Please observe the following safety information when working with the HOMEMATIC HM-LC-BL1-FM:

Installation:

• The device is part of a building installation and must only be installed by persons with the relevant electro-technical knowledge and experience.

• Operation is only permitted with a 230 V/50 Hz alternating current network. Work on the 230 V network is only permitted by qualified electricians.

• Always disconnect the power before working on the device to prevent electrocution (switch off the circuit breaker). Ignoring installation instructions can cause fires or other hazards.

• Remove the fuse before connecting the actuator.

• Use only mains power capable buttons and wires for connecting to the button inputs.

Operation:

• Do not open the device. It does not contain any parts to be maintained by the user. In case of a fault, send the device to the service department.

• The HOMEMATIC HM-LC-BL1-FM is to be operated indoors only. Keep it away from humidity, dust, and sunshine or other radiating heat sources.

• Do not exceed the capacity specified for the device. All load specifications refer to resistive loads.

• The actuator is only suitable for 230V a.c. motors. Never connect three-phase a.c. motors or d.c. motors.

• If motors are connected in parallel, ensure to observe the motor manufacturer’s specifications to prevent damage.

• Use only blinds or shutters with a limit switch (mechanical or electronic). Check the limit switch for proper adjustment before starting the blind actuator.

• Exceeding the device’s capacity could lead to its destruction, a fire, or an electrical accident.

• The device has not been designed to support safety disconnection.

The HOMEMATIC HM-LC-BL1-FM controls connected consumers, such as blind motors, based on the radio commands it receives. Commands can be sent by actuating buttons, using remote operations, or from a software interface. Additionally, it is possible to control the actuator with taught sensors, which send a command when a specific event occurs.

Installation should only be performed by a qualified electrical installer with the following specialist knowledge:

• The ‘5 safety rules’ to be used: Disconnect from mains; Safeguard from switching on again; Check that system is de-energised; Earth and short circuit; Cover or cordon off neighbouring live parts.

• Selection of suitable tools, measuring equipment, and personal safety equipment.

• Evaluation of measuring results.

• Selection of electrical installation material for safeguarding shut-off conditions.

• IP protection types.

• Installation of electrical installation material.

• Type of supply network and resulting connecting conditions.

Installation may only take place in normal commercial switch boxes (device boxes) in accordance with DIN 49073-1. When installing multiple flush-mount actuators in adjacent boxes, the total switching current of 16 A is not to be exceeded.

For teaching the device directly without a Homematic Centre, you must connect buttons, even if only temporarily. Use only mains power capable buttons and wiring; do not connect switches, as this would cause faulty functionality (teach mode).

You can operate the HOMEMATIC HM-LC-BL1-FM using a button connected directly to the device, which is useful for checking the electrical installation without needing to teach the device first. Only a brief button press is used for operation. A longer button press (holding for more than 4 seconds) switches the actuator to teach mode.

To pair the HOMEMATIC HM-LC-BL1-FM, both devices to be connected must be put into teach mode.

1. Connect mains power capable buttons to the button inputs of the actuator as described in the installation section of the PDF.

2. To teach a certain channel, press and hold the respective channel button (one of the two buttons, UP ▲ or DOWN ▼, for the blind actuator) for about 4 seconds.

3. Teach mode is indicated by the device LED flashing continuously.

If no teaching occurs, teach mode is automatically ended after 20 seconds. If other devices are in teach mode, they will be taught.

After teaching, the HOMEMATIC HM-LC-BL1-FM can be controlled depending on the control elements that have been taught. It can be controlled in a two-button UP/DOWN mode or in a toggle mode (UP/STOP/DOWN/STOP).

To reset the actuator to factory status, follow these steps:

1. Switch the device to teach mode by pressing and holding the (first) channel button for at least 4 seconds. The LED will begin flashing slowly.

2. While the device is in teach mode, hold the (first) channel button pressed down again for at least 4 seconds.

3. The actuator reset is indicated by the device LED flashing quickly.

Different states of the HOMEMATIC HM-LC-BL1-FM are indicated by the device LED flashing:

As soon as a relay of the device is tripped, the device LED is continuously illuminated. After configuring the actuator with a center or a programming tool, the device LED may also indicate other device states besides this.

After the operating voltage is restored (e.g., after a power outage), the actuator checks its components. If an error is detected during this test, it is indicated by a flashing LED. This repeats continually, and the device will not start to work with its respective functionality.

If the test runs without any errors, the actuator sends a radio telegram with its status information. To prevent all actuators from sending at the same time, it waits a random delay time before sending. During this time, the device LED flashes (like in teach mode). If the delay time is short, the flashing may not be noticeable.

The HOMEMATIC HM-LC-BL1-FM is maintenance-free. Any repairs should only be done by trained professionals. The device contains an internal fuse to protect the device relay from greater current load. If the device becomes overloaded and the fuse is blown, it can be replaced by a technician.

Important:

• Disconnect the mains power before removing the device (switch the circuit breaker off).

• Work on the 230V network is only permitted by qualified electricians.

• If the fuse needs replacement, it must be replaced with the same type: a round delay fuse 5 A.
