When using your MAGIC CHEF MCSTCW16S4 appliance, follow these safety precautions:

1. Read all instructions before using this product.

2. This appliance is for household use only. DO NOT use this appliance for other than its intended purpose.

3. The appliance is intended for indoor use only. DO NOT use outdoors.

4. DO NOT put anything flammable or explosive in, on, or near the appliance. DO NOT wash articles of clothing or items that have been soaked in flammable or explosive chemicals.

5. WARNING: Risk of child entrapment. DO NOT allow children to play on or in the appliance. Before the appliance is removed from service or discarded, remove the lid.

6. DO NOT put children on top of, or allow children to climb in or on, the washer.

7. ALWAYS wait for the washer tub to completely stop moving before reaching in to add or remove any clothes.

8. DO NOT install or store this appliance where it will be exposed to the weather or freezing temperatures.

10. DO NOT modify or repair the unit by yourself. Contact customer service if required.

11. If a hot water system has not been used for two weeks or more, hydrogen gas may be produced. Turn on all hot water faucets and let water flow for several minutes before using your washer to release the gas.

12. This washer is not designed for maritime use or for mobile installations such as in RVs or aircraft.

13. Turn off the water supply and unplug the washer if it will be left for an extended period.

14. Keep all packaging materials away from children.

15. ALWAYS check the inside of the washer for foreign objects before loading laundry. Keep the lid closed when not in use.

16. The appliance must be plugged into a properly installed and grounded outlet that meets the voltage requirements on the ratings label.

17. To reduce the risk of electric shock or fire, DO NOT use an extension cord or outlet adapters.

18. This appliance must be properly installed in accordance with the installation instructions before use.

19. Regularly clean the power plug to remove dust and dirt.

20. CAUTION: The power cord has a 3-prong grounding plug. ALWAYS plug it into a properly grounded 3-prong wall receptacle and DO NOT remove the grounding prong.

21. DO NOT operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug.

22. DO NOT unplug your appliance by pulling on its power cord. Grasp the plug firmly.

23. DO NOT operate the washer by unplugging or plugging in the washer while it is in operation.

25. It is recommended to have two or more people move and install the washer.

26. If the appliance is flooded, cut the power immediately and contact your nearest service center.

Follow these steps for initial setup:

1. Remove the packing box, foam, and bottom cardboard piece.

2. Open the washer door and remove all the accessories from the drum.

3. DO NOT use the washer on the foam packaging base.

4. Carefully lay the machine down.

5. Slide the noise-proof plate (Bottom Cover) into place over the opening in the bottom and attach it with the mounting screw.

6. The washer should be installed on a stable surface close enough to the water supply, drain, and electrical outlet to ensure that the hoses and power cord reach.

The washer must be leveled before use. You can check if it’s level by checking the tub’s position or using a bubble level.

1. Slide the washer into position.

2. Open the lid of the washer and pour water into the tub to just below the pulsator level.

3. If the washer is level, the pulsator will be positioned at the center of the washer. If not, level your washer by turning the front leveling foot clockwise or counterclockwise as necessary. The MAGIC CHEF MCSTCW16S4 has only one adjustable leg.

To correctly fill your washer, water pressure of 14-70 p.s.i. is required, and the faucet must be within 4 feet of the water inlets.

Using the Quick Connection Adaptor (for single faucets like a kitchen sink):

1. Pull back on the white ring to free the faucet fitting from the adaptor.

2. Screw the end of the cold water hose onto the base of the hose fitting.

3. If the faucet has internal screw threads, unscrew the aerator. Then screw the faucet fitting into the faucet, ensuring the black rubber gasket is on top.

4. If the faucet has external screw threads, remove the gasket from the top of the faucet fitting and screw the fitting over the external threads.

5. Pull back on the white ring to connect the two parts of the adaptor back together.

Connecting to Separate Hot and Cold Faucets:

1. Connect the ends of the water supply hoses to the HOT and COLD faucets. For convenience, you can use the Quick Connection Adaptor for the cold water faucet.

2. Tighten the fittings by hand until snug, then tighten an additional two-thirds of a turn with a wrench. DO NOT over-tighten.

3. Run water through the hoses for 10-15 seconds into a bucket or sink to clear any debris.

4. Connect the ends of the water supply hoses to the corresponding HOT and COLD water supply intakes on the back of the washer.

5. Tighten the fittings by hand until snug, then an additional two-thirds of a turn with a wrench. Turn on the water and check for leaks.

Note: To ensure correct water usage, connect both HOT and COLD water faucets. If you only connect one, an error code can occur. If you do not want to use the HOT water supply hose, install the water intake cap into the HOT water supply intake hole and select Cold water for the wash temperature.

