ-SC5M/S5M components as industrial waste.

What are the correct usage precautions for the OMRON FZ-SF?

Please observe the following precautions to prevent failure to operate, malfunction, or undesirable effects:

(1) Connecting Cables

• Be sure to turn off the power before connecting or disconnecting the cables. The camera might break when the power supply detaches it while turned on.

(2) Optical axis of the Camera

• The center of the optical axis varies with the camera used. Therefore, when installing the camera, always check the center of the image displayed on the monitor.

(3) Maintenance

• If large dust particles adhere to the CCD, use a blowerbrush (used to clean camera lenses) to blow them off. Do not blow the dust particles with your mouth.

• Do not use thinners, benzene, acetone, or kerosene to clean the Camera.

How do I use the lens and photograph ring with the OMRON FZ-SF?

1. Mount the lens as shown in the provided diagrams and screw it into the inner part of the camera mount. If you need to use the OMRON FZ-SF in a narrow view and at a short distance, place the photograph ring between the camera head and the lens, referring to an optical diagram for guidance.

2. Adjust the focus of the image by loosening the lens and the photographing ring to a suitable position, then fix them firmly with the lens fixation ring.

3. Adjust the image brightness using the diaphragm adjustment knob. After rotating the knob to the desired brightness, temporarily detain it, and then fix it firmly with the fixed screw on the other side.

Please note: Use the draw out dimension of the lens within the specified range (0.7mm to 2.7mm or 0mm to 2.0mm, depending on the diagram). Using dimensions outside this range may cause the lens and photographing ring to come off, depending on the usage environment.

How do I change the base mount position of the camera amplifier on the OMRON FZ-SF?

The camera base, which is attached to the bottom of the OMRON FZ-SF camera amplifier, can be moved to another side of the amplifier. To do this, remove the four screws (M2x7) from the base. Then, re-attach the base to the desired side of the camera amplifier. The recommended screw tightening torque is 0.32 N·m. When attaching the plinth to the top side or the side, use three mounting screws to secure it.

How do I change the base mount position of the camera head on the OMRON FZ-SF (models FZ-SPC/SP)?

For OMRON FZ-SF models FZ-SPC/SP, the camera base attached to the bottom of the camera head can be moved to another side. To do this, remove the four screws (M1.4×5) from the base and re-attach the base to the other side of the camera head. The recommended screw tightening torque is 0.15 N·m. Note that the distance from the lens mount to the plinth will change when you install it on the top or bottom versus the side.

How do I use the mounting bracket for the OMRON FZ-SF camera head (models FZ-SFC/SF)?

For OMRON FZ-SF models FZ-SFC/SF, the mounting bracket is attached to the camera head using the four provided screws (M2x4). Fix the bracket in the direction shown in the product diagrams. The recommended screw tightening torque is 0.1 N·m.

How do I install the OMRON FZ-SF camera head?

Bottom Installation:

When mounting from the bottom, a spacer must be used. The spacer must have a length of 11mm or more to prevent the camera head from coming into contact with a metallic side.

Side Installation:

The camera can also be mounted from the side using the appropriate mounting holes.

How do I connect the camera head and camera amplifier for the OMRON FZ-SF?

Connecting Camera Head and Amplifier:

1. Insert the front connector of the camera amplifier into the connector of the camera head.

2. Turn the ring to fix it firmly.

Important: Before connecting, confirm that the model and serial number of the camera amplifier and camera head are the same. If the model and serial number are different, the OMRON FZ-SF will not operate normally.

Connection of Camera Amplifier and Camera Cable:

1. Use the Camera cable FZ-VS (sold separately).

2. Connect the connector on the back of the camera amplifier to the camera connector on the Controller FZ series.

Note: The camera cable is polarized. Ensure that the end bearing a name plate is connected to the Controller.
