Each input has a dedicated 5-segment peak meter that indicates the level of the input signal. It features a 1-second hold on the CLIP indicator. The red Clip LED will illuminate when your input signal reaches -0.1 dBFS. To avoid clipping, use the gain controls to keep the signal below this level.

The output meters display the signal level received back from the host device. These meters have the same range as the input meters, from -50 dBFS to -0.1 dBFS.

The IK MULTIMEDIA IRIG PRO QUATTRO I-O has a built-in omnidirectional microphone capsule located at the top of the front panel. When using it, orient the capsule towards the sound source you are recording. To activate it, slide the built-in microphone’s switch to the ON position. When active, the built-in microphone will replace input 1, and its gain can be controlled with the same potentiometer.

Use the input gain control knobs to adjust the input gain for the signals at Inputs 1, 2, 3, and 4 respectively.

The 3-position Mode switch allows you to decide how to route the 4 inputs:

Multichannel: Each input is sent as a separate channel.

Stereo: Inputs are paired into a stereo signal, with safety channels.

Mono: All inputs are summed to a mono signal, with safety channels.

The HOST LED illuminates when the unit is successfully recognized by the host device to which it is connected.

The Headphone level knob controls the volume for the 1/8″ TRS headphone output. The Line out level knob controls the volume for the 2 balanced XLR outputs as well as the 1/8″ TRS stereo output.

The MIDI IN/OUT LEDs illuminate when MIDI data is being received from or transmitted to the MIDI ports.

The IK MULTIMEDIA IRIG PRO QUATTRO I-O provides a direct monitoring path from the inputs to the outputs. When direct monitoring is enabled, the input signal is mixed with the output signal from your audio software and routed directly to both the line and headphone outputs. This allows for zero-latency monitoring.

The Loopback feature routes the audio that is input to the IK MULTIMEDIA IRIG PRO QUATTRO I-O from your host back to the host through inputs 1 and 2. You can control the level of the loopback stream using the host’s volume control.

The limiter reduces the level when input signals exceed a set level. When you set the Limiter switch to on, it will affect inputs 1 and 2 only (either microphone and instrument).

The IK MULTIMEDIA IRIG PRO QUATTRO I-O features several types of inputs:

Microphone/Instrument inputs 1 and 2: These are XLR Combo type sockets. Connect microphones or Hi-Z instruments. The gain control on the top panel provides gain for both input types.

Microphone/Line inputs 3 and 4: These are also XLR Combo type sockets. Connect microphones or balanced line level signals. The gain control on the top panel provides gain for both input types.

RCA line inputs 3 and 4: Use these RCA inputs with unbalanced line-level devices. These inputs are direct-to-ADC, so no gain control is available on the unit.

1/8″ TRS line inputs 3 and 4: Use this stereo 1/8″ TRS jack with unbalanced line-level devices. This input is also direct-to-ADC, with no gain control available. Please note that this input will not provide plug-in power for external 1/8″ TRS microphones.

There are dedicated 48V phantom power switches for inputs 1-2 and 3-4. These switches enable 48V phantom power on the respective microphone inputs. The front panel LEDs will illuminate when phantom power is selected.

The IK MULTIMEDIA IRIG PRO QUATTRO I-O provides the following outputs:

Headphone output: Connect one pair of headphones to this 1/8″ (3.5 mm) TRS jack socket.

Stereo line output: This 1/8″ (3.5 mm) TRS jack allows you to send the audio signal to a video camera or other device while monitoring with headphones.

Balanced line outputs: Outputs 1/L and 2/R are balanced analog line outputs on 3-pin male XLR sockets. These outputs are normally used to drive the primary monitoring system.

Use the 2.5 mm MIDI IN/OUT jacks for connection of external MIDI equipment.

The IK MULTIMEDIA IRIG PRO QUATTRO I-O uses 4xAA batteries, which are installed in the battery compartment.

Use the Standard UNC 1/4″-20 thread adapter to attach the IK MULTIMEDIA IRIG PRO QUATTRO I-O to any 1/4″ UNC support, such as a camera tripod or mic stand.
