The NIKON COOLPIX P1100 User’s Manual (with Warranty) provides basic camera operations. For details, refer to the Reference Guide, which can be downloaded. Attach the strap to the strap eyelets on both sides of the camera.

When you are not shooting, attach the lens cap to protect the lens.

When the lens hood is attached, align the triangle mark on the lens hood with the lens-hood mounting mark on the lens. Rotate the lens hood counter-clockwise until the circle mark on the lens hood aligns with the mounting mark.

The lens cap can be attached with the lens hood attached. Using the lens hood is recommended to prevent stray light from interfering with shots and to protect the lens. It also minimizes glare, allowing for shooting of clear images with beautiful coloring.

1. Open the battery-chamber/memory card slot cover.

2. Insert the battery and memory card.

• Insert the battery in the orientation shown. Use the orange battery latch to hold the battery in place.

• Slide the memory card in until it clicks into place.

3. Close the battery-chamber/memory card slot cover.

• Make sure that the cover is in the closed state when you use the camera.

Charge the supplied EN-EL20a Rechargeable Li-ion Battery before use. The battery cannot be used with other camera models.

1. Connect the separately sold AC-20 USB Cable (featuring a Type-C connector) between the camera and the supplied optional EH-7P AC Adapter.

2. Insert the EH-7P AC Adapter into a wall outlet. Keep the plug straight during insertion and removal.

The power-on lamp (charge lamp) slowly blinks green to indicate that the battery is charging. When charging is complete, the power-on lamp turns off. Unplug the charging AC adapter from the electrical outlet and disconnect the USB cable. Charging time is about 2 hours and 20 minutes when no charge remains.

Notes about charging

• The camera can be used while the battery is charging. However, charging time is longer while the camera is in use. The power-on lamp does not blink while the camera is in use, even if the battery is charging.

• When charging is complete, the power-on lamp turns off. If you turn on the camera, the power-on lamp blinks rapidly to inform you that charging is complete.

• Do not use USB cables other than the UC-E21. Using a USB cable other than the UC-E21 may cause overheating, fire, or electric shock.

Notes about the plug adapter

The shape of the plug adapter varies with the country or region of purchase. Insert or remove the plug adapter straight, not at an angle.

Tips when charging with the EH-8P AC adapter (available separately)

• For charging with the EH-8P AC adapter (available separately), the separately sold UC-E21 USB cable is required.

• Use an AC adapter that complies with USB-PD (Power Delivery) requirements. Use an AC adapter with a USB Type-C connector that supports an output of 5 V/3 A or greater.

• To connect the EH-8P AC adapter to the camera, use a USB cable that has a Type-C connector on both ends.

• The battery also charges if the camera is connected to a computer using the supplied USB cable. Depending on the computer specifications, charging from a computer may not be possible. If the camera is connected to a computer that does not supply current to charge the battery, the battery will not charge.

The vari-angle monitor opens 180° to the side and can be rotated 90° clockwise and 180° counter-clockwise from the position where it faces the lens. You can adjust the monitor’s angle to shoot at any angle and to take self-portraits.

1. Press the power switch to turn the camera on. When turned on for the first time, the screen to set the language and clock is displayed.

2. Press the multi selector up or down to highlight a language and press the OK button. The displayed language may vary by country or region of initial purchase.

3. Press up or down to highlight your home time zone and press OK.

4. Press up or down to highlight items and press left or right to change. Press the OK button to set the date and time.

5. Press up or down to highlight [Date format] and press OK. Highlight a format and press OK.

6. Press up or down to highlight [Daylight saving time]. The default setting is [Off]. If daylight saving time is in effect in your time zone, press up or down to select [On] and press OK.

7. When prompted, press up or down to highlight [Yes] and press OK.

When connecting the camera to a smart device, you can use the SnapBridge app to download images from the camera or to operate the camera remotely.

When the camera is turned on for the first time, after setting the language, date, and time, a screen is displayed asking if you want to connect to a smart device. If you select [Yes], you can easily establish a connection. If you select [No], you can establish a connection later from the setup menu.

1. Rotate the mode dial to select a shooting mode. The NIKON COOLPIX P1100 features an auto mode, scene modes, and creative modes.

3. Hold the camera steady. Keep your fingers and other objects away from the lens, flash, AF-assist illuminator, microphone, and speaker.

4. Frame the picture. Move the zoom control or the side zoom control to change the zoom lens position.

5. Press the shutter-release button halfway. The camera focuses on the subject in the center of the frame. When the subject is in focus, the focus area is displayed in green.

6. Without lifting your finger, press the shutter-release button all the way down.

1. Display the shooting screen and press the movie-record button to start recording. The time remaining for recording is displayed.

2. Press the movie-record button again to end recording.

1. Press the playback button to enter full-frame playback mode.

2. Use the multi selector to select an image for display.

• Press up or down to view images. Hold down to view images quickly.

