Step 1. Remove the parts bag, accessories, and inserts included with the JOHN DEERE OMM156510.

Step 2. Open the carton completely by cutting each corner from top to bottom.

Step 3. Ensure you have all included items prior to assembly.

Step 1. Place the handle onto the handle supports connected to the main unit of the JOHN DEERE OMM156510. Make sure the holes in the handle align with the holes on the handle supports. Note that it may be necessary to move the handle supports from side to side in order to align the handle so it will slide over the supports.

Step 2. Insert the carriage bolts through the holes from the outside of the unit and attach a plastic knob from the inside of the unit. Tighten by hand.

Step 3. Insert the multi colored quick connect spray tips and other supplied accessories in the spaces provided on the handle.

Before operating the JOHN DEERE OMM156510, ensure the following steps are performed:

1. Make sure the handle is in place and secure.

2. Check that oil has been added to the proper level in the engine crankcase.

3. Add proper fuel to the fuel tank.

4. Check for properly tightened hose connections.

5. Check to make sure there are no kinks, cuts, or damage to the high pressure hose.

6. Provide a proper water supply at an adequate flow.

7. Be sure to read the safety section before using the JOHN DEERE OMM156510.

Step 1. Uncoil the high pressure hose and attach the quick connect end of the hose to the base of the spray gun. Pull down on the collar of the quick connect, slide it onto the spray gun, and let go of the collar. Tug on the hose to be sure of a tight connection.

Step 2. Similarly, attach the other end of the high pressure hose to the high pressure outlet on the pump of the JOHN DEERE OMM156510. Pull down on the collar of the quick connect, slide it onto the pump, and let go of the collar. Tug on the hose to be sure of a tight connection.

Step 3. Before connecting the garden hose to the water inlet, inspect the inlet screen. Clean the screen if it contains debris or have it replaced if damaged. Do not run the JOHN DEERE OMM156510 if the inlet screen is damaged.

Step 4. Run water through your garden hose for 30 seconds to clean out any debris.

Step 5. Connect the garden hose, which should not exceed 50 feet in length, to the water inlet and tighten by hand.

Step 6. Turn on the water, press the red button on the gun, and squeeze the trigger to purge the pump system of air and impurities.

Step 1. Place the JOHN DEERE OMM156510 near an outside water source capable of supplying water at a flow rate greater than 3.8 gallons per minute and no less than 20 PSI at the pressure washer end of the garden hose.

Step 2. Check that the high pressure hose is tightly connected to the spray gun and pump.

Step 3. Make sure the unit is in a level position.

Step 4. Connect the garden hose to the water inlet on the pump.

Step 5. Turn on the water, point the gun in a safe direction, press the red button, and squeeze the trigger to purge the pump system of air and impurities.

Step 6. Attach the nozzle extension to the spray gun and tighten by hand.

Step 7. Choose the desired spray tip, pull back the nozzle extension collar, insert the spray tip, and release the collar. Tug on the spray tip to make sure it is securely in place.

Step 8. When starting the engine, position yourself as recommended and start the engine according to the instructions given in the engine operator manual.

Step 1. Release the spray gun trigger and let the engine idle for two minutes.

Step 2. Turn the engine off according to the instructions given in the engine operator manual.

Step 3. Always point the spray gun in a safe direction, press the red button, and squeeze the spray gun trigger to release retained high water pressure. Note that the spray gun traps high water pressure, even when the engine is stopped and the water is disconnected.

The quick connect on the nozzle extension allows you to switch between five different spray tips. To change spray tips, follow these steps:

1. Pull back the collar on the quick connect and pull the current spray tip off. Store spray tips in the holder provided on the handle.

2. Select the desired spray tip based on the spray pattern:

For a gentle rinse, select the white 40 degree or green 25 degree spray tip.

To scour a surface, select the yellow 15 degree or red 0 degree spray tip.

To apply detergent, select the black spray tip.

3. Pull back on the collar, insert the new spray tip, and release the collar. Tug on the spray tip to make sure it is securely in place.

Step 1. Review the use of spray tips.

Step 2. Prepare the detergent solution as required by the job.

Step 3. Place the small filter end of the detergent siphoning tube into the detergent container. Make sure the filter is fully submerged in the detergent while applying it.

Step 4. Make sure the black spray tip is installed. Detergent cannot be applied with high pressure spray tips such as white, green, yellow, or red.

Step 5. Apply a high pressure spray to a small area and then check the surface for damage. If no damage is found, you can continue rinsing.

Step 6. Start at the top of the area to be rinsed, working down with overlapping strokes.

If you used the detergent siphoning tube, you must flush it with clean water before stopping the engine of the JOHN DEERE OMM156510.

Step 1. Place the detergent siphoning tube and filter in a bucket full of clean water.

Step 2. Remove the high pressure spray tip from the nozzle extension.

Step 3. Select and install the black detergent spray tip.

Step 4. Flush for one to two minutes.

Step 5. Shut off the engine and turn off the water supply.

Step 6. Point the spray gun in a safe direction, press the red button, and squeeze the spray gun trigger to release retained high water pressure.

Water should not remain in the JOHN DEERE OMM156510 for long periods of time. Follow these procedures after every use:

1. Flush the detergent siphoning tube by placing the filter into a pail of clean water while running the pressure washer in low pressure mode for one to two minutes.

2. Shut off the engine, turn off the water supply, point the gun in a safe direction, press the red button, and squeeze the trigger to relieve trapped pressure, then let the engine cool.

3. Disconnect the hose from the spray gun and high pressure outlet on the pump. Drain water from the hose, gun, and nozzle extension. Use a rag to wipe off the hose.

4. Place the spray gun, nozzle extension, spray tips, and high pressure hose on the handle.

5. Empty the pump of all pumped liquids by pulling the recoil handle about six times.

6. Store the unit in a clean, dry area.

For pump oil maintenance, change the oil after the first 50 hours of operation and then every 200 hours or three months, whichever occurs first. Use only high quality nondetergent 30 weight oil.

To change the pump oil, follow these steps:

1. Clean the area around the brass oil drain plug at the bottom of the pump.

2. Remove the oil drain plug and drain the oil completely into an approved container.

3. When the oil has completely drained, install the oil drain plug and tighten firmly.

4. Clean the area around the pump oil dipstick. Remove the dipstick and fill the pump with the recommended oil, approximately 9.6 ounces, to the full mark on the dipstick.

5. Install the pump oil dipstick.

6. Wipe up any spilled oil.

To protect the JOHN DEERE OMM156510 from freezing temperatures:

1. Follow steps 1 through 5 in the after each use section.

2. Use pump saver, model 6039, to treat the pump. This minimizes freeze damage and lubricates pistons and seals.

3. If pump saver is not available, connect a 3 foot section of garden hose to the water inlet adapter. Pour RV antifreeze, which is antifreeze without alcohol, into the hose. Pull the recoil handle twice. Disconnect the 3 foot hose.

4. Store the unit in a clean, dry area.

Regular maintenance will improve the performance and extend the life of the JOHN DEERE OMM156510. Recommendations include:

Some adjustments will need to be made periodically to properly maintain your pressure washer. Check the spray gun and nozzle extension assembly for wear.

All maintenance in the operator manuals should be made at least once each season.

Once a year, you should clean or replace the spark plug, and clean or replace the air filter. A new spark plug and clean air filter assure proper fuel and air mixture and help your engine run better and last longer.

Daily or before use, clean accumulated debris from the cleaning system. Keep linkage, spring, and controls clean. Keep the area around and behind the muffler free from any combustible debris. Inspect cooling air slots and openings on the pressure washer. These openings must be kept clean and unobstructed.
