After connecting the unit to a power supply, press the Power button located on the front panel to power on the unit. Press the button again to let the unit enter standby mode. Note that it takes about 30 seconds for the first start up after connecting to power supply each time.

You can set the output volume by turning the knob on the front panel. If the Lineout Mode is set to Fixed through the MA Remote App, the line output volume is not adjustable. To mute the device, press the knob. Press the knob again or turn the knob to unmute.

The front panel features two headphone jacks: a 6.35 mm headphone jack for single-ended headphones and a 4.4 mm headphone jack for balanced headphones.

The LCD screen provides display information and touch controls:

1. Media and audio information: Shows album art, track title, artist, duration, audio format, sampling rate, and filter type.

2. Input channel: Shows the name of the selected input channel.

3. Status: Shows the status of the clock, network connection, USB storage, NAS, and Async/Sync mode.

4. Output channel and volume: Shows the selected output channel and current volume level.

5. Touch gestures: Swipe right on the screen to open the shortcut page. Swipe left to open the main menu.

The rear panel of the MATRIX AUDIO ELEMENT M2 includes the following ports:

1. Analog output: RCA and XLR ports for connecting to active speakers or amplifiers.

2. Optical and Coaxial input: For S/PDIF signal outputs from front-end devices.

3. IIS-LVDS input: For digital interface products using HDMI cables. Compatible with 4 kinds of IIS-LVDS pin definitions via the MA Remote App.

4. HDMI ARC: For connecting to TVs with Audio Return Channel functionality.

5. USB audio input: Type B port for connecting to computers as an external audio device.

6. USB Type C: For connecting USB storage devices (requires no higher than 5V/1A power supply).

7. Ethernet: LAN port for network router connection, supporting up to Gigabit Ethernet.

8. Trigger input/output: 3.5 mm mono plug ports for linkage control between devices (12V DC signal).

9. AC input: Adapts to AC 100-120V and AC 220-240V power supplies automatically.

10. Reset button: Used only when the unit works incorrectly to reset to factory state.

Slide the battery holder in the direction of the arrow to open it. Install the batteries while paying close attention to the polarity indicated inside the holder.

There are two ways to connect the unit to a network:

1. LAN: Connect an Ethernet cable to the LAN port. It is recommended to use a router as a DHCP server so the unit is assigned an IP address automatically. Select LAN in the Network settings menu.

2. Wi-Fi: Go to Settings menu, select Network, then Wi-Fi. Choose your network SSID and enter the password. The device supports 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless networks.

When connecting to a Windows 7, 8, 10, or 11 computer via USB, follow these steps:

Step 1. Double-click the driver installation package and click Next.

Step 2. Select the installation path and click Install.

Step 3. Click Next once the installation is complete.

Step 4. Click Finish to close the Setup Wizard.

Note: No driver is needed for macOS; simply select the element Series as the audio output device in Sound Preferences.

The MATRIX AUDIO ELEMENT M2 supports a wide range of formats across different inputs:

1. Coaxial & Optical: PCM 16-24Bit/44.1kHz to 192kHz; DSD 2.8MHz (DoP).

2. IIS-LVDS: PCM 16-32Bit/44.1kHz to 768kHz; DSD 2.8MHz to 11.2MHz (DoP), DSD 2.8MHz to 22.4MHz (Native).

3. USB Audio: PCM 16-24Bit/44.1kHz to 768kHz; MQA 16-24Bit/44.1kHz to 384kHz; DSD 2.8MHz to 11.2MHz (DoP), DSD 2.8MHz to 22.4MHz (Native).

4. HDMI ARC: PCM 16-24Bit/44.1kHz to 192kHz.

5. Local Playback: MP3, WMA, WAV, AIF, AIFC, AIFF, AAC, FLAC, OGG, APE, ALAC, M4A, DSF, DFF, CUE. Support for PCM up to 768kHz and DSD up to 22.4MHz.

The MATRIX AUDIO ELEMENT M2 includes a full MQA decoder. The indicator dots represent the following:

Green or Blue dot: Indicates the unit is decoding and playing an MQA stream or file, ensuring the sound is identical to the source material.

Blue dot: Specifically indicates it is playing an MQA Studio file, which has been approved in the studio by the artist/producer or verified by the copyright owner.

Magenta dot: Indicates the unit is rendering an MQA stream or file, delivering the final unfold of the MQA file.

Power Voltage: AC 100V-120V 50/60Hz or AC 220V-240V 50/60Hz (Auto Range).

Observe the following precautions to ensure safe operation:

1. The product is for indoor use only.

2. Reserve more than 5 cm of space around the device for full ventilation.

3. Do not cover air vents with papers, tablecloths, or curtains.

4. Do not place items with flames, such as lighted candles, on the device.

5. If used in tropical areas, prevent insects from entering the unit through air vents.

6. Protect the device from water droplets or splashes; do not place liquid-filled containers like vases or cups on or near it.

7. Ensure the power cable includes an earth wire for safety.

8. Ensure the area around the power plug and AC socket is clear for easy disconnection if needed.