• To return to shooting mode, press the playback button or shutter-release button.

• To prevent mold or mildew, take the camera out of storage at least once a month. Turn the camera on and release the shutter a few times before putting the camera away again.

• Store the battery in a cool, dry place with an ambient temperature of 15°C to 25°C (59°F to 77°F). Do not store the battery in hot or extremely cold places.

• Places exposed to temperatures above 60°C (140°F) or below -10°C (14°F) are likely to damage the camera. Do not leave the camera in direct sunlight or in a vehicle on a hot day.

Before consulting your retailer or a Nikon-authorized service representative, check the list of common problems below.

Problem	Cause/Solution
The camera is on but does not respond.	Wait for recording to end. If the problem persists, turn the camera off. If the camera does not turn off, remove and reinsert the battery or, if you are using an AC adapter, disconnect and reconnect the AC adapter. Note that any data currently being recorded will be lost. Data that have already been recorded will not be affected by removing or disconnecting the power source.

WARNING

• Do not use while walking or operating a vehicle.

• Do not disassemble or modify this product. Do not touch internal parts that become exposed as a result of a fall or other accident.

• Should you notice any abnormalities such as the product producing smoke, heat, or unusual odors, immediately disconnect the battery or power source.

• Do not look at the sun or other bright light source through the lens.

• Do not use this product in the presence of flammable dust or gas such as propane, gasoline or aerosols.

• Do not point the flash at the operator of a motor vehicle.

• Keep this product out of reach of children. This product is not a toy.

• Do not touch the lens or other parts that move at high speed during operation.

• Do not leave the product where it will be exposed to extremely high temperatures, such as in an enclosed automobile or in direct sunlight.

• Do not immerse in or expose to water.

• Do not use a charging AC adapter or AC adapter/charger to charge non-compatible batteries.

• Do not handle with bare hands in locations exposed to oil.

• Do not leave a lens pointed at the sun or another strong light source.

• Disposing of data storage devices: Please note that deleting images or formatting memory cards or other data storage devices does not completely erase the original image data.

The Camera Body

Do not use alcohol, thinner, or other volatile chemicals.

The Lens

The lens is easily damaged. Remove dust with a blower. When using an aerosol blower, keep the can vertical to prevent the discharge of liquid. To remove fingerprints or other stains, wipe the lens with a soft, clean cotton cloth or lens-cleaning tissue, using a spiral motion from the center of the lens outwards. Do not use hard pressure or wipe the lens with a cloth that is rough. If these methods are not sufficient, apply a small amount of lens cleaner to a cloth and wipe.

The Monitor

Remove dust with a blower. To remove fingerprints and other stains, wipe the monitor with a soft, dry cloth, being careful not to apply pressure. If the monitor breaks, care should be taken to avoid injury from broken glass.

Storage

To prevent mold or mildew, take the camera out of storage at least once a month. Turn the camera on and release the shutter a few times before putting it away again. Store the camera in a cool, dry place. Do not store the camera with naphtha or camphor moth balls, in a poorly ventilated area or one subject to humidity of over 60%, next to equipment that produces strong electromagnetic fields, or where it will be exposed to temperatures above 60 °C (140 °F) or below −10 °C (14 °F).

Precautions on Using the Camera

• When carrying the camera, ensure that the lens is retracted.

• Avoid hitting or dropping the camera.

• Do not use force on the lens or monitor.

• The use of a memory card may become hot. This is not a malfunction.

• When not using the camera for an extended period, remove the battery and memory card.

• When formatting a memory card, format it with this camera. Do not format the memory card using a computer.

• Do not turn the camera off or remove the battery or memory card while the memory card access lamp is lit. The data may become corrupted or lost.

• Before use, charge the battery. When using the battery in cold conditions, the battery performance may be reduced.

• A dirty battery terminal may prevent the camera from turning on. If the battery terminal becomes dirty, wipe it with a clean, dry cloth before use.

• Turn off the camera before replacing the battery.

• In an environment of about 25 °C (77 °F), the battery may feel hot to the touch after use. This is not a malfunction.

• The battery may be hot immediately after using the camera for a long time or taking pictures in succession. Leave the battery to cool down before charging.

• If you do not intend to use the camera for a long period, charge the battery about once every six months and use it until the battery level becomes empty before storing it.

• Charge the battery indoors at an ambient temperature of 5 °C to 35 °C (41 °F to 95 °F).

• Do not continue charging once the battery is fully charged, as this will result in reduced battery performance.

• Battery capacity may be temporarily reduced at low temperatures. A spare battery is recommended when taking pictures in cold conditions.

• The battery may feel warm to the touch during charging. This is not a malfunction.

• If you will not be using the product for a long time, store the battery in a cool, dry location with a remaining charge of around half and an ambient temperature of 15 °C to 25 °C (59 °F to 77 °F).
