The Update Tool for the MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC AE-200A is a tool that can update the software of all AE-200/AE-50/EW-50 controllers connected in the air conditioning control system at once. It can update a maximum of 50 controllers simultaneously.

.NET Framework 4.8 is required. When installing the Update Tool, the page will jump to the download site if .NET Framework 4.8 or later is not installed.

Note: The use of the latest version of the OS is recommended.

When connecting the AE-200/AE-50/EW-50 via a LAN, be sure to use the “LAN1” port.

The following restrictions apply when using the Update Tool:

• AE-200 Update Tool is exclusively used for AE-200/AE-50/EW-50. Do not use this tool for other products.

• The AE-200/AE-50/EW-50 software cannot be downgraded to an earlier version.

• Up to 50 AE-200/AE-50/EW-50 controllers can be updated at the same time.

• The communication between the controller and the air conditioning units will stop while the software is being updated. The unit will continue its operation and be operable from local remote controllers, though an error sign may appear.

• Note that Mr. Slim indoor units or systems with no local remote controllers may detect a communication error and come to an abnormal stop.

• While the software is being updated, up to 60-minute worth of energy management data and billing function data will not be recorded.

• When an AE-50/EW-50’s Pulse Input (PI) function is used, the pulse that is input while the software is being updated will not be counted.

• Record the operation status of the air conditioning units immediately before updating the software. After the update is complete, check the operation status and manually operate the units as necessary.

• Some operations and functions, such as scheduled operations, billing function, Peak Cut control, and energy management function, will be disabled during the update. Check the setting details of these functions beforehand and update when it does not affect them.

Yes, if certain functions are in use, you should avoid updating the AE-200/AE-50/EW-50 software during the time periods indicated in the table below.

To obtain the latest update file, contact the dealer from which the Update Tool was obtained.

Before installation, check that .NET Framework version 4.8 is installed. You can check this by selecting the Windows Start menu > [Control Panel] > [Program and Features].

Follow these procedures to install the tool:

1. Double-click “AE-200 UpdateTool_V***.msi” that was downloaded. “V***” indicates the version number.

2. If a “Security Warning” message appears, click [Run].

3. When the “Setup Wizard” screen appears, click [Next].

4. On the “License Agreement” screen, read through, select [I Agree], and click [Next].

5. The “Select Installation Folder” screen will appear. Select the save destination folder and click [Next]. To allow all users who can log in to the PC to have access to the Update Tool, check that the [Everyone] checkbox is selected.

6. When the “Confirm Installation” screen appears, click [Next].

7. The Update Tool will be installed. Please wait for the process to complete.

8. Once installation is complete, click [Close].

You must set the PC’s IP address so that settings data can be sent from the Update Tool to the controller. The PC’s network address must be in the same system as the IP address for the controller (Example: AE-200 IP address: 192.168.11.1; PC IP address: 192.168.11.150). If connecting to an existing LAN, consult the system administrator.

Follow these procedures:

1. Open the control panel. On Windows 8.1, go to Start screen > [Desktop] > [My computer] > [Control panel]. On Windows 10 or 11, search for the control panel using the search box.

2. Click [Network and Sharing Center] > [Change adapter settings]. Double-click the [Ethernet] icon.

3. In the “Ethernet status” window, click [Properties].

4. Click [Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)] to select it, and click [Properties].

5. In the [Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Properties] window, check the radio button next to [Use the following IP address].

6. Enter the PC’s IP address (e.g., [192.168.11.150]) in “IP address”.

7. Enter the subnet mask [255.255.255.0] (unless otherwise specified) in “Subnet mask”.

8. In “Default gateway”, enter the gateway address as necessary.

Important: Consult the system administrator to decide the IP, subnet mask, and gateway addresses. Take a note of the existing IP, subnet mask, and gateway addresses before changing them.

9. Keep clicking [OK] or [Close] to close all windows.

If .NET Framework 4.8 is not already installed, you must download the .NET Framework 4.8 installer and install it. If the system is not connected to the Internet, you will need to download the offline installer beforehand.

The usage process follows these steps:

1. Start the tool to view the Main screen.

2. Input the IP address of the centralized controller(s).

3. Click “Acquire data” to check the version of the centralized controller(s).

4. Select the update file.

5. Click “Update” and enter the ID and password on the authentication information input screen, then click “OK”.

6. The update process begins.

7. Confirm that the update has completed.

Note: Up to 50 centralized controllers can be updated at the same time.

The menu bar provides the following operations:

File Menu

• [1] Open TXT file: Click [File] > [Open] to load a TXT file containing the destination IP addresses.

• [2] Save TXT file: Click [File] > [Save] to save the IP addresses entered in the setting area to a TXT file on the PC.

• [3] Exit Update Tool: Click [File] > [Exit] to close the Update Tool.

Help Menu

• [4] Version information: Click [Help] > [About] to display the version of the current Update Tool.

There are two methods for inputting IP addresses:

Method 1: Inputting IP Addresses Directly

1. In the “Centralized controller to be updated” section, enter the IP address of each centralized controller in the “Destination IP address” column.

Important: Enter the IP address in one-byte characters in the format [XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX] (where XXX is an integer from 0 to 255). Do not enter any other characters, including tabs and spaces.

Method 2: Loading IP Addresses from a TXT file

1. Using a text editor like Notepad, create a TXT file. Enter one IP address per line.

Note: Up to 50 IP addresses can be loaded. A blank line will appear if only a line feed is inserted.

2. In the Update Tool, click [File] > [Open].

3. A file selection screen will appear. Select the TXT file you created and click [Open].

4. The IP addresses from the file will be loaded and displayed in the “Destination IP address” column.

Follow these steps to check the controller versions:

1. After inputting the IP addresses, click the [Acquire data] button.

2. The tool will communicate with each controller. Information including the model name, version, serial number, and a status message will appear for each IP address.

Important: Do not click the close button (X) at the top right corner of the main screen while data is being acquired.

1. In the “Update file selection” section, click the [Browse…] button next to the appropriate controller type (AE-200 or AE-50/EW-50).

2. A screen to select a file will appear. Select the update file and click [Open].

• Select “AE200_FW####_****.dat” for an AE-200 update file.

• Select “AE50_FW####_****.dat” for an AE-50/EW-50 update file.

3. If the update file exists, the file path and name will be displayed in the text box.

1. After inputting IP addresses, acquiring data, and selecting the update file(s), click the [Update] button.

2. The “Authentication information input” screen will appear. Enter the ID and password for the initial settings for the first centralized controller (No. 1).

3. For subsequent controllers (No. 2 and later), if the ID and password are the same as controller No. 1, check the checkbox next to [Same as No. 1]. Otherwise, enter the unique ID and password for each.

4. Click [OK] on the “Authentication information input” screen. The screen will close and the update will start for all listed controllers.

5. The update status for each controller will appear in the “Status” column of the main screen.

Important: Do not close the main screen, disconnect the LAN cable, or turn off power to the controllers during the update process.

The approximate time required for an update varies with the number of controllers and their software versions.

1. After entering the IP addresses in the main screen, click [File] > [Save].

2. A screen to select a file will appear. Specify an arbitrary name in “File name”, and click [Save].

3. A confirmation window will appear stating “The destination IP addresses have been saved.” Click OK.
