When using the KARCHER G 2900 X, you must follow these basic precautions:

Read the operating instructions of the engine manufacturer before start-up and follow the safety instructions carefully.

Read all instructions before using the product.

To reduce the risk of injury, close supervision is necessary when a product is used near children.

Know how to stop the product and bleed pressures quickly. Be thoroughly familiar with the controls.

Stay alert and watch what you are doing.

Do not operate when fatigued or under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Keep the operating area clear of all persons.

Do not overreach or stand on unstable support. Keep good footing and balance at all times.

Wear safety goggles and ear protection.

Follow the maintenance instructions specified in the manual.

To avoid risks, all repairs and replacement of spare parts should only be carried out by trained personnel.

Risk of injection or injury: Do not direct discharge stream at persons or animals. High pressure jets can be dangerous if misused and must not be directed at persons, animals, electrical devices, or the unit itself.

Risk of explosion: Do not spray flammable liquids. Operate only where open flame or torch is permitted.

Do not use acids, solvents, or any alkaline or flammable material in this product. These can cause physical injuries and irreversible damage to the machine.

Gun kicks back: Hold with both hands.

The trigger gun safety lock must be engaged when replacing nozzles or when not in use to prevent accidental engagement.

Risk of asphyxiation: Use this product only in a well-ventilated area. Operate and fuel the machine in a well-ventilated area, free of devices with an open pilot or flame like boilers or water heaters.

Risk of fire: Do not add fuel when the product is operating or still hot. If fuel has been spilled, move the machine to a different location and avoid creating sparks.

This machine has hot surfaces that can cause burns. Operate in a safe environment away from children.

Do not touch hot surfaces or allow accessories to contact them.

Do not leave the machine running unattended.

Avoid tipping the machine on its side.

Serious injury can result from high pressure discharge. Keep out of reach of children.

For the KARCHER G 2900 X, use cold water only. Follow these water supply guidelines:

When connecting to water supply mains, observe local regulations. In some areas, a backflow prevention device may be required to prevent feedback of chemicals into the water supply.

Use a water filter to avoid potential damage from dirt in the water supply.

The garden hose must be at least 5/8 inch in inside diameter.

The flow rate of the water supply must not fall below 2.4 GPM (gallons per minute). You can determine the flow rate by running water for one minute into an empty 5-gallon container.

Supply water pressure must be greater than 40 PSI.

The water supply temperature must not exceed 122°F/50°C.

Never use the pressure washer to draw in water contaminated with solvents, e.g., paint thinners, gasoline, oil, etc.

Always prevent debris from being drawn into the unit by using a clean water source. Use an additional water filter if necessary.

Do not operate the pressure washer without the water turned on.

Follow these steps to assemble your KARCHER G 2900 X:

Step 1: Install Detergent Tank and Hose

Pass the detergent siphon hose (A) under the machine. Align the detergent fill hole on the detergent tank (B) towards the front of the machine. Place the detergent hose (A) into the detergent hose hole on the back of the detergent tank (B), and insert it until the hose end rests on the bottom of the deepest part of the tank.

Step 2: Secure the Detergent Tank

Insert hexagonal ¼” bolts (C) into tank knobs (D). Insert these through the flanges on the edges of the detergent tank (B) and into the holes on the frame, then tighten.

Step 3: Assemble the Wheels

Feed an axle (G) through the hub of a wheel (E) and a spacer 1/2″ (F). Insert this assembly into the axle mount at the back of the frame. Push the straight side of a cotter pin (H) through the hole in the axle until it is locked in place. Repeat this process for the other side of the unit.

Step 4: Mount the Nozzle Holder

Mount the nozzle holder (K) to the handle. Align the holes, insert the ¼” carriage bolts (L), and secure them with the knobs with nuts (M).

Step 5: Attach the Handle

Attach the handle to the frame of the pressure washer. Align the holes in the handle with the holes in the lower frame, insert the carriage bolts (I), and tighten with knobs (J).

Step 6: Place Nozzles

Place the quick connect nozzles (N) into the nozzle holder (K).

Step 7: Connect Wand to Spray Gun

Push the wand (O) into the spray gun (P) and then thread the connection to secure it.

Step 8: Add Engine Oil

The engine is shipped without oil. Remove the cap/dipstick from the engine and add the correct amount of oil. Ensure the oil level is between the “FULL/MAX” and “ADD/MIN” marks on the dipstick with the machine on a level surface. Replace the cap/dipstick.

