• Ensure the operating voltage matches the local mains supply. The grounding of the product must be maintained. Use only the provided power cord.

• Protect the power cord from damage. Unplug during lightning storms or long periods of non-use.

• Fuses are to be replaced exclusively by qualified personnel with the proper type and rating.

• Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.

• Do not connect external speakers with an impedance lower than the rated impedance.

• Keep away from direct sunlight and do not install near heat sources.

• Do not block ventilation openings. Allow a cold device to warm up to ambient temperature before use to prevent damage from condensation.

• Do not place naked flame sources, such as candles, on the product.

• Use only with the cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table specified by the manufacturer.

• This appliance is not suitable for use by persons with limited physical, sensory, or mental ability, or children under 4 years of age.

• This product can deliver sound pressure levels over 90 dB, which may cause permanent hearing damage. Wear hearing protection if continuously exposed to high levels.

• The product is optimized for music and speech signals. Using it with sine wave or other measuring signals at a high level may lead to severe damage.

General Notes on Safety for Loudspeaker Systems:

• Mounting systems may only be used for those loudspeaker systems authorized by the manufacturer and with the specified mounting accessories.

• Installation must be performed by qualified personnel only, at pick-points with sufficient load-carrying capacity and in compliance with local building regulations.

• Fixed and portable installations must be secured by two independent safeties to prevent them from falling.

• Ensure speaker stands are set up stably and securely. Observe the maximum load-bearing capacity and ensure the speaker’s mass is centered and balanced. Take added measures to secure stands on unstable surfaces, at extended heights, in high wind, or where there is a risk of them being knocked over.

• Do not set up speaker stands in evacuation routes. Ensure corridors are wide enough and use proper barriers and markings.

• Wear proper personal protective equipment (helmet, gloves, safety shoes) and use suitable means of ascent (ladders, scaffolds) during installation.

• After installation, inspect the system to ensure it is properly secured. The operator must regularly inspect all system components and have any defects repaired immediately.

The HK AUDIO POLAR 12 MK2 system comes in two cartons and consists of:

• A subwoofer

• A columnar mid/high unit

• A spacer

The subwoofer box also contains a padded protective cover for the subwoofer and a mains cable. The box with the column components contains the mid/high unit and the spacer, packed in a transport bag.

The HK AUDIO POLAR 12 MK2 consists of three main components:

The Subwoofer: This active unit houses the woofer, system electronics, and power amplifiers. The top panel has a signal-carrying plug-in base for the column elements and a carrying handle. The control panel, display, and connectors are on the top, sloping toward the rear. The power switch and mains socket are on the rear panel.

The Column: This consists of a mid/high unit and a spacer. The spacer plugs into the subwoofer’s base, and the mid/high unit attaches to the spacer. This system provides a mechanical and electrical connection between the units, so no speaker cables are needed.

Follow these steps to set up the system:

1. Place the subwoofer on a level, stable surface.

2. Connect the spacer to the subwoofer by plugging it into the base on top.

3. Attach the mid/high unit to the top of the spacer using the same connector system.

4. Make sure the elements are firmly connected to each other.

5. Plug the power cord into the rear mains socket.

Note: Do not transport or move the HK AUDIO POLAR 12 MK2 when it is assembled, as this could cause damage.

Yes, you can set up the system without a spacer if you wish to place it on a high stage, table, or a similar elevated surface.

To run two HK AUDIO POLAR 12 MK2 systems in stereo, route the mixing console’s left channel to the system on the left and its right channel to the system on the right. Ensure the DSP settings for Mode, EQ, Delay, and so on are identical for both systems.

The HK AUDIO POLAR 12 MK2’s Delay function allows it to be used as a delay line. To do this, measure the distance in meters between the main speaker and the HK AUDIO POLAR 12 MK2 system. Enter that number into the “Delay” setting in the DSP menu. The system will automatically calculate the correct delay time and render the signal with the proper delay.

Rear Panel Controls:

• 1 Mains: IEC mains socket for the power supply. Use the supplied mains cable. Ensure the operating voltage matches the local mains supply.

