Many new and factory radios require a reset code when disconnected from battery power. This is an anti-theft feature. Before unplugging power, you must determine if your radio or source unit requires a reset code. Check the operation manual for your vehicle or contact the dealer.

1. **Disconnect negative battery terminal:** Disconnect the negative battery terminal and place it in a secure position so that it won’t accidentally contact the negative battery post.

2. **Run Cables:** Properly route the power, speaker, and RCA cables through the vehicle.

3. **Mount Amplifier:** Choose a mounting location that provides adequate air ventilation. Mount the amplifier to a secure surface. Do not mount the amplifier upside down.

The chassis ground connection is critical for the amplifier’s performance. Follow these steps:

1. Choose a location that is close to the amplifier.

2. Completely scrape away the paint to expose bare metal.

3. Use a nut and bolt if possible to secure the ground connection.

Negative Power Connection: Attach the chassis ground cable to the amplifier’s negative (GND) terminal. Ensure this connection is very tight.

Positive Power Connection: Attach the main power cable from the battery to the amplifier’s +12V terminal. This connection must be very tight.

Signal Input Connection: Connect the RCA cables from your source unit to the INPUT connectors on the amplifier. The OUTPUT connectors can be used to provide input for a second amplifier.

Connect the speaker cables to the speaker output connectors on the amplifier. Since the HIFONICS BRX3016.10 is a monoblock amplifier, follow one of these configurations:

Single Woofer: Connect the speaker’s positive (+) wire to one of the positive (+) terminals on the amplifier and the speaker’s negative (-) wire to one of the negative (-) terminals. The output terminals are internally connected.

Multiple Woofers: Wire your woofers in the desired series/parallel configuration to achieve a safe impedance load. Connect the final positive wire from your woofers to one of the positive (+) amplifier terminals and the final negative wire to one of the negative (-) amplifier terminals.

1. **Positive Battery Connection:** Connect the main power cable to the positive battery terminal. This power cable must be fused within 18 inches of the battery terminal.

2. **Re-connect Negative Battery Terminal:** Once all other connections are made, re-connect the negative battery terminal, making sure it is securely tightened.

After re-connecting the battery, be prepared to disarm your vehicle’s alarm and enter your radio or source unit code if required.

LPF (Low Pass Filter): The LPF control will limit the output above the selected frequency (adjustable from 35Hz to 250Hz). This is used to filter out higher frequencies and allow for a smooth transition to midrange speakers.

SUBSONIC: The Subsonic filter control will limit the output below the selected frequency (adjustable from 15Hz to 35Hz). This is used to protect subwoofers from damage caused by playing frequencies that are too low to be heard but can cause over-excursion.

The Bass EQ control increases the power output at 45Hz for more pronounced bass. Exercise caution when using this control. Increase the level in small amounts until distortion is noticed, then back it off a little to eliminate the distortion.

Yes, some models include a bass remote. Avoid adjusting the bass remote while operating the vehicle.

Setting the level is a critical step to properly match the amplifier to your source unit’s signal output. This is NOT a volume control. Follow these steps carefully:

1. If possible, with the source unit off, confirm that its primary volume control is turned all the way down (counter-clockwise).

2. Turn on the source unit (CD or MP3 player). Re-confirm the volume is turned down. Ensure the source unit’s controls for balance, fader, bass, and treble are all set to the center or “0” adjustment. Make sure the green LED on the end of the amplifier is lit.

3. Play a clean, high-quality musical selection that you are very familiar with. A CD is preferred over radio signals. Press play and begin to turn up the source unit’s volume.

4. Stop increasing the source unit volume when you reach about 3/4 (75%) of its maximum, or when you hear the speakers begin to slightly produce distortion.

5. Slowly increase the amplifier’s LEVEL control (clockwise) until you hear distortion. Then, turn the LEVEL control back down (counter-clockwise) just until the distortion is eliminated. Small adjustments may be needed to balance the levels if you have multiple amplifiers.
