To ensure the long life of your NEC NP-V332W projector and to prevent fire and shock, please read the following safety instructions carefully:

Installation:

• Do not place the projector in the following conditions:

– on an unstable cart, stand, or table.

– near water, baths, or damp rooms.

– in direct sunlight, near heaters, or heat radiating appliances.

– in a dusty, smoky or steamy environment.

– on a sheet of paper, cloth, rugs, carpets, or any objects which are damaged or affected by heat.

• If you wish to have the projector installed on the ceiling:

– Do not attempt to install the projector yourself.

– The projector must be installed by qualified technicians in order to ensure proper operation and reduce the risk of bodily injury.

– In addition, the ceiling must be strong enough to support the projector and the installation must be in accordance with any local building codes.

Power and Operation:

• To turn off main power, be sure to remove the plug from the power outlet. The power outlet socket should be installed as near to the equipment as possible, and should be easily accessible.

• Do not open the cabinet to prevent shock. There are high-voltage components inside. Refer servicing to qualified service personnel.

• Do not use any other object than the projector’s lens cover to cover the lens while the projector is on. Doing so can cause the object to get extremely hot, possibly resulting in a fire.

• Do not place any objects, which are easily affected by heat, in front of the projector lens, as this could lead to the object melting.

• Ensure that there is sufficient ventilation and that vents are unobstructed to prevent the build-up of heat inside your projector. Allow at least 4 inches (10cm) of space between your projector and a wall.

• Do not touch the exhaust vent as it can become heated while the projector is on and immediately after it is turned off.

• Prevent foreign objects such as paper clips from falling into your projector. If something should fall into your projector, disconnect it immediately and have the object removed by qualified service personnel.

• Do not place any objects on top of the projector.

• Do not touch the power plug during a thunderstorm to avoid electrical shock or fire.

• The projector is designed to operate on a power supply of 100-240V AC 50/60 Hz. Ensure your power supply fits this requirement.

• Do not look into the lens while the projector is on. Serious damage to your eyes could result.

• Keep items like magnifying glasses out of the light path of the projector. Redirected light can cause a fire or injury.

• Do not block the light path between the light source and the lamp with any objects, as this could cause the object to catch on fire.

• Handle the power cord carefully. A damaged or frayed power cord can cause electric shock or fire.

– Do not use any power cord other than the one supplied.

– Do not bend or tug the power cord excessively.

– Do not place the power cord under the projector or any heavy object.

– Do not cover the power cord with soft materials such as rugs.

– Do not heat the power cord.

– Do not handle the power plug with wet hands.

• Set [FAN MODE] to [HIGH ALTITUDE] when using the projector at altitudes approximately 2500 feet/760 meters or higher.

• Using the projector at these altitudes without setting to [HIGH ALTITUDE] can cause the projector to overheat and shut down.

• Using the projector at altitudes less than approximately 2500 feet/760 meters while set to [HIGH ALTITUDE] can cause the lamp to overcool, causing the image to flicker. Switch [FAN MODE] to [AUTO] in this case.

• Using the projector at high altitudes can shorten the life of optical components such as the lamp.

Follow these recommendations to maximize the life of your unit:

Do:

• Turn off the product before cleaning.

• Use a soft cloth moistened with mild detergent to clean the display housing.

• Disconnect the power plug from the AC outlet if the product is not being used for a long period of time.

• If the lens is soiled, use a commercially available cleaning cloth for the lens.

Do Not:

• Use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents to clean the unit.

• Use under the following conditions: extremely hot, cold, or humid; in areas with excessive dust and dirt; in direct sunlight; or outdoors.

• Apply excessively strong pressure against the lens.

• Keep fingerprints off the lens surface.

• Install and store in powerful magnetic fields or in a corrosive gas environment.