Position the other end of the drain hose in one of three ways. The recommended height is 35 inches, and it should be no higher than 39 inches. The washer should be located within 5 feet of the drain.

a. Over the edge of a sink: Secure the guide to the side of the basin wall with a hook or to the tap with a string or zip tie to prevent the hose from moving.

b. In a standpipe: The standpipe must be 32 to 39 inches long. The diameter of the pipe must be large enough to easily accept the drain hose.

c. In a laundry tub: The laundry tub must be 32 to 39 inches high.

Note: The connection between the drain hose and the sink, pipe, or tub should not be airtight.

1. Plug in the washer.

2. Load about 5 lbs. of laundry.

3. Press the “Power” button to turn on the washer.

4. Select the “Rinse & Spin” cycle by pressing the “Function” button until the indicator lights for “Rinse” and “Spin” are on, then press the “Start/Pause” button.

5. The washer should not rock or vibrate excessively, and should drain well. If water leaks, check the connections. If it rocks or vibrates, re-level the washer.

• ON/OFF: Press once to turn the power ON. Press again to turn OFF.

• START/PAUSE: Press to start the wash cycle. Press during operation to pause, and again to continue.

• Digital Display: Shows the estimated minutes remaining in the cycle. If Delay Start is set, it counts down the hours first.

• Function: Selects the cycle steps (Soak, Wash, Rinse, Spin). Normally, all are selected.

• Delay: Sets a delayed start time for the washer.

• Load Size: Sets the washing load size (Small, Medium, Large), which determines the water level.

• Temp.: Selects the water temperature for washing (Cold, Warm, or Hot).

• Program: Selects the desired wash program (Normal, Heavy, Delicate, Quick, Bulky, Spin Only).

• Extra Rinse: Adds an additional Rinse Cycle.

• Control Lock: Press and hold the “Temp.” and “Program” buttons simultaneously to lock the control panel.

1. TURN ON THE WASHER: Press the “ON/OFF” button.

2. LOAD THE WASHER: Sort laundry and place it in the washer. DO NOT load the tub more than 3/4 full. Remove all objects from pockets.

3. ADD DETERGENT: This washer is for high efficiency (HE) detergent. Pull out the detergent compartment and add the recommended amount. The normal amount is 1/4 to 1/2 of the detergent manufacturer’s maximum recommendation. NEVER pour liquid bleach directly onto the load.

4. SELECT WASH CYCLE: Press the “Program” button to select the desired program (e.g., Normal, Heavy).

5. SELECT LOAD SIZE: Press the “Load Size” button to select Small, Medium, or Large.

6. SELECT FUNCTIONS: Press the “Function” button to choose which parts of the cycle to run (Soak, Wash, Rinse, Spin).

7. SELECT WATER TEMPERATURE: Press the “Temp.” button to select Hot, Warm, or Cold.

8. START THE CYCLE: Press the “Start/Pause” button to begin. The washer will shut off if not started within ten minutes.

The Delay Start function allows you to delay the wash cycle from 1-24 hours.

1. Press the ON/OFF button to turn the washer ON.

2. Properly hang the drain hose and turn on the water tap.

3. Load the laundry and detergent in the washer.

4. Select the appropriate water level, program, and functions.

5. Press the “Delay” button to set the number of hours (in 1-hour increments) to delay the start of the wash cycle.

6. Close the lid and press the Start/Pause button.

Once activated, the Delay indicator light will flash. To cancel the Delay setting, press the ON/OFF button. If you want to cancel after it has started, power the unit off and reset all functions.

Press and hold the “Temp.” and “Program” buttons simultaneously to activate the Control Lock function. The digital display will show “CL”. When activated, no buttons will function except for POWER and the ability to deactivate the lock by pressing and holding the same two buttons again. This function is useful to prevent children from changing the washer’s settings.

Notes:

• “Normal” is the most suitable program for soiled cotton or linen clothes and is the most efficient in terms of combined energy and water consumption.

• The Normal cycle on Large load size with cold water has a much longer spin time (44 minutes) to remove more water, saving energy during drying.

• Hot and warm water temperatures are the same when using Normal. For a higher temperature wash, use a different program.

Cleaning the Exterior:

Use a soft cloth to wipe off any water and dirt from the surface after every use. Do not use detergents, propellants, or other chemicals, as they can damage the finish. DO NOT spray the washer with water.

Cleaning the Interior:

Clean the interior periodically to remove dirt, soil, odor, mold, or mildew. To clean the tub, run the Quick cycle with some bleach once every month. Use cleaners labeled “Washer safe” to remove hard water deposits if needed.