Follow these 10 steps for operating your KARCHER G 2900 X:

STEP 1: Insert Nozzle

Pull the spring-loaded collar of the wand back to insert your choice of quick connect nozzle. Release the collar and push the nozzle until the collar clicks. Ensure you hear a “click” and pull the nozzle to confirm it is seated properly.

STEP 2: Attach High Pressure Hose

Attach the high pressure hose to the trigger gun.

STEP 3: Check Oil Level

Check the engine oil level. It should be between the “FULL/MAX” and “ADD/MIN” marks on the dipstick. The engine is shipped without oil, so you must fill it before the first use. Do not over-fill. Do not run the engine with a high or low oil level, as this can cause engine damage. It is recommended to change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, then every 50 hours.

STEP 4: Fill Gas Tank

Fill the gas tank with unleaded gasoline. Do not use leaded gasoline and do not add oil to the gasoline.

STEP 5: Connect High Pressure Hose to Pump

Connect the high pressure hose to the high pressure outlet on the pump.

STEP 6: Connect Garden Hose to Inlet

Connect your garden hose to the unit’s water inlet.

STEP 7: Turn on Water

Connect the garden hose to a cold water source and turn the water on completely. Do not use hot water.

STEP 8: Purge Air

Unlock the trigger gun safety lock. Pull the trigger to eliminate trapped air and wait for a steady flow of water to emerge from the spray nozzle.

STEP 9: Set Engine Switch

Move the engine STOP switch to the ON position.

STEP 10: Start Engine

Pull the starter handle. If the engine fails to start after 3 pulls, squeeze the trigger gun to release pressure, and repeat the step. For more engine details, see the engine manual.

The color-coded quick connect nozzles for the KARCHER G 2900 X provide a wide array of spray widths from 0° to 65°.

0° spray angle = Red nozzle

Use for particularly stubborn accumulation of grime. Not recommended for soft materials like sidings, decks, painted surfaces, or cars.

15° spray angle = Yellow nozzle

Use for dirt accumulation over a surface.

25° spray angle = Green nozzle

Use for dirt accumulation over a large surface.

40° spray angle = White nozzle

Use for moderate dirt accumulation over a large surface.

65° spray angle = Black nozzle

Use for operating with detergents or cleaning with low pressure.

CAUTION: High pressure in nozzle area can cause injury. Make sure you hear the “click” when inserting the nozzle tip into the quick connection. Pull the nozzle to make sure it is seated properly before operating.

WARNING: To avoid serious injury, never point the spray nozzle at yourself, other persons, or animals.

Detergents can only be applied with the black detergent nozzle on your KARCHER G 2900 X. Follow these steps:

STEP 1: Install Black Nozzle

Install the black detergent nozzle for detergent application at low pressure.

STEP 2: Fill Detergent Tank

Fill the tank with Kärcher detergent, diluted per the manufacturer’s instructions.

STEP 3: Apply Detergent

With the engine running, pull the trigger to operate the unit. Liquid detergent is drawn into the unit and mixed with water. Apply detergent to the work area. Do not allow the detergent to dry on the surface.

STEP 4: Rinse System

Always draw fresh water through the detergent suction tube when the cleaning job is done to rinse and flush any remaining detergents from the injection system.

The KARCHER G 2900 X has been designed for use with cleaning detergents recommended by the manufacturer. Using other detergents may affect the operation and void the warranty.

Always Use Kärcher Detergent for Best Results

Kärcher biodegradable detergents are specially formulated to protect the environment and your pressure washer. The special formula won’t clog the suction tube filter and will protect the internal parts of the pressure washer for a longer life.

Never use:

Bleach, chlorine products or other corrosive chemicals

Liquids containing solvents (i.e., paint thinners, gasoline, oils.)

Tri-sodium phosphate products

Ammonia products

Acid-based products

These chemicals will harm the unit and damage the surface being cleaned. Use of these items will void the warranty.

Step 1: Move the engine stop switch to the OFF position.

Step 2: Release the trigger and engage the safety lock on the trigger gun.

STEP 1: Clean Detergent Line

If detergents have been used, remove the detergent suction tube from the container and insert it into 1 gallon of fresh water. Siphon water at low pressure for one minute to clear the line of residual detergent.

STEP 2: Stop the Engine

Move the engine stop switch to the OFF position.

STEP 3: Turn Off Water

Turn off the water source.

STEP 4: Release Pressure

Press the trigger to release water pressure.

STEP 5: Engage Safety Lock

Release the trigger and engage the gun safety lock.

STEP 6: Disconnect Garden Hose

Disconnect the garden hose from the water inlet on the unit.

