What are the steps to install the LIEBHERR WU 4500 into my cabinetry?
Follow these steps to correctly install the appliance:
1. Open the door and remove the top left cover on the appliance body.
2. Apply the supplied cover strips to the leading edge of the appliance housing on both the left and right sides. Ensure the bottom of the strip is in line with the bottom edge of the housing.
3. Adjust the height of the appliance by turning the adjustable feet with the supplied wrench. Leave a gap of approximately 1/8″ between the appliance top (or top cover panel, if installed) and the underside of the countertop.
4. Carefully slide the appliance into the opening until the front surface of the appliance door is flush with the cabinet fronts. Be careful not to damage the power cord while sliding it in.
5. Screw the appliance to the cabinet body at the top left-hand side using a 4 x 29 screw. Click the cover back into place.
6. Screw the appliance to the cabinet body at the bottom on both the left and right sides using two 4 x 29 screws.
7. Insert the foam block approximately 1/2″ into the opening in the appliance base. It is important that the foam block is installed for optimal performance.
8. Insert the supplied ventilation grille into the cut-out in your toe kick panel.
9. Fit the toe kick panel into place. As you do this, the foam block will be pushed backward into its final position. The foam block must be touching the ventilation grille.
Important: The appliance must be aligned horizontally and vertically. If it is not level, the main body can become deformed and the door will not close properly.
How can I change the door hinges to the other side on my LIEBHERR WU 4500?
Changing the door hinges should only be done by a trained expert and requires two people.
1. Remove the screw from the top hinge.
2. Remove the screw from the bottom hinge.
3. Have another person hold the door securely. Pull out the bottom hinge pin.
4. Remove the upper hinge pin.
5. Move the door towards the appliance until the pin in the hinge bracket is visible, then remove the door.
6. Remove the cover from the top of the door.
7. Unscrew and remove the door latch.
8. On the door, compress the two long covers on the top and bottom edges, release them, turn them 180°, and click them into place on the opposite side.
9. Click the small cover (from step 6) into place on the now-exposed side of the door.
10. Screw the door latch (from step 7) onto the opposite side.
11. Transfer the door handle and plugs to the opposite side of the door.
12. On the appliance body, remove the hinge covers from the top and bottom.
13. Unscrew and remove the upper hinge bracket (from the top right). This will be refitted on the left at the bottom.
14. Unscrew and remove the lower hinge bracket (from the bottom right). This will be refitted on the left at the top.
15. Remove the upper retaining bracket from the right side and transfer it to the opposite (left) side.
16. Remove the lower retaining bracket from the right side and transfer it to the opposite (left) side.
17. Screw the hinge bracket from the bottom right (step 14) into the top left position.
18. Screw the hinge bracket from the top right (step 13) into the bottom left position.
19. Have the other person help you fit the door onto the newly positioned hinge brackets.
20. With the door open to 90°, insert the top hinge pin. The flat part of the pin should face the appliance. The pin must be fully inserted and not protrude.
21. Insert the bottom hinge pin in the same way.
22. Secure the hinges by screwing in the screws at the top and bottom.
23. Close the door and check that it is aligned with the side walls of the appliance.
24. If the door is at an angle, adjust the lateral tilt. Undo the screws on the hinge brackets slightly, slide the bracket to the right or left to align the door, and then tighten the screws.
25. Fit the covers (from step 12) over the hinges.
