What are the initial setup steps after unpacking the turntable?

1. Set up the platter and the platter mat.

2. Set the main weight (from the parts box) onto the axis. Fit the groove of the square weight to the guide pin.

Note: Do not connect the power cord to a wall outlet until the tonearm height adjustment is completed.

How do I remove or install the dust cover?

The dust cover can be removed easily by lifting it up so that the hinge is detached from the plate. Install the dust cover again after the preparations are finished.

How should I mount the cartridge?

1. Mount your cartridge assembly to the straight arm pipe or the S-shaped arm pipe provided in the parts box.

2. Connect the headshell lead wires carefully according to channel and polarity:

– Green: to R channel E (ground)

– Red: to R channel live

– Blue: to L channel E (ground)

– White: to L channel live

Note: The cartridge and the stylus are not provided on units for the U.S.A., Canada and the U.K.

3. Mount the cartridge straight onto the headshell and leave the screws slightly loosened. Tighten them firmly after completing the “overhang adjustment”.

How do I perform the overhang adjustment?

Straight arm pipe:

Adjust the overhang so that the cartridge is parallel to the headshell, the distance between the arm pipe edge and the stylus is 47 mm, and the stylus is positioned at the intersection point of the arm pipe center line and the headshell center line. Variance of ±1 mm will not harm performance.

S-shaped arm pipe:

Install the cartridge so that the distance between the edge of the headshell and the stylus tip is 48 mm. Variance of ±1 mm will not harm performance.

How do I mount the arm pipe?

Loosen the arm pipe fixing screw and fully insert the straight arm pipe or S-shaped arm pipe (with a cartridge) until the base line can just be seen, then fix it by tightening the screw.

How do I adjust the tonearm height?

1. Loosen the arm height adjustment screws with the provided hexagonal screwdriver, leaving the tonearm fixed with the clamp.

2. Adjust it by moving the tonearm up or down so that the stylus tip is positioned about 25 mm above the control panel.

3. Secure the arm height adjustment screws firmly.

Alternatively, you can check the height by releasing the clamp, raising the headshell gently to its upper limit, and ensuring the stylus tip is about 7-9 mm above the platter mat. Or, adjust using the provided EP adaptor so that the stylus tip is almost touching the adaptor.

How do I perform the tracking force adjustment (Zero Balance)?

1. Plug in the power cord and press the READY switch to turn the power on.

2. Press the ZERO BALANCE button; the ZERO BALANCE indicator will light.

3. Set the square weight back and forth into one of the three click positions according to the cartridge weight range (see table below).

4. Turn the knurled knob without moving the square weight so that the stylus tip is almost touching the record surface.

5. Press the ZERO BALANCE button again to turn it OFF. The ZERO BALANCE indicator will go out, and the tonearm will return automatically to the arm rest.

6. Clamp the tonearm.

Note on Sub-weight Installation: After installing the square weight, insert the sub-weight by turning it. If this is impossible, move the square weight backward and forward to find the click position by turning the knurled knob.

Note on Bias: About 0.5 g bias is applied to prevent damage during accidental power off. The tonearm raises when power is off because the zero balance differs from when the ZERO BALANCE button is ON.

Cartridge Weight Range Table:

Arm Pipe Main Weight Sub-weight (SW-Y55 Option) Cartridge Weight Range*
Straight S-shaped Provided Not set Set
O O O 3.5 – 9.5 g
O O O 10.5 – 16.5 g
O O O 7.5 – 13 g
O O O 14.5 – 20 g
O SW-Y55 (Option) O 16 – 25 g
O SW-Y55 (Option) O 23.5 – 32 g

*Including weight of headshell.

*When using a cartridge weighing more than 20 g (including the headshell) with the S-shaped arm pipe, optional main weight “SW-Y55” is necessary.

How do I set the TRACKING FORCE, ANTI-SKATING, and Q DAMPING controls?

Set the TRACKING FORCE, ANTI-SKATING, and Q DAMPING controls to the tracking force specified for the cartridge being used.

Note for ANTI-SKATING: Use the ● marked index for a conical stylus. Use the ●● marked index for an elliptical or a Shibata stylus.

How do I adjust the horizontal level of the cabinet?

Adjust the supports to make the cabinet horizontal. Turn the support in the direction of A to lower the height and in the direction of B to increase it.

Note: If the cabinet is dragged, the supports may be twisted. If this happens, lift up the cabinet, and the supports will return to their normal position.

How do I connect the turntable to an amplifier?

Connect the output cables to the PHONO terminals of your amplifier:

– White plug: Left (L) terminal

– Red plug: Right (R) terminal

– Grounding wire: Ground terminal

What do the controls and indicators on the turntable do?

Q DAMPING control: Set to the specified tracking force. Smooths stylus tracing and lowers tonearm resonance.

ANTI-SKATING control: Set to the specified tracking force using the correct index (● for conical, ●● for elliptical/Shibata). Cancels inward force on the tonearm.

Speed indicator (33/45): Changes from red to green when the platter reaches the selected speed and is stable.

TRACKING FORCE control: Turn this dial to add tracking force according to the cartridge specification after zero balancing.

READY switch: Press to turn the power on/off. When ON, the “33” speed indicator and “30” SIZE indicator light. Note: Consumes about 2.6 watts even when OFF. Unplug the power cord when not in use for extended periods.

45, 33 switches: Select the platter speed (45 rpm or 33-1/3 rpm). The corresponding speed indicator will light.

TT-START/STOP switch: Press to start or stop the platter rotation for manual operation only.

REPEAT button: Press to repeat play of a record. The REPEAT indicator lights. Press again to cancel repeat play. Note: Pressing START/STOP during play also cancels repeat.

SIZE button: Selects the record size (17 cm or 30 cm) for automatic play lead-in. The corresponding indicator (“17” or “30”) lights.

<, > buttons: Press and hold to move the tonearm left (<) or right (>). Release to stop.

UP/DOWN button: Press to lower the tonearm if it’s raised, or raise it if it’s lowered. Useful for cueing during manual play or pausing.

START/STOP switch: Press to start automatic play. Press during play to stop the record and return the tonearm to the rest.

ZERO BALANCE button: Press only for zero balance adjustment. The indicator lights, and most other buttons become non-functional. Press again after adjustment to deactivate.