1. Press firmly and slide the battery cover off.

2. Install two new AAA batteries. Ensure that you have the batteries’ polarity (+/–) aligned correctly.

3. Slip the cover back over the batteries until it snaps into place. Do not mix different types of batteries or new and old batteries.

Remote Control Precautions:

• Handle the remote control carefully.

• If the remote control gets wet, wipe it dry immediately.

• Avoid excessive heat and humidity.

• Do not place the battery upside down.

• Replace only with the same or equivalent type recommended by the manufacturer.

• Dispose of used batteries according to your local regulations.

The NEC NP-V332W projector can display 3D images when used with commercially available LCD shutter eyeglasses.

LCD shutter eyeglasses requirements:

• DLP® Link compatible

• Support vertical refresh rate up to 144 Hz.

Steps for viewing 3D images:

1. Connect the projector to your video equipment.

2. Turn on the projector and display the on-screen menu.

3. Select [3D SETTINGS] from the [SCREEN] tab and then select [ON] for [3D].

4. Set [3D INVERT] and [3D STRUCTURE] as necessary.

5. Play your 3D compatible content and use the projector to display the image.

6. Put on your LCD shutter eyeglasses to view the 3D images.

Also, refer to the user’s manual that came with your LCD shutter eyeglasses for more information and read all health precautions.

1. Securely connect the power cord and signal cable. When connected, the POWER/STANDBY LED will turn Red or Orange.

2. Turn on the projector by pressing the “POWER” button on the remote control or the power button on the control panel. The POWER/STANDBY LED will turn Green.

3. The startup screen will display in approximately 10 seconds. The first time you use the projector, you will be asked to select the preferred language and power saving mode.

4. Turn on your source (computer, notebook, video player, etc.). The projector will detect your source automatically.

If you connect multiple sources at the same time, press the “SOURCE” button on the control panel or direct source keys on the remote control to switch between inputs.

1. Press the “POWER OFF” button on the remote control or the power button on the control panel to turn off the projector lamp. You will see a confirmation message on the on-screen display.

2. Press the “POWER OFF” button again to confirm.

3. Disconnect the power cord from the electrical outlet and the projector. If you disconnect the power cord while viewing a picture and connect it again, wait for at least one second before reconnecting.

• When the “STATUS” LED indicator flashes red, it indicates the projector has overheated. The projector will automatically shut itself down. The on-screen message will be “WARNING! TEMPERATURE TOO HIGH”.

• When the “LAMP” LED indicator turns red and a message displays on-screen, the projector has detected that the lamp is approaching its end of life. Change the lamp as soon as possible. The message will be “WARNING! LAMP LAMP LIFE IS ABOVE LIMIT TIME. LAMP OFF!” or “LAMP LIFE EXCEEDED.”.

• When the “STATUS” LED indicator flashes red and a message displays on-screen, it indicates the fan has failed. Stop using the projector, disconnect the power cord, and contact your local dealer or service center. The message will be “WARNING! FAN LOCKED”.

The projector is equipped with a tilt foot for adjusting the image height.

1. Press and hold the tilt foot release button to raise or lower the projector. Release the button to lock it in place.

2. Rotate the rear feet counter-clockwise to raise the projector or clockwise to lower it.

• To focus the image, rotate the focus ring until the image is clear.

• To zoom the image, turn the zoom lever in or out.

1. To open the OSD, press the MENU button on the Remote Control.

2. When OSD is displayed, use the left/right arrow buttons to select a main menu item (IMAGE, SCREEN, SETTING, OPTIONS).

3. Press the down arrow button to enter the sub menu for that item.

4. Use the up/down arrow buttons to select the desired item in the sub menu and adjust the settings using the left/right arrow buttons.

5. To enter another sub menu, select the item and press the ENTER button. Press the MENU button to close the sub menu after adjustment.

6. After adjusting the settings, press the MENU or EXIT button to go back to the main menu.

7. To exit the OSD, press the MENU button again. The OSD will close and the projector will automatically save the new settings.

