Please observe the following hazard information for the HOMEMATIC HM-LC-SW2-FM:

General Hazards:

• The described actuators are part of a building installation. When planning and setting up electrical systems, the pertinent standards and regulations of the respective country of installation are to be observed.

• Operating the device is only permitted with a 230 V/50 Hz alternating current network. Work on the 230 V network is only permitted by qualified electricians (in accordance with VDE 0100).

• Always disconnect the power to devices before working on them to prevent electrocution (switch circuit breaker). Ignoring installation instructions can cause fires or other hazards.

• Do not open the device. It does not contain any parts to be maintained by the user. In case of a fault, please send the device to our service department.

• Operate the device indoors only and keep it away from humidity, dust, and sunshine or other radiating heat sources.

• Do not exceed the specified capacity for the device. Ensure the specified wiring and wire cross-sections are used when connecting to device terminals.

• Exceeding the device’s capacity could lead to its destruction, a fire, or an electrical accident.

• The device has not been designed to support safety disconnection.

Actuator-Specific Hazards:

• Use only mains power capable buttons and wires for connecting to button inputs.

• **Switch actuator:** Follow all technical specifications, especially the maximum permitted switching capacity of the relay and the type of consumer to be connected. All load specifications refer to resistive loads.

• **Blind actuator (HM-LC-BI1-FM):** This actuator is only suitable for 230V a.c. motors. Never connect three-phase a.c. motors or d.c. motors. If motors are connected in parallel, observe the motor manufacturer’s specifications. Use only blinds or shutters with a limit switch (mechanical or electronic). Check the limit switch for proper adjustment before starting the blind actuator.

Installation should only be performed by persons with the relevant electro-technical knowledge and experience. Incorrect installation can put your own life at risk and the lives of other users of the electrical system, and you risk serious damage to property. You may be personally liable in the event of injuries or damage to property. Contact an electrical installer.

The following specialist knowledge is particularly important during installation:

• The ‘5 safety rules’ to be used: Disconnect from mains; Safeguard from switching on again; Check that system is de-energized; Earth and short circuit; Cover or cordon off neighboring live parts.

• Selection of suitable tools, measuring equipment and, if necessary, personal safety equipment.

• Evaluation of measuring results.

• Selection of electrical installation material for safeguarding shut-off conditions.

• IP protection types.

• Installation of electrical installation material.

• Type of supply network (TN system, IT system, TT system) and the resulting connecting conditions (classical zero balancing, protective earthing, required additional measures etc.).

Installation may only take place in normal commercial switch boxes (device boxes) in accordance with DIN 49073-1. When installing many flush-mount actuators in adjacent or stacked installation boxes, the total switching current of 16 A is not to be exceeded.

The permitted wire cross-sections for the flush-mount actuators are as follows:

For HM-LC-Sw1-FM:

Connect the actuator to L (External conductor) and N (Neutral) for the power supply. The switched channels run to the consumer (e.g., light or motor). The button inputs (S1, S2) are for connecting mains power capable buttons. For teaching directly without a Homematic Centre, you must connect buttons, even if only temporarily.

Important: The control inputs are connected to mains power. Use only mains power capable buttons and wiring. Only connect buttons to the inputs, not switches, as this would cause faulty functionality (teach mode).

You can operate the HOMEMATIC HM-LC-SW2-FM actuator using the button connected directly to the device without any teaching required. This allows you to check for correct electrical installation. Existing buttons can be used as usual.

For operation, only a brief button press is used. A longer button press (holding for more than 4 seconds) will switch the actuator into teach mode.

Training requires that both devices to be connected are put into teach mode and the desired channel must be selected for training.

The flush-mount actuators do not have a special teach button. To enter teach mode:

1. Connect mains power capable buttons to the button inputs (S1, S2).

2. To teach a certain actuator channel, press and hold the respective channel button for about 4 seconds.

3. Teach mode is indicated by the device LED flashing continuously.

If no teaching occurs, teach mode is automatically ended after 20 seconds. If other devices are in teach mode during this time, they will be taught.

After teaching, simple operating functions are available using the taught control elements.

For the HOMEMATIC HM-LC-SW2-FM (Switching actuator), depending on the control elements that have been taught, the actuator can be controlled in either two-button ON/OFF mode or in toggle mode.

For the Blind actuator (HM-LC-BI1-FM), it can be controlled in two-button UP/DOWN mode or in toggle mode (UP/STOP/DOWN/STOP).

To reset the actuator to its factory status, follow these steps:

1. Switch the device to teach mode by holding the (first) channel button pressed for at least 4 seconds. The LED will begin to flash slowly.

2. While the device is in teach mode (LED flashing slowly), hold the (first) channel button pressed down again for at least 4 seconds.

3. The actuator reset is indicated by the device LED flashing quickly.

Different actuator states are indicated by the channel LED flashing. For the HOMEMATIC HM-LC-SW2-FM, only one LED exists for both channels, and the respective flash code appears as soon as a channel is in the corresponding status.

As soon as a relay of the device is tripped, the device LED is continuously illuminated.

After switching the operating voltage on (mains voltage returned), the actuator checks its respective components. If an error is detected during this test, it is indicated by a flashing LED. This is repeated continually, and the device does not start its respective functionality.

If the test runs without any errors, the actuator sends a radio telegram with its status information. The actuator waits a random delay time before sending so that all actuators are not sending at the same time when power returns (e.g., after a power outage). During this delay, the device LED flashes (like in teach mode). If the delay time is short, the flashing may not be noticeable.

This product is maintenance-free. Repairs are only to be done by trained professionals.

The HOMEMATIC HM-LC-SW2-FM and HM-LC-BI1-FM devices have an internal fuse. This fuse protects the device relay from greater current load. If the device becomes overloaded and the fuse is blown, it can be replaced by a technician.

Important:

• Disconnect the mains power before removing the device (switch the circuit breaker off)! Work on the 230V network is only permitted by qualified electricians.

• Replace fuses with the same type of fuses only (round delay fuse 5 A).
