Please read the user manual carefully before using your NEC NP-V302H projector and keep it handy for future reference.

CAUTION: To turn off the main power, be sure to remove the plug from the power outlet. The power outlet socket should be installed as near to the equipment as possible and should be easily accessible.

CAUTION: To prevent shock, do not open the cabinet. There are high-voltage components inside. Refer servicing to qualified service personnel.

A symbol with a lightning bolt warns the user that uninsulated voltage within the unit may be sufficient to cause electrical shock.

A symbol with an exclamation mark alerts the user that important information concerning the operation and maintenance of this unit has been provided.

WARNING: To prevent fire or shock, do not expose this unit to rain or moisture. Do not use this unit’s plug with an extension cord or in an outlet unless all the prongs can be fully inserted.

EU-wide legislation requires that used electrical and electronic products, including projectors and their lamps, must be disposed of separately from normal household waste. When you dispose of such products, please follow the guidance of your local authority and/or ask the shop where you purchased the product. This effort helps reduce waste and minimize the negative impact of materials like mercury on human health and the environment.

To ensure the long life of your NEC NP-V302H projector and to prevent fire and shock, please follow these installation safeguards:

Do not place the projector in the following conditions:

• On an unstable cart, stand, or table.

• Near water, baths, or damp rooms.

• In direct sunlight, near heaters, or heat-radiating appliances.

• In a dusty, smoky, or steamy environment.

• On a sheet of paper, cloth, rugs, carpets, or any objects which are damaged or affected by heat.

For ceiling installation:

• Do not attempt to install the projector yourself.

• The projector must be installed by qualified technicians to ensure proper operation and reduce the risk of bodily injury.

• The ceiling must be strong enough to support the projector, and the installation must be in accordance with any local building codes.

WARNING:

• Do not use any object other than the projector’s lens cover to cover the lens while the projector is on. Doing so can cause the object to get extremely hot, possibly resulting in a fire or damage.

• Do not place any objects that are easily affected by heat in front of the projector lens, as they could melt.

• Ensure sufficient ventilation by allowing at least 4 inches (10cm) of space between your projector and a wall. Do not obstruct vents.

• Do not touch the exhaust vent as it can become heated during and immediately after operation.

• Prevent foreign objects like paper clips from falling into your projector. If something falls in, disconnect it immediately and have it removed by qualified service personnel.

• Do not place any objects on top of the projector.

• Do not touch the power plug during a thunderstorm to avoid electrical shock or fire.

• The projector is designed for a power supply of 100-240V AC 50/60 Hz. Ensure your power supply matches this requirement.

• Do not look into the lens while the projector is on to avoid serious eye damage.

• Keep items like magnifying glasses out of the light path of the projector.

• Do not block the light path between the light source and the lamp with any objects, as this could cause a fire.

• Handle the power cord carefully. A damaged or frayed power cord can cause electric shock or fire.

• Turn off the projector, unplug the power cord, and have it serviced by qualified personnel if the power cord is damaged, if liquid has been spilled into the projector, or if it has been exposed to rain or water.

• Handle the remote control carefully.

• If the remote control gets wet, wipe it dry immediately.

• Avoid excessive heat and humidity.

• Do not short, heat, or take apart batteries.

• Do not throw batteries into fire.

• If you will not be using the remote control for a long time, remove the batteries.

• Ensure that you have the batteries’ polarity (+/–) aligned correctly.

• Do not use new and old batteries together, or use different types of batteries together.

• Dispose of used batteries according to your local regulations.

• Use the specified lamp for safety and performance.

• Follow all instructions for replacing the lamp.

• Be sure to replace the lamp when the message [THE LAMP LIFE EXCEEDED] appears. Continuing to use the lamp beyond its usable life may cause the lamp bulb to shatter, scattering glass fragments inside the lamp case. If this happens, contact your dealer for lamp replacement.

CAUTION: Do not touch the lamp immediately after it has been used; it will be extremely hot. Turn the projector off, disconnect the power cord, and allow at least one hour for the lamp to cool before handling. When removing the lamp from a ceiling-mounted projector, ensure no one is underneath it, as glass fragments could fall if the lamp has burned out.

Before viewing 3D images, read the health care precautions included with your LCD shutter eyeglasses and 3D content. To avoid adverse symptoms, heed the following:

• Do not use LCD shutter eyeglasses for viewing any material other than 3D images.

• Allow a distance of 2 m/7 feet or greater between the screen and a user. Viewing from too close can strain your eyes.