• 2 Power: Mains switch to turn the power supply on and off.

Channel 1 and Channel 2 (Line/Mic):

• 3 Input: Balanced XLR/jack combo input socket for XLR or 6.35 mm jack plugs.

• 4 Line/Mic: Selector switch to adjust sensitivity. Set to “Line” for line-level devices (mixing console, keyboard) or “Mic” for a dynamic microphone.

• 5 Volume: Adjusts the signal level for the channel. Fully left is muted, fully right is maximum volume.

Channel 3 (Instrument):

• 6 Input: Unbalanced 1/4″ (6.35 mm) jack for high-impedance (Hi-Z) instruments like electric guitars or basses.

• 7 Volume: Adjusts the signal level for the channel.

Channel 4 (Aux + Bluetooth):

• 8 Input: Unbalanced input (2x RCA jack) for high-level audio sources like CD/MP3 players or DJ mixers.

• 9 Volume: Adjusts the signal level for both the Aux input and the Bluetooth input.

Master Section:

• 10 Sub: Rotary control to adjust the bass level of the system. At 0 dB, the volume ratio between the column and subwoofer is balanced.

• 11 Mix Out: Balanced XLR output that provides a summed signal (a mix of all input channels).

• 12 LCD Display: Shows input channel levels, Master volume, and DSP parameters.

• 13 Master (push to edit): Adjusts the system’s overall volume. Push to enter the DSP menu for editing parameters.

• 14 USB-C Port: For charging mobile devices. It does not play media and is not a service socket.

To dial in the proper signal levels and minimize noise, it is best to max out the channel levels first. Turn up the input channel’s volume until the Overload indicator lights up at the loudest signal peak, and then back it off just enough so the indicator no longer lights up. After setting the channel levels, turn the Master knob up only as far as you need it to go.

1. Press the Master knob once. The display will show “BT ON/OFF”.

2. Press the Master knob again to select the menu. Turn the Master knob to select “ON” and press the knob to start the Bluetooth setup.

3. The Bluetooth icon in the display will flash slowly for 120 seconds, indicating it is discoverable.

4. Go to the Bluetooth menu of your player (smartphone, tablet, etc.) and select “HK Audio POLAR 10/12 MK2” to pair the devices.

5. The Bluetooth icon will light up continuously on the display when the devices are properly paired.

The display indicates the Bluetooth status as follows:

• No Bluetooth icon: Bluetooth is off.

• Icon flashes slowly: You have 120 seconds to pair a device.

• Icon lights up continuously: Bluetooth is successfully connected.

• Icon flashes quickly: Bluetooth pairing failed or the connection has dropped out (e.g., the device is out of range).

To use TWS, you need two HK AUDIO POLAR 12 MK2 systems.

1. First, establish a normal Bluetooth connection to one HK AUDIO POLAR 12 MK2 system.

2. On that connected system, go to the “BT ON/OFF” option in the DSP menu, select “TWS”, and confirm by pressing the Master button. The Bluetooth icon and the word “TWS” will flash.

3. On the second HK AUDIO POLAR 12 MK2 system, go to the “BT ON/OFF” menu, select “TWS”, and confirm. The two devices will now connect.

4. The process can take approximately 15 seconds. A successful connection is indicated by “TWS” lighting up continuously on the displays of both devices. Ensure the channel inputs and Master levels are the same on both systems.

Audio streaming via Bluetooth is more susceptible to interference than a cable connection.

• If the Bluetooth icon flashes quickly, check if your Bluetooth device is within range, if Bluetooth is enabled on it, and if the HK AUDIO POLAR 12 MK2 is selected in the device list. If it does not appear in the list, try pairing again.

• The sound may drop out if the device moves out of range or behind walls that interfere with the signal. The connection should re-establish automatically if you bring the device back in range within 120 seconds.

• For interference-free playback, there should ideally be a direct line-of-sight between the HK AUDIO POLAR 12 MK2 and the Bluetooth device.

• Note that system sounds, notification sounds, and ring tones from the connected device may also be played. You may need to deactivate these functions on your device to avoid unwanted sounds.