STEP 7: Disconnect and Store High Pressure Hose

Disconnect the high pressure hose from the high pressure outlet. Store the high pressure hose in the hose holder assembly.

It is highly recommended to use Kärcher’s Pump Guard before winter storage to protect the pump from freezing and premature wear. Follow these steps:

STEP 1: Move the throttle to the stop position.

STEP 2: Disconnect all hoses.

STEP 3: Unscrew the cap from the Pump Guard bottle.

STEP 4: Remove the internal seal.

STEP 5: Reattach the cap to the Pump Guard bottle and remove the black protective cap.

STEP 6: Screw the bottle into the water inlet on the pressure washer pump and squeeze.

STEP 7: With the engine stop switch in the STOP position, pull the starter handle until fluid starts to exit.

STEP 8: Unscrew the bottle. Store or dispose of it properly.

Failure to follow these directions may result in damage to the pump assembly and accessories and will void the warranty.

Kärcher Pump Maintenance

All Kärcher pumps are factory lubricated and sealed, requiring no further lubrication. The pump on your pressure washer does not require maintenance. Any attempts to service or alter the pump may damage your pressure washer and void the product warranty.

Pump Inspection

You should routinely make a visual inspection of the pressure washer’s pump. If you notice oil leaking around the pump seals, you should take the pressure washer to a Kärcher-Authorized Service Center for repair.

Engine Maintenance

Carry out maintenance tasks for the engine according to the specifications provided in the operating instructions by the engine manufacturer.

Deck Cleaning

Pre-rinse the deck and surrounding area with fresh water. If using Karcher Multipurpose Cleaner, apply to the surface at low pressure. For best results, limit your work area to smaller sections of approximately 25 square feet. Allow the cleaner to remain on the surface for 1-3 minutes but do not let it dry. Rinse at high pressure in a long sweeping motion, keeping the spray nozzle approximately 3-6 inches from the cleaning surface. Always clean from top to bottom and from left to right. Overlap sections to eliminate stop marks.

Cars, Boats & Motorcycles

Pre-rinse the vehicle with fresh water. If using Karcher Vehicle Wash and Wax, apply to the surface at low pressure from bottom to top, cleaning one side at a time. Do not allow detergent to dry. Use a wash brush attachment (not included) for stubborn dirt if needed. Rinse at high pressure with the nozzle 6-8 inches from the surface (increase distance for pinstriping or sensitive surfaces). Clean from top to bottom, left to right. For best results, wipe dry with a chamois or soft cloth.

House Siding

Pre-rinse the cleaning surface with fresh water. If using Karcher Multipurpose Cleaner, apply at low pressure from bottom to top, working in sections of about 6 feet. Allow detergent to remain on the surface for 1-3 minutes. Do not let it dry; if the surface appears to be drying, wet it down with fresh water. Use a wash brush (not included) for stubborn dirt if needed. Rinse at high pressure from top to bottom in an even sweeping motion, keeping the nozzle about 6 inches from the surface.

Cement Patios, Brick and Stone

Pre-rinse the surface with fresh water. If using Karcher Multipurpose Cleaner, apply at low pressure to sections of about 25 square feet. Let it sit for 1-3 minutes without drying. Rinse at high pressure with a sweeping motion, nozzle 3-6 inches from the surface. Clean from top to bottom and left to right. For extremely stubborn stains, use a Turbo Nozzle (sold separately).

Barbecue Grills, Outdoor Power Equipment & Gardening Tools

Pre-rinse the surface. If using Karcher Multipurpose Cleaner, apply at low pressure. Let it sit for 1-3 minutes, but do not let it dry. Rinse at high pressure with the nozzle 3-6 inches from the surface. For stubborn dirt, move the nozzle closer for greater cutting action.

Patio & Lawn Furniture

Pre-rinse the furniture and surrounding area. If using Karcher Multipurpose Cleaner, apply at low pressure and let it remain for 1-3 minutes without drying. Use a wash brush (not included) for stubborn dirt. Rinse at high pressure with a sweeping motion, nozzle 3-6 inches from the surface. Clean from top to bottom and left to right for best results.

Before cleaning any surface, test the spray pattern and distance in an inconspicuous area.

If painted surfaces are peeling or chipping, use extreme caution as the pressure washer may remove the loose paint from the surface.

When using on surfaces that might come in contact with food, flush the surfaces with plenty of drinking water after cleaning.

Before making any repairs, remove the spark plug cable to prevent accidental ignition of the engine.