• Avoid viewing 3D images for a prolonged period. Take a break of 15 minutes or longer after every hour of viewing.

• If you or a family member has a history of light-sensitive seizures, consult a doctor before viewing 3D images.

• If you experience symptoms like nausea, dizziness, headache, eyestrain, blurry vision, convulsions, or numbness while viewing, stop immediately. If symptoms persist, consult a doctor.

• Set [FAN MODE] to [HIGH ALTITUDE] when using the projector at altitudes approximately 2500 feet/760 meters or higher.

• Using the projector at these altitudes without setting [HIGH ALTITUDE] can cause it to overheat and shut down.

• Using the projector at altitudes less than 2500 feet/760 meters with [HIGH ALTITUDE] enabled can cause the lamp to overcool, leading to image flicker. Switch [FAN MODE] to [AUTO] in this case.

• Using the projector at high altitudes can shorten the life of optical components such as the lamp.

Follow these warnings to maximize the life of your NEC NP-V302H projector:

• The projector detects the lamp life itself. Be sure to change the lamp when it shows warning messages.

• Reset the “CLEAR LAMP HOURS” function from the “OPTIONS | LAMP SETTINGS” menu after replacing the lamp module.

• When switching the projector off, ensure the cooling cycle has been completed before disconnecting power.

• Turn on the projector first and then the signal sources.

• When the lamp reaches the end of its life, it will burn out and may make a loud popping sound. The projector will not turn back on until the lamp module is replaced.

Do:

• Turn off the product before cleaning.

• Use a soft cloth moistened with mild detergent to clean the display housing.

• Disconnect the power plug from the AC outlet if the product is not being used for a long period of time.

• If the lens is soiled, use a commercially available cleaning cloth for the lens.

Do not:

• Use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents to clean the unit.

• Use under the following conditions: extremely hot, cold, or humid; in areas with excessive dust and dirt; in direct sunlight; outdoors.

• Move the projector by holding the cable cover.

• Hang from the projector during a ceiling or wall-mounted installation.

• Apply excessively strong pressure against the lens.

• Keep fingerprints off the lens surface.

• Install and store in powerful magnetic fields or in a corrosive gas environment.

The NEC NP-V302H projector package includes the following items:

Note: Some regions may have different accessories depending on local applications.

The control panel on the NEC NP-V302H has several buttons and indicators:

• VOLUME – / +: Decrease or increase speaker volume.

• Four Directional Select Keys (◄, ►, ▲, ▼): Use to select items or make adjustments in the OSD menu. They also function as Quick Keys when the OSD is not displayed.

• LAMP LED: Indicates the projector’s lamp status.

• STATUS LED: Indicates the projector’s various statuses.

• POWER LED: Indicates the projector’s power status.

• POWER (button): Turns the projector on or off.

• EXIT: Press to exit the OSD menu.

• SOURCE: Press to select an input signal.

• MENU: Press to launch the On-Screen Display (OSD) or to go back to the top level of the OSD.

• KEYSTONE Correction: Adjusts the image to compensate for vertical distortion (trapezoid effect). For the NP-V302H model, it also supports horizontal keystone correction using the left/right arrow buttons.

• ENTER: Confirms your selection of items in a sub-menu.

The remote control for the NEC NP-V302H has the following functions:

1. Press firmly on the battery cover and slide it off.

2. Install two new AAA batteries. Ensure that you have the batteries’ polarity (+/–) aligned correctly as indicated inside the compartment.

3. Slip the cover back over the batteries until it snaps into place. Do not mix different types of batteries or new and old batteries.

The remote’s infrared signal operates by line-of-sight up to a distance of about 22 feet (7 m) and within a 60-degree angle of the projector’s remote sensor.

To view 3D images, you will need commercially available LCD shutter eyeglasses that are DLP® Link compatible and support a vertical refresh rate up to 144 Hz.

Follow these steps:

1. Connect the NEC NP-V302H projector to your 3D-compatible video equipment.

2. Turn on the projector and display the on-screen menu.

3. Select [3D SETTINGS] from the [SCREEN] tab and then select [ON] for [3D].

4. Set [3D INVERT] and [3D STRUCTURE] as necessary, depending on your 3D content.

5. Play your 3D compatible content and use the projector to display the image.

6. Put on your LCD shutter eyeglasses to view the 3D images. Refer to the user’s manual for your eyeglasses for more information.

