When installing the LIEBHERR HC 1541, you should always wear protective devices such as protective gloves and eye shields. It is also recommended to use hearing protection when drilling holes into concrete floors.

Area Requirements:

Before installing your LIEBHERR HC 1541, verify the following:

• Floors can support the appliance’s weight plus approximately 1200 pounds (544 kg) of food weight.

• The finished kitchen floor height is level. The appliance must be shimmed level if the floor heights are not equal to ensure air vents are not obstructed.

• Remove anything attached to rear or side walls that can obstruct the appliance opening.

• The cutout dimensions are accurate.

• The electrical outlet is in the correct location.

Electrical Requirements:

• Make sure the incoming voltage is the same as the unit rating.

• To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or personal injury, installation work and electrical wiring must be done by a qualified electrician in accordance with all applicable codes and standards, including fire-rated construction.

• A 115 Volt, 60 Hz, 15 Amp fused electrical supply is required. It is recommended to use a dedicated circuit for this appliance to prevent electrical overload. Follow the National Electrical Code and local codes when installing the receptacle.

• If codes require a separate grounding circuit, have a qualified electrician install it.

• This appliance is equipped with a three-prong (grounding) polarized plug. Do not remove the round grounding prong, do not use a two-prong adapter, and do not use an extension cord.

To protect the LIEBHERR HC 1541 from possible damage, allow the appliance to stand for 1/2 to 1 hour in place before turning the electricity on. This allows the refrigerant and system lubrication to reach equilibrium.

For the LIEBHERR HC 1541, please allow for door swing clearance at locations next to a wall. The illustrated measurement of 12-1/2″ (317 mm) is without mounted front panels. Be sure to add your panel thickness and handle depth to this measurement to avoid interferences.

The LIEBHERR HC 1541 does not require any ventilation openings in the cabinet. The required air flow is directed through the toe kick area.

• Only use the ventilation grille provided with the appliance, as it is required for proper operation.

• This opening must not be covered with a cabinet base.

• Do not restrict the air flow. Air flow must be provided for the unit to operate.

• Failure to use the supplied grille can result in product failure and will void the warranty.

The cabinet opening dimensions for the LIEBHERR HC 1541 depend on the installation style.

For an appliance with the panel to be flush, the adjacent cabinetry depth must equal the appliance depth (24″) plus the panel thickness (5/8″ – 3/4″).

Electrical Outlet: The location of the electrical outlet can be within a radius of 80 inches from the appliance top center. IMPORTANT: Do not install the electrical outlet behind the appliance.

Water Supply (HCB 1560/1561 models): The water line can be fed in from the left or right, above the anti-tipping bracket. The water line lead-through is at the bottom right of the appliance. IMPORTANT: Do not install the shut-off valve behind the appliance.

Panel dimensions for the LIEBHERR HC 1541 vary based on the installation style and cabinet opening height.

Panel Requirements:

• The panels should be at least 5/8 inch (16 mm) thick.

• The maximum panel thickness is 3/4″ (19 mm).

• The door panel weight must not exceed 60 lb (27 kg).

The anti-tipping bracket must be mounted to prevent the appliance from tipping when the fully stocked door is opened.

WARNING: Be sure that there is no plumbing or electrical wiring located in this area which screws or drills could damage.

1. Mark the center line of the appliance on the back wall. Align the anti-tipping bracket center to this line.

2. The anti-tipping bracket must be fitted at the same height as the toe kick area. If you set the appliance to a higher level by laying spacers underneath, the anti-tipping bracket must be fitted accordingly.

3. Depending on the floor and wall material, use one of the following mounting options:

• Concrete Walls (Figure 8): Mount the bracket with wall plugs and 6 x 63 mm screws.

• Angled Wall Plate (Figure 9): Mount with the wall plate turning in the screws at an angle, using 6 x 63 mm screws.

• Wooden Floors (Figure 10): Mount with 6 x 63 mm screws.

• Concrete Floors (Figure 11): Mount using the provided anchors.

If the floor slopes down sideways, the anti-tipping bracket must be fitted horizontally. Use spacers in the appropriate positions.

Proper function of the anti-tipping bracket is warranted for a cabinet depth between 24″ and 25″. If the cabinet is deeper than 25″, a wooden spacer must be mounted between the appliance and the wall.

WARNING: Be sure the wooden spacer is fastened securely to the floor.

The depth of the spacer depends on the clearance between the appliance and the wall.

Apply cover strips above, between, and below the securing plates on the side walls of the appliance.

1. Cut the cover strips to the required lengths as shown in the installation diagrams.

2. Fit the adhesive cover strips, leaving a gap of 1/4″ to each securing plate. This ensures problem-free fitting of the covers.

This information is for models HCB 1560/1561. Models HC 1540/1541 have a water tank inside the refrigerator to supply the icemaker.

Safety and Warnings:

• Do not install the water connection while the appliance is connected to an electrical outlet.

• The connection must be made by a trained and licensed plumber.

• Water quality must comply with local drinking water regulations.

Water Connection Requirements:

• Pressure: With the supplied Liebherr water filter installed, the pressure must be 40-90 psi (2.8-6.2 bar). Without the filter, the pressure range is 22-87 psi (1.5-6 bar).

• Supply Line: Use a 1/4″ OD copper line to connect to the solenoid valve (not supplied).

• Shut-off Valve: A shut-off valve must be installed between the hose line and the main water supply. Do not install the shut-off valve behind the refrigeration unit.