Press the Master knob (push to edit) to access the DSP menu. Turn the Master knob to navigate the menu and press it to select an option or confirm an entry. The system will automatically exit the menu and return to the Master Volume window if no entry is made within eight seconds.

System EQ: The three-band EQ tunes the system’s overall sound.

• Hi EQ: Boosts or cuts high frequencies (+/-12 dB at 12 kHz).

• Mid EQ: Boosts or cuts midrange frequencies (+/-12 dB).

• Mid Freq: Sets the center frequency for the Mid EQ (70 Hz – 12 kHz).

• Low EQ: Boosts or cuts low frequencies (+/-12 dB at 70 Hz).

Mode: Three preprogrammed modes to suit the application.

• Music: For live applications and playing all kinds of music.

• Voice: Optimized for the human voice, for speaking engagements.

• DJ: Best choice for playing electronic music.

Delay: Sets the audio playback delay from 0 to 100 meters in 0.25-meter increments.

PH Power (phantom power): Activates phantom power on Channels 1 and 2 for condenser microphones.

The HK AUDIO POLAR 12 MK2 has five memory slots (U1 to U5) for storing your personal DSP settings, including mode, EQ, delay, and display settings.

• Load Preset: Select this option in the DSP menu. Turn the Master knob to choose a preset from U1 to U5 and press the knob to load it.

• Store Preset: Select this option to store the current DSP settings. Turn the Master knob to choose a memory slot (U1-U5) and press to confirm. A text editor will appear, allowing you to name the preset.

– Text Editor: Press the knob to select a character space, turn to select a letter/character, and press again to move to the next space. Press twice to exit the text box. You can then navigate to “Save”, “Clear”, or “Cancel”.

• Erase Preset: Select this option and choose a preset to delete. A confirmation prompt will appear. Selecting “Yes” irrevocably deletes the preset.

In the DSP menu, you can adjust the following display settings:

• LCD Dim: Set to “On” if you want the display to dim eight seconds after the last operation. Set to “Off” (default) for the display to remain constantly bright.

• Brightness: Adjusts the display’s brightness from 0 to 10 (default: 5).

• Contrast: Adjusts the display’s contrast from 0 to 10 (default: 5).

To restore the factory DSP settings:

1. Navigate to “Factory Reset” in the DSP menu.

2. Press the Master knob. A security prompt “Confirm Reset: Yes/No” will appear.

3. Turn the knob to select “Yes” and press the knob to confirm.

This action irrevocably resets all DSP functions to their factory defaults (“Music” mode activated), severs any Bluetooth connection, and erases all five user presets.

• POLAR MK2 Column Carry Bag: A practical bag to protect the mid/high unit and the spacer during transport. This is included with the product.

• POLAR MK2 Wheel Board: Helps you transport your HK AUDIO POLAR 12 MK2 system.

• SONAR 115 Sub D: An additional powered subwoofer to add more power on the dance floor.

You can extend your system using the SONAR 115 Sub D for more bass response.

Configuration with two SONAR 115 Sub Ds (Stereo):

1. Connect the Left output of your mixing console to the input of the first HK AUDIO POLAR 12 MK2 system.

2. Connect the Mix Out of that first HK AUDIO POLAR 12 MK2 to the input of the first SONAR 115 Sub D.

3. Connect the Right output of your mixing console to the input of the second HK AUDIO POLAR 12 MK2 system.

4. Connect the Mix Out of that second HK AUDIO POLAR 12 MK2 to the input of the second SONAR 115 Sub D.

Configuration with one SONAR 115 Sub D (Stereo):

1. Connect the Left output of your mixing console to the input of the first HK AUDIO POLAR 12 MK2 system.

2. Connect the Mix Out of the first HK AUDIO POLAR 12 MK2 to the Left input of the SONAR 115 Sub D.

3. Connect the Right output of your mixing console to the input of the second HK AUDIO POLAR 12 MK2 system.

4. Connect the Mix Out of the second HK AUDIO POLAR 12 MK2 to the Right input of the SONAR 115 Sub D.
