What is the function of the MAJOR TECH DNS10 Day/Night Sensor?

The MAJOR TECH DNS10 Day/Night Sensor is designed to automatically activate lights at dusk and deactivate them at dawn. It is a practical solution for controlling lighting loads by ensuring they operate only at night. The sensor includes an adjustable lux knob to adjust light intensity. Examples of use for the MAJOR TECH DNS10 are street lights, office lights, warehouse and factory lights, and garden lights.

What are the specifications for the MAJOR TECH DNS10?

How do I install the MAJOR TECH DNS10?

To install the MAJOR TECH DNS10, please follow these steps:

• To install on a flat surface, connect the plastic bracket to the photocell’s main body.

• For pole mounting, a gland or conduit connector can be screwed into the base of the sensor.

• Ensure the DNS10 is installed above the light fitting it controls. Installing it below the light will cause the light to interfere with the sensor.

• Ensure power is switched off before beginning installation.

• Connect the wires as per the wiring diagram.

How should the MAJOR TECH DNS10 be wired?

Based on the wire connection diagram for the MAJOR TECH DNS10, the connections are as follows:

• The incoming power source (~220V) is connected to the terminals marked L (Live) and N (Neutral).

• The load (lamp) is connected between the terminal marked A (switched output) and the terminal marked N (Neutral). The Neutral is common to both the sensor’s input power and the load.

How can I test the MAJOR TECH DNS10 after installation?

To test the MAJOR TECH DNS10, follow these steps:

• Switch the power on.

• Place the enclosed black plastic bag from the packing over the opaque (white) cover of the sensor.

• With the bag covering the photocell, darkness is simulated, and the lamp should automatically turn on.

• When the bag is removed from the opaque cover, the sensor will detect light and automatically turn the lamp off.

What are the operational considerations for the MAJOR TECH DNS10?

For the MAJOR TECH DNS10 to operate correctly, please note the following:

• In order for natural light to control the photocell, there should be no obstruction in front of the opaque (white) cover.

• No moving or swaying objects must be in front of the photocell.

• There is no minimum load requirement when linking devices to the sensor. However, it is crucial to ensure that the load of the devices being connected is below the suggested specifications (10A). Exceeding the specified specifications may result in damage to the sensor.

How do I adjust the light sensitivity on the MAJOR TECH DNS10?

The on and off light levels for the MAJOR TECH DNS10 can be set with the adjustable LUX knob, which adjusts the light intensity at which the photocell will operate.

• When you turn the LUX knob clockwise to the (-) position, the LUX level is set to less than 5LUX. This means the light will only turn on in very dark conditions.

• When you turn the LUX knob anticlockwise to the (+) position, the LUX level is set to a maximum of 50LUX. This means the light will turn on earlier in the evening when it is still relatively light.
