Please follow these general safety instructions when using your CLATRONIC EKA 3338:

• Use the appliance exclusively for private use and for its intended purpose. This appliance is not intended for commercial use.

• Do not use the appliance outdoors. Keep it away from heat, direct sunlight, moisture (never immerse it in liquids), and sharp edges.

• Do not use the appliance with wet hands. If the appliance becomes damp or wet, unplug it immediately.

• Always switch off the appliance and unplug it from the socket (pull the plug, not the cord) when you are not using it, attaching accessories, cleaning it, or if a malfunction occurs.

• Do not operate the appliance without supervision. If you leave the room, you should always turn the appliance off. Unplug it from the socket.

• The appliance and the power cord must be checked regularly for signs of damage. If damage is found, the appliance must not be used.

• Do not repair the appliance yourself. Always contact an authorized specialist. To avoid hazards, a faulty power cord should only be replaced with an equivalent cable by the manufacturer, our customer service, or a similarly qualified person.

• Use only original accessories.

• To ensure your children’s safety, keep all packaging (plastic bags, boxes, polystyrene, etc.) out of their reach. Do not let small children play with the foil due to the risk of suffocation.

Please adhere to these special safety instructions for the CLATRONIC EKA 3338:

• Place the appliance on a level surface. Ensure that the power cord and the appliance are never placed on hot surfaces or near sources of heat.

• Route the power cord in such a way that it does not come into contact with sharp-edged objects.

• Never use the appliance without liquid content.

• Do not fill the appliance completely to the brim when boiling (max. 20 liters).

• Only operate the appliance with the lid on.

• **Warning:** The surfaces of the housing become hot during operation. There is a risk of burns!

• **Warning:** Hot steam will be released when opening the lid! There is a risk of scalding!

• Do not carry or lift the appliance during operation. First, switch it off and then unplug it. Always carry the appliance with both hands.

• Allow the appliance to cool down completely before cleaning and storing it.

• Use the appliance only for preserving food or heating beverages, never for other purposes. No liability can be assumed for any damage resulting from improper use or incorrect operation.

Before the first use, remove all packaging from the CLATRONIC EKA 3338. We recommend cleaning the appliance as described in the “Cleaning” section.

Place the CLATRONIC EKA 3338 near a power socket. Ensure it is on a level, dry, non-slip, and heat-resistant surface with sufficient distance from walls or furniture. Completely unwind the required power cord from the appliance base.

For best results with your CLATRONIC EKA 3338, remember that cleanliness during preparation is paramount for shelf life. Always use good quality, fresh, and ripe fruits and vegetables.

To prepare for canning:

Preparing the Food:

• Wash fruit and vegetables whole and let them drain well. Green beans and peas have a longer shelf life if they are blanched before canning.

Preparing Jars and Lids:

• Clean the jars, lids, and seals with hot soapy water, rinse them with clear water, and let everything drain on a clean cloth.

• Check the jars for any remaining residue and for damage.

• Leave the seals in clear water until ready for use. Do not use porous, damaged, or overstretched rubber rings.

• Fill the jars up to 2 cm below the rim. For puree-like foods (e.g., apple sauce), leave 3-4 cm of space to the rim. For all types of sausage, fill the jars only 3/4 full.

• Seal the jars tightly with screw lids, tension seals, or clamps.

• When placing the jars in the canner, ensure that the water and jar temperatures are approximately the same to prevent glass breakage.

Follow these steps to can with your CLATRONIC EKA 3338:

1. Fill the pot with at least 6 liters of water.

2. Place the prepared jars on the insert rack inside the pot. Do not place a cloth between the bottom of the pot and the insert rack.

3. Place the lid on the unit.

4. Plug the appliance into a properly installed 230V, 50Hz safety socket.

5. Select the temperature according to the canning chart. The control light will illuminate, and the unit will begin to heat up.

The canning time begins only after the control light goes out for the first time. The heating up time does not count towards the canning time.

After canning is complete, do not place cold jars in hot water; pre-warm them first to avoid glass breakage. After the canning process:

• Carefully remove the jars, as they will be hot. Place them on a cloth and cover them with another cloth.

• Leave the clamps on the jars until they have completely cooled down.

• It is recommended to label the jars with the date and contents after cooling.

• Store the preserved food in a cool, dry, and dark place.

The CLATRONIC EKA 3338 is equipped with a practical spout for dispensing thin liquids (e.g., mulled wine). To heat beverages:

• Remove the insert rack before filling with beverages.

• Fill the pot with a maximum of 20 liters of liquid.

• Set the thermostat to the desired temperature. The control light will come on, and the appliance will start heating.

• When the desired temperature is reached, the control light will go out.

To end operation:

• Once the cooking process is complete, turn the thermostat to the OFF position.

• Unplug the power cord from the socket.

• Allow the appliance to cool down and then empty the pot using the spout.

• The power cord can be wound up on the base of the appliance for storage.

To clean your CLATRONIC EKA 3338:

• **Warning:** Always switch off the appliance and unplug it before cleaning. Wait until the appliance has completely cooled down.

• **Warning:** Never immerse the appliance in water for cleaning. This could lead to an electric shock or fire.

• **Caution:** Do not use a wire brush or any other abrasive items. Do not use any harsh or abrasive cleaning agents.

• A damp cloth is sufficient to clean the appliance and the lid after use as a canner.

• If you have heated drinks in the pot, clean it with water and a little washing-up liquid. Then rinse with clear water and wipe everything dry.

The frequency of descaling depends on the hardness of your water and how often you use the appliance. Use a commercial descaling agent based on citric acid and follow the instructions provided with the agent.

• Remove the insert rack during the descaling process.

• After descaling, boil fresh water several times to remove any residue. Do not use this water for consumption.