1. LINT FILTER: This built-in filter collects lint during the wash cycle. It is suggested to clean the lint filter every 10 cycles or as needed. To clean, remove the filter from inside the washer tub, clean it with water, and then place it back into the washer.

2. PUMP FILTER: This filter protects the pump. It is suggested to clean it every 10 cycles or as needed. To clean it, remove the filter from the bottom rear of the washer, clean it with water, and then place it back into the washer.

• E1: It is taking over 30 minutes to fill with water but the preset water level has not been achieved. Check for issues under “Washer Not Filling Properly” or for water leakage.

• E2: It is taking over 10 minutes to drain water, but the washer is not empty. Check for issues under “Washer Will Not Drain Water”.

• E3: The top lid is open. Close the lid.

• E4: The washer is unbalanced. Redistribute the load.

• Other: Turn off the washer and unplug it, then plug it back in and restart. If the error persists, contact customer service.

Thumping Sound:

• Heavy wash loads may produce a thumping sound. This is normal. If the sound continues, the washer is probably out of balance.

• The washer load may be out of balance. Pause the cycle and redistribute the load.

Vibrating Noise:

• Packaging materials were not removed. Make sure all packing materials have been removed.

• The load may be unevenly distributed in the tub. Pause the cycle and redistribute the load.

• Not all leveling feet are resting firmly on the floor. See “Leveling the Washer” in the Installation Instructions.

• The floor is not rigid enough. Make sure the floor is solid and does not flex.

This is caused by using too much or the incorrect type of detergent. Only use High-Efficiency (HE) detergents. HE detergents are formulated specifically for high-efficiency washers and contain suds-reducing agents. Only use detergent with the HE logo.

• Water inlet hose connection is loose at the faucet or washer: Check hoses for leaks, cracks, and splits. Check and tighten hose connections.

• House drain pipes are clogged: Check for water backing up out of the drain pipe. If water is seen coming out, check for proper drain hose installation and restrictions. Contact a plumber if necessary.

• Drain hose has come out of the drain or is not inserted far enough: Tie the drain hose to the inlet hose or standpipe to prevent it from coming out. For smaller pipes, insert the hose as far as the flange. For larger pipes, insert it 1-2 inches past the flange.

• A large item in the washer is above the top of the tub: Pause the cycle and check the load to ensure nothing is above the top edge of the tub.

• Detergent is producing too many suds: This can cause leaks. Use only HE detergent and ensure you use the correct amount (1/4 to 1/2 of the maximum recommended by the manufacturer). Reduce the amount for small or lightly soiled loads, or if you have soft water.

• Water supply is turned off: Turn both hot and cold faucets fully on.

• Control panel has powered off due to inactivity: This is normal. Press the POWER button to turn the washer on.

• Washer is unplugged: Make sure the cord is plugged securely into a working outlet.

• Controls are not set properly: Make sure the cycle was set correctly, close the lid, and press the START/PAUSE button.

• Lid is open: The washer will not operate if the lid is open. Close the lid and make sure nothing is caught under it.

• Circuit breaker/fuse is tripped/blown: Check house circuit breakers/fuses. The washer should be on a dedicated branch circuit. It will resume the cycle where it stopped once power is restored.

• Controls need to be reset: Press the POWER button, then re-select the desired cycle and press the START/PAUSE button.

• START/PAUSE was not pressed after a cycle was set: Press the START/PAUSE button. The washer will shut off if it’s not pressed within ten minutes.

• Extremely low water pressure: Check another faucet in the house to ensure household water pressure is adequate.

• Washer is too cold: If exposed to freezing temperatures, allow it to warm up before pressing the POWER button.

• Washer is running under a Delay Start program: This is normal. It will start automatically after the delay time is over.

• Filter clogged: Disassemble the water inlet hose and clean the inlet point.

• Inlet hoses may be kinked: Check that inlet hoses are not kinked or clogged.

• Insufficient water supply: Make sure that both hot and cold water faucets are turned on all the way.

• The washer lid is open: The washer will not operate if the lid is open. Close the lid completely.

• Hot and cold inlet hoses are reversed: Check inlet hose connections. Make sure the hot water supply is connected to the hot inlet valve, and the cold water supply is connected to the cold inlet valve.

• Water level is too low: This is a high-efficiency washer. The water will not normally cover the clothes. The fill level is optimized for the best wash performance.

• Water inlet valve damaged: Contact customer service for assistance.

• Kinked drain hose: Make sure that the drain hose is not kinked.

• Drain located higher than 39 in. above the floor: Make sure the drain hose is no higher than 39″ above the bottom of the washer and no more than 5 ft. away.
