What are the features of the Ministar?

The Ministar is a powerful but compact lighting effect which produces an attractive flower, cone or rainbow effect according to the model. The Ministar features:

250 W / 24 V EHJ lamp.

Beams produced from white or dichroic mirrors depending on the model.

Sound activated beam rotation.

Built-in microphone with automatic gain control (A.G.C.).

Effective fan cooling.

Adjustable mounting bracket.

Can be controlled in multiples by a lighting controller.

How do I install the Ministar?

Before operating the Ministar, you will need to install the lamp, select the correct voltage setting and mount a plug on the mains lead. Please do as follows:

IMPORTANT: Before attempting any of the following please ensure that the unit is disconnected from any mains power.

Remove the finger screw on the underside of the unit and withdraw the lamp-socket assembly.

Hold the lamp by the ceramic parts or hold in a clean cloth, taking care not to touch the glass, and then push the lamp firmly into the lamp-socket. If you do touch the glass part with your fingers you must clean it thoroughly with alcohol before use.

Replace the lamp-socket assembly and tighten the finger screw.

Locate the mains voltage selector on the rear panel of the Ministar, and set it to either 115 V or 230 V according to your local mains supply.

The Ministar may be delivered without a plug on the mains lead. You must mount a suitable plug (one that fits your local wall outlet) before you can connect the unit to the mains. The double isolated mains lead on the Ministar contains three wires. The brown wire should be connected to LIVE, the blue wire to NEUTRAL, and the Yellow/Green wire to EARTH (ground).

You can now install the Ministar in the desired position. The mounting bracket allows you to tilt the unit ± 60 degrees with respect to horizontal position. You can tilt in steps of 20 degrees.

How do I operate the Ministar?

Switch on power to the Ministar, and the light will turn on. Clap your hands, and you will see that the beams are rotating for a short period of time – the beam rotation is sound activated.

IMPORTANT: The motor in the Ministar is controlled via an electronic circuit. For this reason, you should not attempt to dim the Ministar by means of a dimmer pack or any similar equipment. Otherwise, damage might occur to the Ministar. However, it is legal to use the full on and full off levels on a dimmer pack as well as using a switch pack to remotely switch on and off the Ministar.
