The following icons are used to indicate the status and settings of the HOTWIRE HWGL1 thermostat:

It is essential that the clock and day are set accurately for programmed events to start on time. Follow these steps for the HOTWIRE HWGL1:

Step 1. Touch the Time button and the time will start flashing. Use the up and down arrows to set the time. Holding the arrow down will change the time faster.

Step 2. Press NEXT to move to the Day setting and use the up and down arrows to navigate to the correct day.

Step 3. Press DONE to store the settings and exit.

To set the HOTWIRE HWGL1 to come on and off automatically, follow these instructions:

Step 1. Press SCHDL and the day display will start flashing. Use the arrows to select the day you wish to programme, then press Next. If your thermostat is set to 5+2 day programmable mode, the programming will skip to step 3.

Step 2. To select every day to be the same, simply press All.

Step 3. Press NEXT until the first programme function icon is displayed. This represents the first heating period of the day.

Step 4. The time will flash. Select the time you want the heating to come on in the morning and press next.

Step 5. The temperature will flash. Set the desired floor temperature and press next.

Step 6. The screen will show programme 2 (the morning off time). The time will flash.

Step 7. Use the up and down arrows to adjust the time you wish the heating to switch off in the morning.

Step 8. Press NEXT and the temperature will flash. This can be used to maintain a minimum temperature (recommended setting is 5 degrees Celsius).

Step 9. Press NEXT and the afternoon on icon will display. Set the time you want the heating to come on in the afternoon or evening. Note: If you do not wish the heating to come on in the afternoon, set the off time to only a couple of minutes after the on time.

Step 10. Press NEXT and set the temperature required for the afternoon session.

Step 11. Press NEXT and the screen will show programme 4 (the afternoon/evening off time). Press NEXT and set the temperature (recommended setting is 5 degrees Celsius). Press DONE to finish.

Note: If using the 5+2 day programming mode, you will need to repeat these steps for the weekend days.

The HOTWIRE HWGL1 comes with the following factory default schedule:

Press the MODE button to select between Auto and Manual mode. In Manual mode (indicated by a hand icon), the HOTWIRE HWGL1 maintains a constant set temperature manually adjusted by the user with the arrow buttons. In Auto mode, the thermostat executes the preprogrammed schedules.

To lock the keypad on the HOTWIRE HWGL1, press and hold the power button for 5 seconds until a lock symbol appears. To unlock the keypad, repeat the process by holding the power button for 5 seconds until the lock symbol disappears.

To conduct a master reset to factory settings on the HOTWIRE HWGL1, follow these steps:

Step 1. Press the power button to turn the thermostat off.

Step 2. Press and hold the Menu button for 5 seconds.

Step 3. Navigate to Menu 17.

Step 4. Press and hold the down button for 5 seconds until “RES” appears on the screen.

The HOTWIRE HWGL1 should be installed by a qualified electrician. The installation steps are as follows:

Step 1. Carefully separate the front half of the thermostat from the back plate by unscrewing the small screw at the bottom. Unplug the ribbon connector.

Step 2. Screw the thermostat back plate onto the flush box.

Step 3. Terminate the wiring as follows:

Terminal 1: Power (Line) – FEED (230VAC)

Terminal 2: House Neutral – FEED (230VAC)

Terminal 3: Blue wire from the heating element – LOAD (16A)

Terminal 4: Brown wire from the heating element – LOAD (16A)

Terminals 5 and 6: Floor Sensor wires

Step 4. Connect the green wire from the element to the house earth.

Step 5. Re-connect the thermostat ribbon cable and clip the two halves together.

To enter the configuration menu, turn the thermostat off, press MENU to see Menu 01, use the arrows to adjust settings, press NEXT to move between menus, and press DONE to store. The options for the HOTWIRE HWGL1 include:
