How do I properly install my MAGIC CHEF HMDR1000BE?
To properly install your MAGIC CHEF HMDR1000BE, please follow these guidelines:
• This appliance is designed to be free-standing only and should not be recessed or built-in.
• Place your refrigerator on a floor that is strong enough to support it when fully loaded.
• Allow 5 inches of space between the back and sides of the refrigerator for proper air ventilation. Adjust the feet to keep the refrigerator level.
• Locate the refrigerator away from direct sunlight and sources of heat (stove, heater, radiator, etc.). Ambient temperature below 50°F (10°C) or above 85°F (29.4°C) will hinder the performance of this appliance. This unit is not designed for use in a garage or any other outside installation.
• Avoid locating the refrigerator in moist areas.
• Plug the refrigerator into a dedicated, properly installed-grounded wall outlet. This unit is not designed to be installed in an RV or used with an inverter.
• After plugging the appliance into a wall outlet, turn the unit on and allow it to cool down for 2-3 hours before placing food in the refrigerator or freezer compartment.
What are the electrical requirements for the MAGIC CHEF HMDR1000BE?
Your MAGIC CHEF HMDR1000BE should be properly grounded for your safety. Improper use of the grounded plug can result in the risk of electrical shock. If the power cord is damaged, have it replaced by an authorized service center.
The power cord is equipped with a three-prong plug that mates with standard three-prong wall outlets to minimize the possibility of electrical shock. Do not, under any circumstances, cut or remove the third ground prong from the power cord supplied.
This refrigerator requires a standard 115 Volt A.C. ~/60Hz electrical outlet with a three-prong ground. It is not designed to be used with an inverter.
The cord should be secured behind the refrigerator and not left exposed or dangling to prevent accidental injury. Never unplug the refrigerator by pulling the power cord; always grip the plug firmly and pull straight out from the receptacle.
Do not use an extension cord with this appliance. If the power cord is too short, have a qualified electrician or service technician install an outlet near the appliance. The use of an extension cord can negatively affect the unit’s performance.
How do I operate the temperature controls on my MAGIC CHEF HMDR1000BE?
Your MAGIC CHEF HMDR1000BE has two temperature controls:
Refrigerator Temperature Control:
This is a panel located on the top of the refrigerator compartment with settings for OFF, COLD, COLDER, COLDEST, and RECOMMENDED. The SET button cycles through these settings. Holding the SET button for 3 seconds will turn off all cooling functions but not the power to the unit.
Freezer Control:
This is a control knob in the freezer with settings for COLD, COLDER, COLDEST, and RECOMMENDED. This knob adjusts the distribution of cold air between the freezer and refrigerator compartments.
Setting the Temperature Control:
• The refrigerator temperature control panel controls the actual cooling cycle, while the freezer control knob adjusts the cold air distribution.
• When you first turn the unit on, adjust the freezer control knob to “COLDEST” and the refrigerator temperature control to “COLDEST”. Let it run for at least 4 hours before placing food inside. Then, return both selectors to “Recommended” or “COLDER”.
• Adjust the controls to the setting that best suits your needs. The “Recommended” setting in the refrigerator and “COLDER” setting in the freezer should be appropriate for normal home or office use, as it distributes cold air equally.
• To direct more cold air to the freezer (e.g., after adding a large amount of food), move the freezer controller to the “COLDEST” position until the desired temperature is reached, then return it to “Recommended”.
• To direct more cold air to the refrigerator section (e.g., to cool down fresh food quickly), move the freezer controller to the “COLD” position until the desired temperature is reached, then return it to “Recommended”.
What should I know about power interruptions and operating temperatures for my MAGIC CHEF HMDR1000BE?
Please note the following for your MAGIC CHEF HMDR1000BE:
• If the unit is unplugged, has lost power, or is turned off, you must wait 3 to 5 minutes before restarting the unit. If you attempt to restart before this time delay, the refrigerator-freezer will not start.
• Installation is not recommended where the temperature will drop below 50°F (13°C) or rise above 110°F (43°C). The compressor will not be able to maintain proper temperatures inside the refrigerator under these conditions.
• For installations where the temperatures will drop below 50°F, set the freezer temperature control to the “coldest” setting. This will improve the operations of the refrigerator under these conditions.
What are the guidelines for freezing fresh foods in the MAGIC CHEF HMDR1000BE?
Proper use of the appliance, adequately packed food, correct temperature, and hygienic precautions will influence the quality of freezing and storing foods. The freezer compartment is designed for long-term storage of frozen food.
• The storage life of frozen foods varies and the recommended storage time should not be exceeded.
• Pre-packed commercially frozen food should be stored according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
• Place frozen food into the freezer as quickly as possible after purchase. Follow instructions on the packet regarding storage times.
• Carefully select food you intend to freeze; it should be of adequate quality and suitable for freezing.
• Use correct packaging and wrap it tightly. The packaging should be airtight and should not leak to avoid vitamin loss and dehydration.
• Foils and bags should be soft enough to tightly wrap around the foods.
• When preparing foods to be frozen, consider sanitary precautions.
• Mark packages with the kind and amount of food and the date of loading.
• It is extremely important that the food is frozen as quickly as possible.
• If the loading amount is too large, the quality of freezing is reduced, which affects the quality of the frozen foods.
