DO read the operating instructions before you attempt to use the equipment.
DO ensure that all electrical connections are properly made and in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. Switch off and withdraw the mains plug when making or changing connections.
DO consult your dealer if you are ever in doubt about the installation, operation or safety of your equipment.
DO be careful with glass panels or doors on equipment.
DON’T continue to operate the equipment if you are in any doubt about it working normally, or if it is damaged in any way — switch off, withdraw the mains plug and consult your dealer.
DON’T remove any fixed cover as this may expose dangerous voltages.
DON’T leave equipment switched on when it is unattended unless it is specifically stated that it is designed for unattended operation or has a standby mode. Switch off using the switch on the equipment and make sure that your family knows how to do this.
DON’T use equipment such as personal stereos or radios so that you are distracted from the requirements of road safety. It is illegal to watch television whilst driving.
DON’T listen to headphones at high volume, as such use can permanently damage your hearing.
DON’T obstruct the ventilation of the equipment, for example with curtains or soft furnishings. Overheating will cause damage and shorten the life of the equipment.
DON’T use makeshift stands and NEVER fix legs with wood screws — to ensure complete safety always fit the manufacturer’s approved stand or legs with the fixings provided according to the instructions.

How do I set the date and time?
1. Open the LCD monitor. The unit turns on.
2. Tap [YES] when [SET DATE/TIME!] is displayed.
3. Set the date and time. When the day, month, year, hour, or minute item is tapped, ∧ and ∨ will be displayed. Tap ∧ or ∨ to adjust the value. Repeat this step to input the day, month, year, hour, and minute.
4. After setting the date and time, tap [SET].
How do I select my region after setting the date and time?
After setting the date and time and tapping [SET]:
1. Select the region where you live.
2. Tap < or > to select the city name.
3. Tap [SAVE].
Time difference between the selected city and the GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) is displayed.
How do I open the terminal cover (SD card cover)?
1. Open the LCD monitor.
2. Slide down the terminal cover lock and slide the cover aside.
3. Lift the cover slowly.
How do I close the terminal cover securely?
Leave the LCD monitor open first.
1. Flip down the cover slowly while making sure the gray waterproof seal fits into the opening at the terminals.
2. Press the entire cover against the camcorder with equal force and firmly attach the cover completely.
3. Slide the cover until it clicks into place.
(The cover is not properly closed if the red mark at the terminal cover lock is visible.)
What precautions should I take when opening or closing the terminal cover?
Do not apply excessive force when opening or closing the terminal cover.
Do not open or close the terminal cover with wet or dirt/sand-covered hands.
Do not allow any dirt, lint, hair, sand, and other foreign substances to accumulate between the waterproof seal and the case.
Never damage or scratch the waterproof seal and terminal cover. Doing so can result in leaks. If the seal is damaged, contact your nearest JVC Service Center for a replacement. (Charges apply.)
Read the “Detailed User Guide” carefully before using the camcorder under water or in places exposed to water droplet.
How do I charge the built-in battery?
1. Open the terminal cover.
2. Connect the supplied adapter cable to the supplied AC adapter.
3. Plug the AC adapter into an AC outlet (110 V to 240 V).
4. Connect the other side of the adapter cable to the USB socket on the unit.

What precautions should I take when handling SD cards?
This unit is not guaranteed to operate with all SD cards, even specified ones.
To protect the data, do not touch the terminals of the SD card.
When using an SDXC card, check its compatibility with the OS of your computer by referring to the Detailed User Guide.
Do not use a miniSD card or microSD card (even if the card is inserted in an adapter). It may cause malfunction to the camcorder.
How do I record video in Intelligent Auto (i.A.) mode?
Before recording an important scene, it is recommended to conduct a trial recording.
1. Check if the recording mode is video (icon looks like a movie camera). If the mode is still image (icon looks like a photo camera), tap the icon on the touch screen, then tap the video icon to switch.
2. Check if the recording mode is i.A. (Intelligent Auto). If the mode is M (Manual), tap M on the touch screen, then tap i.A. to switch.
3. Press the START/STOP button to start recording. Press again to stop.
Alternatively, you can tap || REC on the touch screen to start recording, and tap REC to stop.
How do I zoom while recording?

1. Release the stopper on the core filter.
2. Place the AV cable inside, about 3 cm from the connector end that plugs into the camcorder.
3. Wind the cable once around the core inside the filter.

charge within the temperature range of 10°C to 35°C. Cooler temperatures require longer charging time, or in some cases stop charging at all. Warmer temperatures prevent complete charging, or in some cases stop charging at all.
store in a cool, dry place. Extended exposure to high temperatures will increase natural discharge and shorten service life.
keep a 30% battery level if the battery is not to be used for a long period of time. In addition, fully charge and then fully discharge the battery every 6 months, then continue to store it at a 30% battery level.
remove the AC adapter from the unit when not in use, as some machines use current even when switched off.

Do not bend or drop the recording medium, or subject it to strong pressure, jolts or vibrations.

Do not turn off the camcorder power during shooting, playback, or when otherwise accessing the recording medium.

When erasing data using the camcorder, the data won’t be erased completely. When handing over your camcorder and/or SD card, you are recommended to erase all of the data by either performing “FORMAT” or “FACTORY PRESET” operation on this unit, using commercially available software, or by physically destroying the camcorder.