The IMAGE menu contains settings for adjusting the picture quality.

GENERAL Sub-menu:

• PICTURE MODE: Choose from presets like PRESENTATION, HIGH-BRIGHT, VIDEO, MOVIE, sRGB, BLACKBOARD, USER1, USER2.

• WALL COLOR: Compensates for the color of the projection surface (OFF, RED, GREEN, BLUE, CYAN, MAGENTA, YELLOW).

• BRIGHTNESS: Adjusts the overall brightness of the image (0-100).

• CONTRAST: Adjusts the difference between light and dark areas (0-100).

• SHARPNESS: Adjusts the clarity of edges in the image (0-31).

• SATURATION: Adjusts the color intensity (video sources only).

• HUE: Adjusts the color balance of red and green (video sources only).

ADVANCED Sub-menu:

• GAMMA: Selects a gamma curve to optimize image quality for different content (FILM, VIDEO, GRAPHICS, PC, BLACKBOARD).

• BRILLIANTCOLOR™: Enhances brightness and color vibrancy (0-10).

• COLOR TEMP: Adjusts the color temperature (LOW, MEDIUM, HIGH).

• DYNAMIC CONTRAST: Automatically adjusts the contrast ratio (ON/OFF).

• COLOR: Fine-tune individual color gains and biases (RED, GREEN, BLUE, etc.).

• COLOR SPACE: Selects the color matrix type (AUTO, RGB, YUV).

The SCREEN menu adjusts the shape and size of the projected image.

GENERAL Sub-menu:

• ASPECT RATIO: Sets the display format (4:3, 16:9, 16:10, 15:9, 5:4, NATIVE, AUTO).

• OVERSCAN: Removes noise from the edges of a video image (0%, 5%, 10%).

• V KEYSTONE: Corrects vertical trapezoidal distortion.

3D SETTINGS Sub-menu:

• 3D: Enables or disables 3D image viewing (ON/OFF).

• 3D INVERT: Inverts the left and right frame contents (ON/OFF).

• 3D STRUCTURE: Sets the 3D format to match the source (AUTO, FRAME PACKING, TOP-AND-BOTTOM, SIDE-BY-SIDE, FRAME SEQUENTIAL).

The SETTING menu configures projector operation and signal settings.

GENERAL Sub-menu:

• LANGUAGE: Sets the language for the on-screen display.

• ORIENTATION: Flips the image for different mounting positions (DESKTOP FRONT, DESKTOP REAR, CEILING FRONT, CEILING REAR).

• HDMI SETTINGS: Configures video level and audio source for HDMI inputs.

• MUTE: Mutes the projector’s audio (ON/OFF).

• VOLUME: Adjusts the speaker volume (0-20).

SIGNAL Sub-menu (for Analog VGA sources):

• PHASE, CLOCK, H.POSITION, V.POSITION: Fine-tunes the analog signal for a stable image.

ADVANCED Sub-menu:

• LOGO: Toggles the display of the NEC startup logo (ON/OFF).

• NETWORK: Configures network settings like DHCP, IP Address, etc.

• CLOSED CAPTION: Enables closed captions for supported signals.

• SECURITY: Sets up password protection and a security timer.

• TEST PATTERN: Displays a grid pattern to help with image adjustments.

The OPTIONS menu controls miscellaneous functions and provides information.

GENERAL Sub-menu:

• INPUT SEARCH: Automatically searches for an active signal when the current one is lost (ON/OFF).

• INPUT: Enables or disables specific input sources from the search cycle.

• FAN MODE: Sets the fan speed (AUTO/HIGH ALTITUDE).

• INFORMATION HIDE: Hides the “SEARCHING” message (ON/OFF).

• ID DISPLAY: Displays the projector ID number when set (ON/OFF).

• BACKGROUND COLOR: Sets the screen color when no signal is present (BLACK/BLUE).

• RESET: Returns all settings to factory defaults.