1. Securely connect the power cord and signal cable. The POWER/STANDBY LED will turn Red or Orange.

2. Turn on the projector by pressing the “POWER” button on the remote control or the power button on the control panel. The POWER/STANDBY LED will turn Green.

3. The startup screen will display in approximately 10 seconds. The first time you use the projector, you will be asked to select a preferred language and power-saving mode.

4. Turn on your source (computer, notebook, video player, etc.). The projector will detect the source automatically. If you have multiple sources connected, use the “SOURCE” button to switch between inputs.

1. Press the “POWER OFF” button on the remote control or the power button on the control panel. A confirmation message (“POWER OFF ARE YOU SURE”) will appear on the screen.

2. Press the “POWER OFF” button a second time to confirm.

3. The projector will cool down and then shut off. Once the cooling cycle is complete, you can disconnect the power cord from the electrical outlet.

• “STATUS” LED flashes red / “TEMPERATURE TOO HIGH” message: Indicates the projector has overheated. It will shut down automatically. Ensure air inlets and outlets are not blocked and the environment temperature is under 40°C.

• “LAMP” LED turns red / “LAMP LIFE EXCEEDED” or “LAMP LIFE IS ABOVE LIMIT TIME” message: Indicates the lamp is approaching its end of life. Change the lamp as soon as possible.

• “STATUS” LED flashes red / “FAN LOCKED” message: Indicates a fan has failed. Stop using the projector, disconnect the power cord, and contact your dealer or service center.

Adjusting the Height:

1. Press and hold the tilt foot release button to raise or lower the front of the projector. Release the button to lock it in place.

2. Rotate the rear feet counter-clockwise to raise the projector or clockwise to lower it.

Adjusting the Focus:

• Rotate the focus ring on the lens until the image is clear.

Adjusting the Image Size (Zoom):

• Turn the zoom lever on the lens in or out to adjust the image size.

1. To open the OSD, press the MENU button on the remote control.

2. When the OSD is displayed, use the ◄► buttons to select a main menu item (IMAGE, SCREEN, SETTING, OPTIONS). Press the ▼ button to enter the sub-menu.

3. Use the ▲▼ buttons to select the desired item in the sub-menu and adjust the settings using the ◄► buttons.

4. Press the ENTER button to enter another sub-menu if available. Press the MENU button to close the sub-menu after adjustment.

5. After adjusting settings, press the MENU or EXIT button to go back to the main menu.

6. To exit the OSD completely, press the MENU button again. The OSD will be closed, and the new settings will be saved automatically. The OSD will also close automatically if no button is pressed for 30 seconds.

Navigate to the IMAGE > GENERAL menu in the OSD.

• PICTURE MODE: Select a preset optimized for various types of images. Options include PRESENTATION, HIGH-BRIGHT, VIDEO, MOVIE, sRGB, BLACKBOARD, USER1, and USER2.

• WALL COLOR: Compensates for the color of the projection surface (e.g., a green blackboard). Options include OFF, RED, GREEN, BLUE, etc.

• BRIGHTNESS: Adjusts the brightness of the image. Press ◄ to darken, ► to lighten.

• CONTRAST: Controls the difference between the lightest and darkest parts of the image. Press ◄ to decrease, ► to increase.

• SHARPNESS: Adjusts the sharpness of the image. Press ◄ to decrease, ► to increase.

• SATURATION: Adjusts the image from black and white to fully saturated color (for video signals). Press ◄ to decrease, ► to increase.

• HUE: Adjusts the color balance of red and green (for video signals).

Navigate to the IMAGE > ADVANCED menu in the OSD.

• GAMMA: Choose a gamma table for the best image quality for the input. Options include FILM, VIDEO, GRAPHICS, PC, BLACKBOARD.

• BrilliantColor™: Enables higher brightness with more vibrant colors. Adjust from 0 (natural) to 10 (enhanced).

• COLOR TEMP.: Adjusts the color temperature. Options are LOW, MEDIUM, HIGH.

• DYNAMIC CONTRAST: Turning this ON allows the contrast ratio to be adjusted to the proper level automatically.

• COLOR: Manually adjust RED, GREEN, BLUE, CYAN, MAGENTA, and YELLOW GAIN and BIAS settings.

• COLOR SPACE: Select an appropriate color matrix type from AUTO, RGB, or YUV.

Navigate to the SCREEN > GENERAL menu in the OSD.