Solenoid Valve Connection:

• The solenoid valve has a metric R3/4 male connector. An R3/4 (metric) to 1/4″ OD adapter is supplied.

• Insert the provided water strainer into the OD adapter with the cavity facing downwards. This is important to prevent damage to the strainer.

WARNING: Do not connect to the electrical outlet before the installation is completed and the water line is connected to the solenoid valve.

1. Move the appliance towards its final position, leaving enough space to work behind it.

2. Insert the water supply line into its opening at the back of the appliance.

3. Move the power supply line to the area of the electrical outlet.

4. Move the appliance slowly into the recess until the appliance back slides into the anti-tipping bracket.

5. Remove the cover from the valve connector at the front of the appliance.

6. Connect the water line to the OD adapter.

7. Bleed the air from the water line by opening the water supply temporarily.

8. Screw the OD adapter onto the solenoid valve.

9. Open the shut-off valve for the water supply and check the entire system for leaks.

IMPORTANT: After starting up the appliance, the water pipe system must be purged of any air. Refer to the chapter “Bleeding the Ice Maker” in the operating instructions.

Leveling the Appliance:

1. Adjust the height at the front by twisting the leveling feet ① using the provided open-ended spanner. Turn counterclockwise to raise and clockwise to lower.

2. Adjust the height at the rear by turning the adjusting bolts ② using a 1/4″ box spanner or the provided Torx 25 wrench.

3. Rotate the front leveling feet ① until they are firmly in place against the floor. WARNING: To prevent the appliance from tipping forward, the leveling feet must have contact with the floor.

Fastening the Appliance:

Fasten the appliance in the recess through the premounted securing plates on the left and right sides of the appliance housing using four 4 x 16 mm screws. Then, click the supplied covers into place.

Refrigerator Door Adjustment:

Under normal conditions, the factory adjustment should not be changed. Only if heavy loading of the door is expected, it may be adjusted. To adjust the lateral tilt, undo screws ① and use an Allen key (A/F 2.5) on the grub screw ②.

Freezer Drawer Front Adjustment:

If required, the front of the freezer drawers can be adjusted. Transfer the screws on the left and right sides of the freezer drawer individually to the long slots below them. Tighten the screws once the drawer front is in the right position.

1. Pull out the bottom freezer drawer.

2. Remove the blue protection film from the dust filter and insert it into the opening in the toe kick area. Engage the filter at the bottom, press down the button, and click it into place.

3. Remove the locking pins from both supports, which are in the appliance accessory pack.

4. Insert the supports for the ventilation grille on the left and right sides in the motor compartment.

5. Adjust the supports so the front edge of the brackets is flush with the front of the ventilation grille.

6. Insert the locking pins to block the supports.

7. Install the ventilation grille. The grille has bolts on the inside that must be inserted into the holes of the supports.

8. To adjust the height of the grille, loosen the grub screws at the front (Allen key A/F 2.5), adjust the grille to the desired height, and then tighten the grub screws.

For the Refrigerator Door:

Remove the cover ① and unscrew the upper and lower attachment brackets ② from the refrigerator door. These brackets will be mounted onto the refrigerator door panel. The nuts are needed to fit the panel back onto the refrigerator door.

For the Freezer Drawers:

Unscrew the attachment brackets from both freezer drawers. These brackets will be mounted onto the freezer drawer panels. The screws are needed to fit the panels onto the freezer drawers.

Refrigerator Door Panel:

1. Mark a line at 41″ and another at 4-1/4″ from the bottom of the refrigerator door panel.

2. Align one of the dismounted brackets from the refrigerator door to the 41″ line on the panel. Fasten it with a minimum of 6 screws (4 x 16 mm), using any holes possible.

3. Align the second bracket to the 4-1/4″ line. Fasten it with a minimum of 6 screws (4 x 16 mm).

Freezer Drawer Panels:

Fasten the brackets provided onto the freezer drawer panels using three screws (4 x 16 mm) for each bracket. Maintain a 1/8″ (3 mm) gap from the edge of the panel as shown in the diagram.

1. Turn in the adjusting bolts on the bottom of the refrigerator door as far as possible.

2. Open the refrigerator door and hang the custom panel on the top adjusting bolts.

3. Screw on the hex nuts to the top adjusting bolts and finger-tighten them temporarily.

4. Close the door and check the height of the panel. To adjust vertically, loosen the hex nuts and turn the adjusting bolts (Torx™ 15).

5. Align the panel horizontally using the long holes in the attachment bracket, then tighten the hex nuts.

6. Turn the adjusting bolts at the bottom of the door until they make contact with the attachment bracket.

7. Screw on the bottom hex nuts and tighten them.

8. For final horizontal alignment, loosen the three screws on the top and bottom attachment brackets, align the panel, and retighten the screws.

9. Click the cover ① into place and insert the provided cover strip ② between the refrigerator door and the panel.

CAUTION: Do not overtighten screws. Do not use a power driver.

1. Pull out the upper freezer drawer. Screw on its panel with three 3.5 x 13 mm screws on the left and right sides.

2. Close the drawer and check its position relative to surrounding cabinet panels. Align the panel vertically by loosening the screws on the left and right, then retighten the screws.

3. Pull out the lower freezer drawer and fasten its panel in the same way.

4. To cover the gap between the two drawer panels, use the strips provided. Remove the foil from the adhesive surface of the strip and stick it on the top of the lower appliance drawer, making sure the flexible gasket is fully inserted into the gap.