LAMP SETTINGS Sub-menu:

• LAMP LIFE REMAINING / LAMP HOURS USED: Displays lamp usage information.

• ECO MODE: Reduces lamp brightness to lower power consumption and extend lamp life (OFF/ECO).

• LAMP LIFE REMINDER: Shows a warning message when the lamp is near the end of its life (ON/OFF).

• CLEAR LAMP HOURS: Resets the lamp hour counter after a new lamp is installed.

INFORMATION Sub-menu:

• Displays information like Model No., Serial Number, Source, Resolution, and Software Version.

ADVANCED Sub-menu:

• STANDBY MODE: Sets the power consumption in standby (NORMAL/NETWORK STANDBY).

• DIRECT POWER ON: Automatically powers on the projector when AC power is supplied (ON/OFF).

• AUTO POWER OFF (MIN): Automatically powers off the projector after a set time with no signal.

• OFF TIMER (MIN): Sets a countdown timer to power off the projector.

• CONTROL PANEL LOCK: Disables the buttons on the projector’s control panel (ON/OFF).

• CONTROL ID: Sets an ID for controlling multiple projectors with one remote.

If no image appears on screen, try the following solutions:

• Ensure all cables and power connections are correctly and securely connected as described in the “Installation” section.

• Ensure the pins of connectors are not crooked or broken.

• Check if the projection lamp has been securely installed. Refer to the “Replacing the lamp” section.

• Make sure the projector is switched on.

• Ensure that the “AV-MUTE” feature is not turned on.

• Press the “AUTO ADJ.” button on the remote control.

• If you are using a PC, check the display resolution settings on your computer. Ensure the resolution is compatible with the projector.

• If you are using a notebook, you may need to press a combination of function keys (e.g., Fn + F3 or Fn + F8) to enable the external display output.

• Adjust the “PHASE” in the SETTING menu to correct it.

• If there is a vertical flickering bar, use the “CLOCK” setting to make an adjustment.

• Change the monitor color setting from your computer.

• Check and reconfigure the display mode of your graphic card to make it compatible with the projector.

• Adjust the Focus Lever on the projector lens until the image is sharp.

• Make sure the projection screen is within the required distance from the projector.

Select “SETTING | GENERAL -> ORIENTATION” from the OSD menu and adjust the projection direction to match your setup (Desktop Front, Ceiling Front, etc.).

Warning: To avoid burns, allow the projector to cool for at least 60 minutes before you replace the lamp. To reduce the risk of personal injury, do not drop the lamp module or touch the lamp bulb.

Lamp Replacing Procedure:

1. Switch off the power to the projector by pressing the POWER OFF button on the remote control or the power button on the control panel.

2. Allow the projector to cool down for at least 60 minutes.

3. Disconnect the power cord.

4. Use a screwdriver to loosen the screw on the lamp cover.

5. Slide and remove the cover.

6. Loosen the screw on the lamp module.

7. Lift the handle.

8. Pinch the arrow marked positions on the connector housing and pull the housing upward to remove the connector.

9. Pull out the lamp module.

10. Install the new lamp module by reversing the previous steps. Be sure to tighten all screws.

11. After replacing the lamp, turn on the power, and select the [MENU] button -> OPTIONS | LAMP SETTINGS -> CLEAR LAMP HOURS to reset the lamp usage hours.

If the projection lens is dusty or blemished, please follow this procedure:

1. Turn off the projector and let it cool down for a while.

2. Unplug the power cord from the outlet.

3. Use a camera blower to blow dust off the lens. Gently wipe the lens using a cleaning cloth.

CAUTION:

• Always wipe the lens with a cleaning cloth. Do not wipe it hard, as this may cause serious damage.

• Wiping might scratch the lens, which will impact optical performance.

• Do not use liquid cleaners or chemicals on the cloth.

• Do not use a spray containing flammable gas to remove dust from the lens, as it may cause a fire.