• ASPECT RATIO: Choose the desired display format. Options include 4:3, 16:9, 16:10, 15:9, 5:4, NATIVE (original image without scaling), and AUTO (automatically selects the appropriate format).

• OVERSCAN: Removes video encoding noise on the edge of a video image source. Options are 0%, 5%, 10%.

• KEYSTONE: Adjusts image distortion vertically (V Keystone) and horizontally (H Keystone) to make the image rectangular.

Navigate to the SETTING > GENERAL menu in the OSD.

• LANGUAGE: Choose the multilingual OSD menu language.

• ORIENTATION: Sets the image orientation for different mounting positions. Options are DESKTOP FRONT (default), DESKTOP REAR, CEILING FRONT, and CEILING REAR.

• HDMI SETTINGS:
– VIDEO LEVEL: Select AUTO, NORMAL, or ENHANCED to adjust video level and contrast for HDMI sources.
– AUDIO SELECT: Choose the audio source from HDMI1/MHL, HDMI2, or COMPUTER.

• MUTE: Choose ON to turn mute on, or OFF to turn mute off.

• VOLUME: Press ◄ to decrease or ► to increase the volume.

Navigate to the SETTING > ADVANCED > SECURITY menu in the OSD.

• SECURITY: Choose ON to require a password when turning on the projector. The default password is ▲►◄▲. To change it, go to CHANGE PASSWORD.

• SECURITY TIMER: Set a usage time limit (MONTH/DAY/HOUR). Once the time has elapsed, the password will be required again.

• CHANGE PASSWORD: Allows you to change the security password. The password must be a combination of the direction keys (▲▼◄►) and be 4 to 10 characters long.

If you enter an incorrect password 3 times, the projector will automatically shut down. If you forget your password, please contact your local office for support.

If no image appears on the screen, try the following:

• Ensure all cables and power connections are correctly and securely connected as described in the “Installation” section.

• Ensure the pins of connectors are not crooked or broken.

• Check if the projection lamp has been securely installed.

• Make sure the projector is switched on (Power LED is green).

• Ensure that the “AV-MUTE” feature is not turned on.

• Press the “AUTO ADJ.” button on the remote control to automatically synchronize the projector to the input signal.

• If using a PC, ensure the display resolution is set correctly on your computer. Access the display settings (e.g., “Adjust screen resolution”) and verify the setting is compatible with the projector.

• If using a notebook, you may need to press a key combination (often Fn + a function key like F3 or F8) to toggle the external display output on.

• Adjust the “PHASE” setting in the OSD menu (SETTING > SIGNAL) to correct it.

• For a vertical flickering bar, use the “CLOCK” setting in the same menu to make an adjustment.

• Check and reconfigure the display mode or refresh rate of your graphic card to make it compatible with the projector.

• Adjust the Focus Lever on the projector lens until the image is sharp.

• Make sure the projection screen is within the required throw distance from the projector.

The image is reversed because the projection orientation is set incorrectly for your setup. To fix this, go to the OSD menu and select “SETTING” > “GENERAL” > “ORIENTATION”. Choose the correct setting for your installation (Desktop Front, Desktop Rear, Ceiling Front, or Ceiling Rear).

Warning: To avoid burns, allow the projector to cool for at least 60 minutes before you replace the lamp.

1. Switch off the power to the projector by pressing the POWER OFF button.

2. Allow the projector to cool down for at least 60 minutes.

3. Disconnect the power cord.

4. Use a screwdriver to loosen the screw on the lamp cover.

5. Slide and remove the cover.

6. Loosen the screw on the lamp module.

7. Lift the handle.

8. Pinch the arrow-marked positions on the connector housing and pull the housing upward to remove the connector.

9. Pull out the old lamp module.

10. Install the new lamp module by reversing the previous steps.

11. After replacing the lamp, turn on the power, and go to the OSD menu: OPTIONS > LAMP SETTINGS > CLEAR LAMP HOURS to reset the lamp usage hours.

If the projection lens is dusty or blemished, follow this procedure:

1. Turn off the projector and let it cool down.

2. Unplug the power cord from the outlet.

3. Use a camera blower to blow dust off the lens. Then, wipe the lens gently using a clean, soft cleaning cloth.

CAUTION:

• Always use a proper lens cleaning cloth.

• Do not wipe the lens hard, as this may cause serious damage.

• Do not use liquid cleaners or chemicals on the cloth.

• Do not use a spray containing flammable gas to remove dust, as it may cause a fire.
