What are the two modes of operation for the ventilation hood?
Air extraction and recirculation mode.
How does the air extraction mode work?
The air is drawn in and cleaned by the grease filters and directed outside. The hood comes equipped with a non-return flap that automatically closes when the hood is turned off.
How does the recirculation mode work?
Air is drawn through the grease filters and an active charcoal filter. The filtered air is then recirculated back into the kitchen.
What is required for recirculation mode?
The recirculation mode requires an install kit and charcoal filter which are optional accessories.
What must be in place before using the hood in recirculation mode?
Ensure that the active charcoal filter is in place.
How is the ventilation system operated?
The ventilation system is operated by pulling out and pushing in the expandable fume deflector.
How do you turn the fan on?
Pull the fume deflector out. The fan turns on to Level 2.
How do you select the power level?
Press the “–” symbol to select a lower power level or the “+” symbol for a higher power level.
What is usually sufficient for normal cooking?
Levels 1 to 3 are usually sufficient for normal cooking, depending on the amount of cooking odors.
When should you use the Intensive Setting IS?
For short periods of cooking food with intensive vapors and a strong aroma, e.g., when searing meat.
What should you do when using the Intensive Setting IS?
Pull the fume deflector all the way out to achieve optimum extraction and to prevent unnecessary noise levels.
How do you turn the fan off?
Push the fume deflector back in or press the On/Off button.
How do you turn the lighting on?
Pull the fume deflector out or press the button for the overhead lighting.
How do you turn the lighting off?
Push the fume deflector back in or press the button for the overhead lighting.
How can the intensive power level be programmed to automatically switch back to level 3?
The fan and the overhead lighting must be turned off and the fume deflector pushed in. Press and hold the “–” and “+” buttons for approximately 10 seconds until power level indicator 1 lights up. Then press the following buttons one after another: overhead lighting, the “–” button, and overhead lighting again. If the indicators 1 and IS flash, the automatic switch back is not activated. To activate the automatic switch back, press the “+” button. The power level indicators 1 and IS light continuously. To deactivate, press the “–” button. Press the On/Off button to confirm. If the procedure is not stored within 4 minutes, the hood will automatically default to the “old” data.
What happens if the ventilation system is left on?
If the ventilation system is left on, the fan will turn off automatically 10 hours after the last button was activated. The lighting, however, will remain on.
How do you turn the fan back on after the automatic safety shut-off?
Press the On/Off button.
What should you do before cleaning or servicing the hood?
Disconnect it from the power supply.
What should you be cautious of when using halogen bulbs?
The halogen bulbs are very hot when in use and stay hot for some time after being turned off. Use caution, as there is a danger of burns.
What could happen if you wet clean the hot bulbs?
Wet cleaning the hot bulbs will cause damage.
How long should you wait after turning off the bulbs before cleaning them?
Wait a few minutes.
What types of cleaners should you never use on the hood?
Never use abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, steel wool, or caustic (oven) cleaners on the hood as they will damage the surface.
How should the external surfaces and controls be cleaned?
Clean with a mild solution of warm water and liquid dish soap applied with a soft sponge. Wipe dry using a soft cloth.
What should you avoid when cleaning the controls?
Do not use too much water, as water could penetrate the electronics and cause damage. Avoid cleaning agents containing soda, acids, or chlorides, as well as abrasive cleaning agents.
What should be followed in addition to the general cleaning instructions when cleaning stainless steel surfaces and stainless steel colored controls?
The following instructions for cleaning “Stainless steel” surfaces and “Stainless steel colored controls” should be followed in addition to the general “Cleaning the casing” instructions.
How should stainless steel surfaces be cleaned?
Stainless steel surfaces can be cleaned using a non-abrasive stainless steel cleaner. A conditioner for stainless steel can be applied to help prevent resoiling.
What should you avoid using on stainless steel colored controls?
Do not use a stainless steel cleaner on these controls.
What is the purpose of the grease filter?
The reusable metal grease filter removes solid particles from the vented kitchen air (grease, dust, etc.).
How often should the grease filter be cleaned?
The grease filter should be cleaned every 3 – 4 weeks.
What is a dirty filter considered to be?
A dirty filter is a fire hazard.
How do you remove the grease filter?
Hold and pull out the deflector and the grease filter together, then pull the grease filter downwards and out.
How do you clean the filter by hand?
Use a scrub brush with a solution of warm water and mild detergent. Do not use pure detergent, aggressive all-purpose cleaners, oven sprays, abrasive cleaning agents, or limescale removers as they could destroy the filter.
How do you clean the filter in a dishwasher?
Place the filter vertically in the lower basket, making sure that the spray arm is not blocked. Use a wash program with a max. temperature of 150°F (65°C). In a Miele dishwasher, use the “Normal” program. Use the recommended amount of dishwasher detergent. Overuse could destroy the filter.
What should be done after cleaning the filter?
The filter can be placed on a towel to air dry.
What should be cleaned while the filter is removed?
Clean any dirt or grease from the filter casing to prevent the risk of fire.
How do you insert the grease filter?
Make sure that the red plastic guides are at the front and facing up. Insert the grease filter in the deflector and push upwards. It should glide onto the fixing pins.
When should an active charcoal filter be used?
For recirculation mode, an active charcoal filter must be used in addition to the grease filter.
What is the purpose of the charcoal filter?
The charcoal filter is designed to absorb cooking odors.
How often should the charcoal filter be replaced?
Replace the filter every 6 months or when it is no longer absorbing cooking odors.

How should you dispose of the charcoal filter?
Dispose of the charcoal filter with the household waste.
What should you do before changing the light bulbs?
Disconnect the hood from the power supply.
What should you be cautious of when changing halogen bulbs?
Halogen bulbs become extremely hot when in use. Do not attempt to change the bulbs until they have had sufficient time to cool. Do not touch the bulb surface, as fingerprints or body oils deposited on the bulb will decrease its life.
What should you follow when changing the bulbs?
Follow the bulb manufacturer’s instructions.
How do you change the light bulbs?
Pull the deflector out and remove the grease filter. Remove the active charcoal filter, if present. Reach through the grille opening and push the light fixture downwards. Turn the bulb counterclockwise and pull it out of its socket. Replace the bulb with a new one (GU/GZ 10, 120V, 50W) in the reverse order and push upwards. Return the grease filter and if existent the active charcoal filter.
What should you do in the event of a fault that you cannot easily fix yourself?

How should you adjust measure T if the front panel should be installed recessed or flush with the cabinet door?
Adjust the measure T accordingly.
How do you cut the space bar?
Cut the supplied space bar to measure T. Clip it with a knife at the predetermined breaking point of the next lower measure.

How should the runners be aligned?
Align the runners with the drawn line and be sure that they are flush with the lower edge of the cabinet side wall.
How should you screw the runners?
Screw the runners on the left and right side in the cabinet.
How should the hood be positioned before installing it in the cabinet?
Lay the hood on its back side.
When should you remove the installation protector between the deflector and casing?
Do not remove the installation protector between the deflector and casing before the installation is completed.
How do you remove the grease filter?
Hold the grease filter and pull it out along with the deflector.
What do you do with the grease filter once it is removed?

- If flat ducting is used, the cross section must not be smaller than the cross section of the ventilation exhaust

- Where the ductwork is horizontal, it must slope away from the hood at least 1/8" per foot (1 cm per meter) to prevent condensation dripping into the appliance

A Telescopic Wall Vent can be used.
If the exhaust is ducted into an inactive flue, how must the air be expelled?
The air must be expelled parallel to the flow direction of the flue.
